Primer31
I've been noticing some of the flight characteristics of helicopters are for lack of a better word unrealistic. I know it's just a game. But you can clearly see that they are trying to simulate actual in flight characteristics. In my experience, they have missed the mark on some of the helicopters. The buzzard in particular is to me a pain to fly. The annihilator is much more stable. My experience comes from extensive experience in real helicopters. (It's how i get to and from work) and I fly several rc helicopter variants. My main issue is with the tail control. When turning, the helicopter reaction seems off. I play on 360 and xbox one. My experience is the same on both consoles. That helicopter in particular should have a higher rotor speed than some of the other types of helicopters. So, why is the reaction to input so far off. Am i the only one who has experienced this?
ngazi
Well I don't know anything about flying helicopters but the way I see it, helicopter controls are a carbon copy of on foot controls. You can just fly, aim, everything with just the left stick and triggers and never think about what your rotors or the air are doing. Using the rudders is hit and miss because most of the rudder movement is automated by the game. You can't fly backwards or sideways without the helicopter turning around by itself, but then again you can do any random inputs you want and once you let go the helicopter will hover just fine. Primer31
In flight controls could and in my opion should be different. They could simply copy most well known collective pitch helicopter controls and the result would be a more stable and controllable fight. The only problem would be with camera control. I find no need to control camera angles beyond where i'm looking. If there is something behind me, i'm going to turn my whole helicopter. If it's important enough for me to see it, i want to be able to take action against whatever it is. My main issue is what the helicopters in game do when you try to turn the heli's using only tail rotor control. Mainly the buzzard. It's a pain to fly when compared to some of the other heli's. When you do a tail rotor turn, the heli acts weird. Like it throws it off balance. I haven't experienced that in real helicopters or model helicopters. In one of the missions, you have to steal an annihilator. Flying the annihilator, I can simply turn and follow the jet that is sent to take me down. When trying to do the same thing in the buzzard, I have to fight the helicopter the whole time. When you try to do a tail rotor turn in the buzzard it knocks the helicopter sideways. I just don't understand why a helicopter that in reality should have a higher rotor speed would act the way it does. A higher rotor speed normally means a more precise/ more stable flight.
