Ive had 4 "calls" total and im just over 100 collection runs. Sold 1 full large and a half full medium and currently sitting on two larges at about 80%. First call ever was normal. Ring ring special item. Next two just kind of showed up when I went to buy, no warning from my assistant, and the fourth while farming VIP missions in an invite only lobby with a friend. My 3rd also magically blew up the second I left my office after purchasing it. Two of mine were the pocket watch.

With these, has anyone managed to hold more than 1 at the same time? I got a call and collected the film reel and was going to hold onto it to see if I could fill a small warehouse with special items and make a fortune.

 

I've had no calls since so was wondering if you can only hold one of these at a time.

That's the same question I came to ask. I'm wondering if you save up and get 3-4 special items, maybe they'll go up to $150k+ each, instead of 125-135k, but could they be stolen?

Received 4 calls all in all. I get to my PC and nothing but the usual crap to collect. No special items and no high rates...

 

I got a call in an invite only lobby too - like wtf, how am I supposed to access my PC in an invite only?

I think you can. Like I said I've had 4 calls. Sold my first one instantly, stashed the second. That one is still in the small warehouse I keep specifically for special items. I've had 2 calls for them since, one bugged out and instafailed and the other was while in an invite lobby so I couldn't even try. No guarantee but it seems like it should be possible.

I'm up to 4 special items in the same warehouse; no missed calls or collections, no sale yet, and no duplicates. The frequency of my getting "the call" seems to be going down...

There could be a specific trigger. I received my first call for an ornamental egg after my 47th crate pickup, but lagged out on my way back to the warehouse. When I joined a new session, my assistant called back with another offer, but the item had changed to the golden minigun.

 

I received my 2nd offer after my 69th pickup for the diamond, and stored it with the minigun in a small warehouse. The combined value of the items is $272,000 which is more than if I sold them individually ($250k if sold individually -- $115k for the minigun and $135k for the diamond).

 

There was another offer which I received while in Blaine County, but it disappeared by the time I made it back to HQ. I recommend using the $5,000 heli ride whenever you receive a call so you can be teleported to the office.

 

I do most of my pickups and deliveries in free aim lobbies. Crate size, inventory, and lobby size doesn't matter imo. I picked up one special item in an empty free aim lobby with over 90% inventory, and another in a busy lobby and less than 10% inventory right after I had sold a full large warehouse. The only time I do less than 3 crate pickups is to top off a warehouse.

My warehouse containing special items began to get buggy. After 3 failed attempts to enter my warehouse (with new inventory or not) and multiple application restarts, I decided to sell my collection. At the time, I had 4 special items and my assistant's calls had all but stopped. I'm wondering if Rockstar never intended for these to be stockpiled, but rather sold immediately. I've still not heard anyone claiming to possess multiples of a special item.

It's possible that the added value came from the bonus received for making a stock sale with rival organizations in your lobby, rather than from possessing multiple special items.

 

It's also possible that the NPC buyer might influence the price, as recently I've been offered 135k and 145k for the Large Diamond, with the only change being when I checked to price.
