Why did Rockstar make it so others could destroy the crates?

Well based on the reaction shown here it was to help stupid people self identify to those around them at minimum controllable losses.

R* cant stop someone from being a sneaky d!ckface, but they can make sure everyone else in the session knows who the window lickers are.

It is for reasons like this I dont play on a populated server unless my crew has the numbers to kick. Then its a simple 2 strike rule (unless its egregious).

You folks dont realize the power you could have over your experience. Tolerating behavior like this is what perpetuates it.

I'm loving this 'Good Will To All Women' vibe that the CEO stuff has brought to freemode. I think it's lovely that so many people are coming together to call-out other players on their nasty behaviour when they destroy the crates the CEO has spent ages collecting. Bravo, Bravo.

It's gonna be funny as hell if R* starts giving a percentage cut for destroying a final load. I'm pretty sure a few opinions will change overnight  10% for destroying a $2.2M load; I'm getting my Hydra.

I would feel bad for destroying crates but the amount of times I'm doing my own thing and then getting KICKED I now make it my mission to destroy crates if I've got nothing else to do.

f*ck them people. I've not done anything to them and they kick me so yeah I'll destroy the crate for free even I don't need money, they do.

What's the benefit to destroying shipments/crates?

It seems like the only benefit to stopping a sale is to be a dick.

You understand it perfectly. If people are happy to blow up your T20 at a cost of $27k to themselves, why would a bonus of $2k strike you as a disincentive? I think the question is: "Why did R* think this would make for good gameplay?" It would've been far better had the goal been to steal another CEO's crates. Destroying sh*t is just too easy.

Players kicking you out of the session is Rockstar's fault because of the paranoia of jets.

Case 1 : The ceo attacked my frogger, I am happy to destroy his crates with or without pay.

Case 2 : The ceo hired two of his friend as his associate which were at war with me and my friend. He should collect his crates alone.

I only destroyed one once, that was to only see how much it was worth, ended in disappointment and I felt bad for what I did. There were times others tried to destroy my cargo but luckily I was already near the warehouse off the radar.

What's the benefit to destroying shipments/crates?

It seems like the only benefit to stopping a sale is to be a dick.

You have answered your own question /THREAD

So using a fighter jet armed with explosive cannon and missiles to blow up a slow and essentially defenceless boat/truck/plane while its occupant is fending off hordes of aimbot NPCs is a challenge?

Yep. That's how he "steps up his game". Fighter jet vs. tugboat, homing launcher vs. Titan, or Proximity mined warehouse door vs. RV. You need to be on a really high skill level to accomplish those kinds of kills.

I would recommend not risking anything for sale missions. I personally wait until I have a ton of backup or am alone in a server. Alot of them have you flying all over the map in a titan dropping crates at medium/low altitude. Even level headed jet players find that hard to resist.

Personally after having spent the last 2 days with the warehouse grinding and selling I've decided to leave people alone. I had no idea how much work I was undoing by attacking them. Feel kinda bad now. Not to mention, you get diddly dick for doing it. I might hang my pilot helmet up for a while and enjoy a more passive approach to this game.

When even the Top Gun, CoD, and professional troll players begin to admit this, you KNOW this game mode has some serious problems.

Attacking crates may be frowned upon for obvious reasons, but it's still just the game being played exactly as R* intended it to be.

I would be very surprised if R*'s playtesting of this stuff was anything even remotely similar to a public session. More likely it was comparable to a friends or crew session since it's likely all playtesters are friendly IRL.

If their intent was the reality we see, then this is just a huge troll and attempt to drain the bank accounts of suckers.

it works just like in real life. Don't like it? get better.

Because in real life every time you tried to smuggle 18K worth of stolen smokes you would have to contend with 20+ psychopaths who immediately know your location, carry around two metric tons worth of guns, explosives, and ammunition, and body armor, and have access to unlimited military hardware. To add to the reality level, if you kill them they come back to life in 4 seconds and continue to lob explosives at you.

Going by the realism angle, 3 or 4 CEOs voting to kick you out of their session should be considered comparable to the mob families ordering a hit on you (from which you cannot come back to life in 4 seconds). That's the true reality of trying to F*** with people who are attempting to deal in organized crime. If you cost a real criminal organization money you will wind up swimming with the fishes or with your throat cut.

Time to get good at playing with others, I guess? I haven't been booted from a session yet, and if it happens it won't hurt my feelings. I really don't want to hang around where I'm not welcome anyway and I can't fathom why others would.

I bet when your dad comes home drunk and throws you a beating you go kick the dog too, right? Absolutely pathetic.

" It would've been far better had the goal been to steal another CEO's crates. Destroying sh*t is just too easy.

While this would still not prevent trolling by those who just wanted to ruin other people's fun, it would make more sense.

