Anyway to get into the back seat of a vehicle (as a passenger)

I've been wondering if there's any method of getting into a vehicle as a passenger and not default to the front passenger seat? For example if my friend is in the pilot seat of a Dodo is there any way I can choose to hang off the side with a combat MG rather than get into the cockpit? Or with the Rumpo Custom - is there any method to default into the back seat where you can use better weaponry?

If you gold down Y or Triangle you go into the back seats.
