Alone in session, all players 'left' issue...

Hi guys,

As the title says, I keep getting alone in session throughout the day.

I get that it might actually be me who left, just that I see others leaving me.

I probably keep getting kicked in alone session but I don't lose internet connection.

Other games I play, I don't have this problem. My internet is fast(32mb/s) and I never lose connection.

I just uninstalled the game so I will see if that fixes my issue. Sadly I didn't know that I had to download the game again, thought it would take me to reinstall option but nvm I can wait another 3-4 hours for download to finish.

Anyway, if any of you knows how to fix the issue of being alone in session while I'm downloading the game, I'd really appreciate.

All players leaving is pretty random. Sometimes I play for 5mins in freeroam and sometimes I play for 2 hours and it happens.

This is really unplayable especially when you do VIP work with your bodyguards etc etc.

Sometimes I do contact missions and everything is fine but when I get back to freeroam it shows that all players left and I'm again alone.

Is this a common issue or can I do something to fix it?

Thanks.

It's very common, and there's nothing that can be done about it on the player's end. It's some problem with Rockstar's servers that will (more than likely) never be fixed. Hope this helped.

A very common issue. It's called a session split.

Most likely everyone in the session had exactly the same thing happen to them - it will have told them all that "everyone left".

If your internet's good, and you have all the right settings, etc. for it, then there's probably not much you can do.

The connection you actually get to the game depends on how good everyone else's internet is too, unfortunately. When you have about 30 people in a session, the chances of them all having good internet are fairly low.

There's a couple of solutions on Google for this, if you can't be arsed to search for em' tell us what platform you're on. :)

There are things you can do to improve your own connection (someone on here showed me all about it quite recently).

You could try port forwarding - this here explains a little about that:

https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/200525767-GTA-Online-Connection-Troubleshooting

And here's a little more on it:

http://portforward.com/

Also, you can check your internet's upload/download speed here, as well as (probably most importantly) your ping:

http://www.speedtest.net/

(Here's one that should work on phones too):

http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest

But there's no guarantee that will fix this for good. Because GTA V has no dedicated servers for the gameplay, the connection you'll get to the game largely depends on how good everyone else's internet is too.

I haven't been playing that much since I changed my settings, but I know that before that it used to do it all the time for me.

After that, well I'll have to get back to you on that. I imagine it will still do it a fair bit, but maybe not quite as much.

Are you on console or PC? If so a trick I learned for my Xbox One when I'm having internet issues with GTA is to quit the game. Then at the home screen hold down both triggers and press "Y". If done correctly the screen will refresh along with the cache and after that I do not encounter network problems until I turn off my system and come back later.

Sorry if that does not apply to you but it should be helpful for others anyway -__-

3-5 times a day. Sometimes the whole lobby leaves, sometimes only a half the lobby. My internet is pretty good and stable, no problems. Even my provider confirmed this several times. Only in GTAO I have these issues. Potato servers.

If you're doing stuff with friends or enjoying (with, against, or both) the strangers in a lobby, then it sucks.

If you're doing CEO work, some VIP work, some freeroam events, or are still doing Crates/Special Crates on old-gen then it's a special bonus.

The bad news is that if you are in the middle of CEO work and it splits you from your associates, they can't be invited/rejoin as associates until the current CEO job is completed. After that, you can hire or be hired again.

Also on PC. For me wifi is always prone to that, while LAN is always reliable. Now I use it to my advantage to make CEO work playable.

Arrows to Athens

It's most likely the game's servers. Nothing new, and there's not much you can do about it, other than going on the Rockstar Support forums and asking for a solution to the problem, only to receive an automated, copy and paste response saying that it's on your end and you should try forwarding your ports, clearing your system cache, or re-installing the updates.

It's a blessing in disguise.

Since the new DLC was released, it really is! Last night, I had two full warehouses to offload and I deliberately kept session switching until I got myself in a public session all alone.

I have unofficially dubbed the Finance & Felony DLC as the 'Widespread Paranoia update' lol

I was gonna say, why does OP think this is a problem? :p

Really, whenever I see the whole lobby leave, I am relieved, knowing that for a little while, at least, I won't be troubled by griefers or jets or assholes. It's nice having the world to yourself.

I have a feeling other players might be somewhat responsible. Hear me out... I've been playing with some nice folks recently that often make empty lobbies when the lobby we're in gets full of jet griefers, many times the person creating a new empty lobby was also the first person in the lobby we're currently in. Once they do whatever they do to make an empty lobby, they leave then half a second later the whole lobby leaves sometimes.

So.... I think many lobbies started as lone "CEO lobbies" and once the creator of that lobby leaves the game has a hard time synching to another "host", so it just makes us all our own host.

That's my feeling from what I've experienced recently on PC. It used to happen to me maybe 2-3 a week, now it's more like 1-2 times every time I play. No big deal though, once you find a good session it can last all day.

If you want, add me and join me in about 3 hours just to test it (same name on SC). The lobby I'll be in generally has no connection issues (depending on your location). Runs at 60fps for me with barely any lag (unless of course you're a passenger in someone's vehicle travelling at high speeds).

I doubt the problem is on your end if you have no issues with other games, it is quite common in GTAO but less than what you described imo.

I can't offer an explanation or solution I'm afraid, but when it happens to me all I think these days is: Sell sell sell! :D

FAFF_empty1.jpg

I used to hate this happening but at least now there's a way to turn it to your advantage if you choose.

Funny how things change.

One thing, though: It used to be that if you got split, the lobby would stay "solo" for what seemed like hours.

When I got split today I had randoms joining within 10 minutes. Might make it more difficult than hoped for a warehouse sale.

the issue is the lack of servers. The only servers for this game are the cloud servers that everything saves to. All we play on is P2P (Peer to Peer) connections that has constantly failed on much smaller games than this one.

So no, it won't ever be fixed unless Rockstar smartens up and quits being cheap and gets dedicated servers...

matchmaking servers too but yea, hopefully dedicated ones are available in the next game, i'm not optimistic though considering R* would have no control of the in-game currency / shark cards if they had no control over dedicated servers, unless they owned and paid for them... Which I'm not optimistic about either.

Really sucks that they're putting so much effort into the product then going half-assed on the service.

Happens to me frequently, I thought it was an ineffective deodorant at first then realised it was R* who stank.

This is exactly my experience. I'd be in Public (1) for the rest of the night, unless I screwed up, or timed out, or fell asleep during the cloud simulations.

But yesterday, I ended up in Public (1) and I thought, "Great, I'm gonna do that VIP thing where you just have to hide for 5 minutes. Easy money," I thought. But noooooo. In about 2 minutes, some asshole joined and immediately started heading for me. I killed him once, but he got me with 15 seconds left. Grrrrr!

F*ck it. Glad to see that Rockstar's joining and matchmaking are improving.

NOT.

Might just be bad luck.

I had my own lobby today from 1-6 pm EST. Left on my own after filling and selling two warehouses solo.
