I mean, I just wanna know if it's worth spending 300+ euros to swing through NYC. Well, I did. Yes, there were other games I had my eyes on, God of War, Uncharted, The Last of Us etc., but Spider-Man is what really motivated me to get a PS4. If you've got the money, go for it - you can find most of the other big PS4 games dirt cheap - I instantly started off with a pretty decent collection entirely consisting of PS4 exclusives. Spoiler If you're really interested in playing this game, I don't know what you're waiting for - if you like video games, I don't see why you'd regret buying a PS4. Take a look at the other exclusives the PS4 has like Horizon, TLOU, Uncharted, God of War, also the ones coming out over the next 2 years or so like TLOU2, Days Gone, Ghosts of Tsushima. If more than one or two of those look like they'd be up your alley then go for it.

Most of them are considered excellent. Spiderman is a good start.

Zello
I would have loved to see Queens in the game but I guess it's hard to imagine spidey swinging through buildings there.
Jason
From what I heard they've muddled with upper Manhattan a lot to make the swinging work already, so imagine what they'd have to do with the other boroughs. Would have been cool to swing down the bridges though for sure.
LL Cool L
does any1 else spend like 15-20 mins just swinging around...? I love this game being a huge spiderman fan....whats your fave suit looks wise??? mine is the homemade suit from homecoming, I also really like the og/beat up og and cartoon og suit ...I wish there was a miles morales suit
Edward Nashton
Just beat the game and it was... Amazing? Spectacular? Ultimate??? - It was awesome, it definitely surpasses Spider-Man 2 by A LOT, anyone who says otherwise is wearing industrial grade rose tinted glasses or has a bad case sour grapes. This definitely stands with the Arkham games as one of the best super hero games out there. Period. And the Homecoming Stark suit iz da best. Jason
Yea the Homecoming suit looks REALLY good in the game, I wore it for most of the story. The cartoon suit is also really cool if a bit jarring in cutscenes lol.

Algonquin Assassin
^Those look amazing, but how do you capture the shots like that? I've tried snapping some shots, but not quite sure how you do it. Anyway I've been playing the game since Tuesday and it's one of the best open world games I've played in a loooooooooooonnnng time. Not only does Manhattan looks absolutely gorgeous as IMO NYC is one of the greatest cities in the world, but gameplay is superb. The thing I enjoy the most is that the collectables have some real value and aren't just thrown in for a way to kill time like so many other games. The backpacks are cool and I like that the items provide mini pieces of story for Peter/Spiderman. Erased
Edward Nashton
Does anyone else listen to "Hero" by Nickleback on an infinite loop when idly swinging around?... No one? To turn the UI off I think it's triangle if I remember right. Here's a good guide video on how to do it Algonquin Assassin

Furry_Monkey
The only negative I have about this game is that they made it too easy to get the platinum trophy. It took me a week, not playing every day, and while it's still an "ultra rare" trophy, it was at nearly 4% when I got it. That means that nearly 4% of the people that played this game have 100% completion, in a week. I get that they want to fill the player with a sense of achievement, and they don't want it to be too hard (aka frustrating as sh*t), but after just 1 week of playing I'm now left with nothing more than swinging around and stopping street crimes. I do love swinging around and stopping street crimes, so it's all good Edit: I just had a look and it's now at 4.3%. I've not seen a game completed so much since Watch Dogs 2. chronic lumbago
Meanwhile I just completed Act 1. That's what I get for playing Yakuza Kiwami 2, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Spiderman at once.. jesus, I just can't hold myself back. Better to buy games than drugs I guess. This is a Sony 1st party thing, God of War and Horizon are both similar, no trophies that are too hard to get, none tied to difficulty, nothing unmissable. Zoobz
Just finished this today. My first PS4 exclusive game, and what a treat. Fantastic game. I loved the Spiderman 2 movie game back in the day. This feels nostalgic to play this modern version. Great to have a photo mode too. I don't know how some people can do this. For whatever reason I decided to pick up Zelda: Breath Of The Wild again and got all sorts of f*cked up because I kept trying to dodge with the wrong damn button. With Yakuza being a brawler and Tomb Raider having a ton of jumping, swinging, and wall climbing, my brain would short circuit trying to play those three games at once. Typhus
The game is a weird one for me.Because I will admit up front that the graphics are some of the best on the PS4, the gameplay is hugely enjoyable, and the writing and character design and voice acting are all top notch. But the truth is that the world they created just feels bland. It doesn't feel lived in by all these colourful characters. The backpack items are a highlight to me, but ultimately show what we're missing when compared to more overt references to the comics. Take the graveyard for instance, surely they could have done more than have Uncle Ben's grave? There's a whole ton of characters who have died in Spider-Man's world that he could comment on. But they do the bare minimum. Or like how there's a huge gang war, the Sinister Six are forming, but we get no mention of say The Punisher? Or Daredevil? When I play the game I'm left wanting more, and not in a good way. It feels like they made an open world without the first idea of how to actually fill it up with cool secrets to discover or make it feel a little more connect to the Marvel world. What you see is what you get, and it's mostly repetitive side-missions or worthless collectibles. Frankly, if that was what they were going to do, it shouldn't have been an open world at all. Edward Nashton
@Typhus I don't understand your problem with the mentioning or lack mentioning of other Marvel characters, maybe you missed these moments somehow - There's a line that explains why the Avengers aren't in NYC, There's a REALLY deep cut reference to Wolverine at Fisk's museum, and ironically Daredevil/Matt Murdock is probably the most referenced Marvel character in the game to the point where there's speculation that there might be a Daredevil spin-off. And of course there are a ton of other references that I won't spoil - if you walk around on the streets you'll hear a lot of pedestrian chatter referencing other Marvel characters as well. I mean, unless you were expecting on-screen appearances, I don't see what the issue is. This is the first installment to this new franchise, so the focus should be on Spider-Man. As for the dead characters and no mention of the Punisher, This universe is it's own thing and is not strictly following the order in which things play out in the comics/movies/tv shows - Some villains arrived much earlier than others, and some haven't even turned into villains yet, some relationships never happened etc. So you might've be too hasty going into the graveyard and looking for characters that might not be dead yet or just don't exist in this universe. The lack of any mention of the Punisher (as far as I know) confused me at first, but once I realized that things aren't playing out in the traditional order of the Spider-Man mythos, and that the Punisher debuted as a Spider-Man villain, I figured Frank Castle might not be the Punisher yet and they're probably saving him for later. I couldn't disagree more with your comment about how this shouldn't have been open world, the one thing this game is universally praised for by both people who love it and hate it is the open world traversal, This game would be nothing if it weren't open world. The collectibles are the exact opposite of worthless, they serve as a type of currency for unlocking suits, mods, gadgets and upgrades. Worthless collectibles are the ones you collect for the sake of collecting. The repetitive side-activities are just a byproduct of where video game technology stands at this point, there is no algorithm yet that could generate a unique side activity in real time. And if every single side activity were uniquely hand crafted, eventually we'd finish them all and then there would truly be nothing to do in the city. Those are the limitations most open world games face, I don't see why that bothered you so much in this game. ___________________________ Edit: I didn't mean to bite your head off - but yeah, it kinda looks like you missed a lot of those nods to the rest of the Marvel world.
