Just thought your thread needed a bump, I love David Holmes.

Here's another one you might like. The whole mix is excellent but you should try jumping to the 46:00 mark for a taste and let it play out for a while. Have it loud. :colgate:

Honestly, I've no idea. Most of this is kinda before my time too. I was introduced to it by my brother and parents (yes, I know :O ) I think it's been shifted around different slots (12am, 1am, 2am) and now at 4am.

It can be hit and miss, I'm not a fan of a lot of the DJs that appear, but some of the older sets are as much of a classic as live concerts IMO. The Portishead (Andy Smith) mix in particular is considered by many to be one of the finest EMs' there's ever been, I have to agree with that :colgate: David Holmes is always a firm favourite. I hate to think how much time that guy has spent in second hand record shops.

I absolutely adore Gerald, saw him in Ibiza a few years ago and it was one of the best sets I had ever heard.

I'll contribute more to this thread later when I'm home from work, completely forgot it existed.

He's timeless.

Here's an odd one, less laid back than others I've shared. It's a 2 hour set of trance/techno by Tasha Killer Pussies that is best listened to as a night-out warm up. Brilliant mix. It's like I've done a line and played Wipeout 2097.

SONGS AND THAT:

Tasha Killer Pussies - Killa Wipers
The Chemical Brothers - Prescription Beats
De Control - Hall Of Mirrors
Mould - Mould 2
Vixen - Wasteland
Beast Tamer - Volume 1
Tasha Killer Pussies - Dark Angel
Thera - Menace
Cold Dust - Planet Forming Materials
Brainstorm - Fractal
Oliver Dodd - Pack Light
DOM - Vegetation
Racoon - Attention
Immersion - F*cking Green Eyes
Tasha Killer Pussies - Redemption
Tasha Killer Pussies - Hoover Baby
Secret Hero - Multiform
Sugarbabies - Magic In U
Transa - Perpetua
Rebel Yelle - Purple Heart
Tasha Killer Pussies - Babewash
Cronical Re-Form - 2nd Try Out
Cloud 9 - You Got Me Burnin'
Three 'N One - Down The Hole
Respect Feat. Hannah Jones - Young Hearts Run Free
Mark One - Hoovers & Spray Cans
M&M - Don't Stand In My Way
Mauve - Hmmm
Bass Selective - Blow Out Pt. II
Sulfurex - Point Break

As this has evolved in to a lovely topic about mixes, any objections to me altering the topic title to change it to a 'Quality Mixes' topic or something a long those lines?

I love a A Guy Called Gerald. He's from your neck of woods, Craig, right?

Feel like I should contribute.

Nice Acid House and Techno mix.

Also "Season's Change" mix by Poolside is lovely.

Yeah, Gerald's from Moss Side in Manchester, he actually formed 808 State with Martin Price who used to own Piccadilly Records (I think). Bit of homegrown talent. He lives in Berlin now, must be a hot bed for electronic musicians because I know a few that dwell over there.

Anyone into Boiler Room sets? I found the channel a bit back after being referred to this

. His mixing is terrible, and the crowd is limp even for Boiler Room standards. It surprised me to be honest because I believe he was a decent DJ before Radiohead.

Anyway, here's a good one, Luke Vibert. Acid?

I saw that Thom Yorke one. Wasn't too sure about it. I wouldn't be as good as you as spotting how good or crap one's mixing is but I wasn't feeling it in general and switched it off. Skimmed through it again and there's a few good tracks in it. Also plays To Cure A Weakling Child around 25mins.

I also watched that Luke Vibert BR a couple of times. I really like it. One may say it's quality. He plays here every now and then and had the pleasure of catching him once. I can't remember much of the gig unfortunately as I pretty wasted. I couldn't even tell you what kind of set he did but I remember vaguely it was more break beats than Acid. Love the way he drops LFO around 20mins in. Also notice the guy in the GTA tshirt at the front

Something that bugs me about those BR sets are the inevitable narcissists that try get in the frame. Except for that funny red polo-shirt guy at Surgeon :p

christ thom yorkes set just reminded me of this vid, sorry for the youko link but BR copyrighted the original and then ripped off the idea of a BR funniest moments thing not long after.

the worst part is when he starts that god awful headbanging

His song picks are decent, and I had high hopes from the opening track - it's infectious, dark and stutters along but ultimately runs out of steam. Some of the transitions are just straight up clumsy, with tempo changes and a couple of slip ups on EQ balancing. Best bits though? I can't decide if it's his apparent cluelessness at the gear in front of him at the beginning or him turning around to see a dead-on-their-feet crowd and turning back again to shake his head in disbelief.

Yeah his song choices and just him in general isn't really the best person to do a show on BR, I mean 95% of sets on BR you'll see more activity in a graveyard.

Probably one of my favourite sets, might not appeal to those over the pond but garage seems to have had somewhat of a resurgence in the UK and EZ has been killing it for years. Sometimes his mixes somewhat clash but he's constantly chopping the tunes one after another keeping the energy high as opposed to every other DJ out there happy to premix a 128bpm set and jump around like a duracell bunny for a few hours.

Another good one from the OG, admittedly his track choice in this is kinda iffy and some of it clashes but it's Giorgio Moroder he can do whatever the f*ck he wants. Dropping Chase and Call Me in the same set? f*cking boss.
