Freeze Crash in Story Mode PC

Today I was playing the mission where Trevor helps Franklin and Lamar with the drug deal, then they have to get on the jet skis and escape the police. The game crashed when I took the Jet Ski on land to try and escape with Lamar. Just froze and I had to exit.

 

Rebooted, tried again and it crashed again at pretty much the same point, after I landed jet skis on beach. So, rebooted again and this time I decided to do another mission where Trevor goes to the shipyard and has to operate the crane. Again, it froze after about 15-20 minutes. So not specific to the Jet Ski mission, seems to be time based?

 

My system specs:

 

i7 6700

16 GB DDR4 Ram

256GB SSD and 2 TB 7200RPM HDD

GTX 1080

 

Froze for me on my 4K monitor, and on my Predator X34 which is 3440 x 1440 with G-Sync. For graphics settings most are high or very high, with some being normal as I was trying to get as close to 100 FPS as possible on the X34.

 

Love this game and hope I can find a fix! I had been playing it for a few weeks without issue until today, also playing Rise of TR, Crysis 3, Witcher 3 and Division at max or close to max settings without issue. I read the archives here and saw some issues with the game crashing in certain missions, but this doesn't seem to be mission dependent.