The largest downside to that would be people quickly coming to the conclusion that if they have to fight off AI plus every other PC in the session for the cargo anyway, why even bother paying 18K for it when they can just steal it for free from someone else.

A far better method would be for competing organizations to have to pay 50% of the value of a shipment to be "tipped off" as to where the deal is going down and who will be involved. For example, as soon as a CEO pays to start a delivery, Lester or some other rat texts/calls every other organization in the session saying "Hey, word on the street is that there's a crew trying to move/pick up a package. For a percentage of the value I'll tip you off and tell you where you can try your luck at taking it for yourself". Then and only then would you see the red box icons on the map and have a chance at disrupting it. You would also risk something up front and be able to genuinely profit if you succeed.

I destroyed 1 crate, he was in one of the new cars at the time as well, so I got 2k for the crate and had to pay near on 20k for wrecking his car, lesson learnt.

I just leave people alone now, even if they drive past me, no point wrecking a crate for that price and it's just a dick move to be honest.

If it's a full lobby and I see a single CEO trying to collect 3 on his own, I have messaged them saying I will look after these 2 crates while they deliver the other.

As OP says, the only possible reason that Rockstar mentions the game mechanic of destroying other players' deliveries, is to be a dick. Rockstar wants this.

If it weren't already completely obvious, it is now. Rockstar intentionally has put maximum imbalance in GTA0 to create the maximum amount of rage, and the make the griefers and assholes happy. Rockstar hates the fanbase and takes every opportunity to troll the players and create frustration rather than fun.

We should be asking ourselves, why does Rockstar hate us so much? We've given them $3.5B f*cking dollars.

What's the benefit to destroying shipments/crates?

I destroyed a player's tug boat while he was doing a large $250,000 warehouse sale (which he got very angry about.. booo hoo), but it only gave me $2000. So why the hell did Rockstar even bother letting players intercept these transactions? It seems like the only benefit to stopping a sale is to be a dick. I only attacked thinking I would get 50% of the haul, but instead, got about as much as I would have gotten just robbing a liquor store.

For the lols. Can't put a price on the lols.

I do admit, it would had been 100x better if we could steal the crates and turn them in for a profit, would had made sh*t more intense and more sweaty controllers and mouses.

Wish it could be stolen.

This would be waaaaay too logical.

Rockstar spent months, maybe years, perfecting this game mode, designing it perfectly. I'm sure they know what they are doing. That's been demonstrated over and over again.

Definitely to be a dick. I just destroyed one warehouse sale because a guy couldn't shut up in his mic, made him lose 700k I guess, it was really funny.

all you guys want is easy money, no challenges at all. It's freemode baby, not a f*cking playground, if someone wants to destroy your crate then what's the problem? Just step up your game

^This

So incredibly f*cking not this.

Why do I need to step up my game? I'm a lousy player and I like it that way. I've got just enough skill to kick most AI ass and to ride on somebody else's coattails while they win sh*t I'm passively involved in. I don't need to be challenged after a long day of fixing other people's sh*t at work and I just want to mindlessly enjoy my new car in a one person race. I'm fully aware of this and so I hide in invite only sessions, sometimes with a few buddies who share my opinions on how to play. Opinions, you might notice, I am not ordering anyone to follow. If anyone wants to go around and be a dick it's their good goddamn given right as it is my right to not get involved in it, preferably far away from any people at all. There's a reason my windowblinds haven't been open for two years.

Why do I need to start training and practising and stepping up my game because it's, up until now, always been possible to play my game my way in my session.

Even if I get one of the precious few people I'm willing to hang with online at the same time as myself, a protection detail of one is getting underpaid for what they have to put up with and not gonna be able to do much anyway.

The obvious answer is, ofcourse, to allow this crate nonsense in private sessions.

Now i know why R* frown upon personal car theft.

Vagisil douches that get easily butt hurt are not welcome in this game. I hope my fellow anarchists make your GTAO life a misery.

Hahahaha.. hahahaha.. haha!! You're playing GTA Online, "gangsta" ;)

This is not a hardcore PvP game, and you running around sniping unsuspecting people and bombing them with your pussy jet does not make you a badass, hardcore m*therf*cker :D

You and your fellow "anarchists" are too afraid to play a real PvP game with people who actually are looking for that kind of challenge.. Going around in GTA and feeling badass with your marksman rifle and your jet just shows what a coward you are.

Either way your being a lazy dick, he spent time and money getting that and you tried to steal his sh*t without doing any of the work. This is good on R*s part lazy people should not be rewarded.

Lol you guys are pathetic.

It says in the game "Destroy the crate" It's not about being a dick, it's abotu playing the game. Rockstar clearly intended other players to intercept these shipments. And since you obviously can't deliver the crates yourself, you can only destroy them. So don't call me the dick, i'm just playing the objective as Rockstar intended.

The real question here is what's the point? Why did rockstar make it so other players can destroy these?

karma gets us all in the end.

in a game with freedom of choice you WILL reap what you sow.

also the toolbags who enjoy f*ckin up the crates will move back to whatever sh*t twitch shooter game they came from in a week.

this too shall pass.

Well.. consider it karma paying back. I was just in a lobby right before this getting spawn killed on the beach 30+ times. Couldn't leave the session, couldn't go passive, couldn't do anything. Was doing a "headhunter" alone and the entire session decided to head me off at the pier and stop me. There were at least 6 of them, all on the pier shooting down from miles away. It was great teamwork on their part and they did a hell of a good job. But it was f*cking annoying at the same time. At least let me leave the area.. I couldn't even open my pause menu or abandon the job.

So i joined another session.. and there it was.. a big tugboat headed out to sea. Figured I'd get a big reward for stopping a shipment, but instead it only gave me a measly $2000 and made a little girl cry.

Rockstar should either give people a massive reward for destroying these, or make them invincible to other players. And to assume people are just gonna be "Cool" and not attack these is idiotic. The game says specifically "Destroy the Crates!" on the bottom of your screen. What the f*ck do you think a majority of people are going to do?

And btw, if you're gonna bitch and moan and cry that you failed at delivering a shipment, here's an idea.. don't waste your time in freemode trying to earn money. You should only do this CEO stuff with a team of skilled players who are covering you. This dumbass was sailing out to see all alone with no defense at all. He deserves to have his ship sunk. You want lots of money fast? Do heists. End of discussion.

To be a dick. You are a dick. Boo hoo now, boo hoo.

Why did you even think you would get 50% of a haul that you destroyed? I would understand if you hijacked the ride and delivered it to the sale point, but you f*cking destroyed the goods.

Obviously I expected something more substantial. Why would logic play into this? It's GTAOnline.. there is no f*cking logic. People are flying military jets around the city...

If the game is going to give you a high value target like that, it should reward you with something substantial for being the one to stop it.

Destroyjng the crates is just for fun it's not about the money it's about disrupting someone else making money

Plus you get ammo

Both of you are the reasons why most of us INTENTIONALLY lag out sessions to do this solo. Go f*ck yourselves. Is there a way to lag out... it Happens to me the odd time, as soon as it does its haul ass to the warehouse to sell the goods.

Invite only/single sessions don't let you work....just fyi

I was in a session with just one other player and we called a truce...got loads of work done....we'd pass each other the odd time and just beep. It was well chilled lol

Well this session was supposedly "Chill" but i had just joined so I had no idea. I just saw a tugboat and took it out and he got mad saying "This was a chill server!"

Here's the problem with that logic... players can join whenever at any time, so you are NEVER safe even if you make a truce with as many players as possible. You need to be absolutely prepared when you do a sale. You need jet support and helicopters and blocker cars. We do that whenever we make a sale and take out at least 4 players nearby just to ensure they don't try anything. We have a 95% success rate and have made quite a bit of money.

If you want to sell your crates, you sure as sh*t better be defending yourself, because players will jump at the chance to screw you over.

"95%" my arse. You haven't done more than one or two of these if you think that a team of 4 can pull some of them off consistently in a hostile session.

There's no point to it. At all. Other than to be a complete and utter gaping cockhole.

A level 454 Hydra fag the other day shot down one of my Cuban shipments and I wound up losing half my crates.

I don't really find a point of rage messaging people because I know people are just assholes to be assholes in this game, but he wound up messaging me asking how much I lost.

I said half of my crates, and he replied, not too bad. Okay, f*ck you. Then I asked him how much money he got and he was too stupid to understand the question and thought I was asking how much money he had overall and at that point I just left the session after killing each other a few times.

Then I find out that you only make $2,000 and realized these people are even more soulless than I thought.

For now, as long is this is forced public, remember you do have merryweather on speed dial. If someone is harassing you call mercs on them, you know, like a real mob boss would do. Call Lester and toss up a 9k bounty to bring in backup from players, Hell, call Lamar and get a mugger to rip the jackass out of their car, steal 10k, then drive off in their car [that bug still happens and it's freakin hilarious to see their reactions]. I saved a shipment from an aggro tool by sending Merryweather after them. Took forever for the mercs to kill them which only made it funnier because they soaked up the stickies, rammed them off the road/into alleys and just generally trolled.

*edit*

-New CEO feature should be 25-100k bounties or 10k bounties that last for a certain period of time, i.e. 10k every time you kill this guy for the next 5 minutes sort of thing. We are multimillionaire criminal CEO's, we should be able to act like it. Get paid to grief the griefer into a rage quit.
