when i started playing V few weeks ago, i thought well, there is no niko but graphics are descent, i'm gonna mod it and i'm gonna have fun. and the more i play the more the mayonnaise doesn't seem to work.. i mean there is nothing to do. why R* keeps bombing us with that criminal s***. why they totally occult simple life activities, that have been asked by many players for ages now. like eating in restaurants, dancing, sitting. when will R* hear that some people enjoy doing nothing in GTA. i've been playing GTAO few times, and even if i understand they are a commercial company, that needs to make money, personnally i find the online very redundant. you shoot like a crazy then you drive at 200km/h because you scared a troll is nearby, then you shoot like a crazy, then you drive at 200.. Is it just me or V doesn't have that spark of life IV had

Totallycasual

I guess it depends on the amount of content i got for the money they charged, if it was as small as the things you mentioned plus online stuff moved over to single player then i wouldn't be keen on paying much, maybe $10.

If i actually got new story mode missions/progression for M, T and F or even a new city i'd be willing to pay full price.

No, because all these activities should be in storymode in the first place. Further, the reason why GTA V is not the same as GTA IV, is because GTA V is designed mainly for onlinegameplay.

yep, that's how i interpreted all the negative votes. yesterday, i played IV and i didn't get bored, not even during 1s. when i play V after 1 hour i have an emptyness feeling. i think i'll continue modding LC into a Vice city like i've been doing for years, even adding some custom made maps. and when tools will allow map export, i will probably create a huge off road map in V, which will be the prolongation of my IV map

Yeah, IV felt what I could call, more "lively" perhaps, which is ironic because the actual map of GTA V does have a lot of sh*t going on in it, but IV felt more "fluid" I guess? Can't say, maybe it's the tall, huddled structure and the happenings in it that bring it out.

And the deletion of a lot of side stuff was truly disappointing like you mentioned, there was nothing more enjoyable than going to Burger Shot to regen' your health and hear the cashier yell "Burger Shot, muf*cka'".

V is almost entirely a mule for Online. If R* was even interested in the slightest about Single Player anymore in this game they would have mentioned something, an official cancellation at least, of the SP-DLC and/or applied the changes in Online to it. Granted, Online takes place a few months before the SP timeline but yachts can come and go as they please, and vehicles aren't a concern. They brought over the weapons, didn't they.

A part of me wants to believe they just cut out stuff in the end or during planning because the game was primarily launched on last gen before the shift happened and they didn't have space for all the stuff like extra interiors and what not. And that they would've liked bringing in the stuff back for CG/PC but it was too much work.

Here's hoping with GTA neXt both sides get what they fully deserve.

in V there are more events, but much less things for you to do. i don't know what R* is cooking for us right now, but there's something i'm sure about it's that putting aside the modding community would be a major error

Why would it be a major error?

The modding community is the minority. Losing it would not be a big deal for Rockstar. GTA is not like, for example ARMA, both a game and a platform. The majority of people play online and buy shark cards and do not care at all about game politics. This forum represent a minimal and more or less irrelevant fraction of all GTA players.

Rockstar have stated earlier that they are not going to release any DLC in the size of TboGT or TLaD. If they ever release anything for singleplayer, which I stongly doubt, it ain't going to be much. For me I don't care anymore. My dreams of a proper singleplayer in GTA V is gone since two years ago. My world is the world of modding right now, and in that world there is constant updates to singleplayer despite Rockstars attempts to deliberately try to prevent material from online to move into single player (such as a simple revolver) and it says quite a lot.

you could be right. but for me hearing that modders are a minority is like an heresy. mods made GTA. i purchased GTA because it's only game you can drive a 50s caddy. without the modding side GTA would be "just another game" to me. you say forums are minority, i'm not sure you're right on that one. right now they are 1440 connected which is extremelly high for forum. as i said R* is commercial society so they go where most money can be grabbed. and with the consoles now into the dance, it's obvious that it's online that will generate more money (sadly?)

there is this comparison video between gtaV and gtaIV, its not a rant video but it shows all the different pedestrian's and cop's reactions.
all the details that where not implemented in gtaV cause of the memory power they needed for gtaV's features. after the video i totally understood the difference between those games and where each pro's and con's are.

Even though i grew up with offline games in an offline world, i like playing in an online world. a consistent online world is the key feature for me. so this new gta:o is what keeps me playing. i don't use mods because i don't like setting it all up only to lose it with the next update. always hated that in every game when i use add ons or whatever.

all in all, i do see the improvements and understand the way its taking. all the gamechangers like flip over cars and steering the car mid-air are going in the direction of fun over frustration. i never like a rolled over car in gtaIV and it never gave me any motivation of driving carefully, it was just annoying. so i know for myself that rockstar, (whatever the f*ck they are doing) will always deliver a game that is fun to play with that unreached quality (and bugs).

when u don't enjoy it then you have a problem with change. its a totally human thing, no worries, i have it. i hate changes to my favourite things but i learn to embrace them.... try it.

in games like GTA there aren't 250 000 updates you have 2 or 3 at the very beginning and that's all. then you can mod it to death. there are really cool mods around, most of all, mods give a game an endless lifetime. if you know a bit of scripting or a bit of 3D max you can turn a GTAIV into a V or maybe i should have said a V into IV ^^. i love online games too, you have that "human touch" that gives that impredictable aspect to a game. but in GTAV you do always the same, and as i said, you can have great fun with mature gamers, as you can come across kids which only fun will be to smash you with a tank, whatever you said you don't want to get shot at. 2 days ago i played IV in solo, i stop at the nuts vendor, i ate a donut and i had lot of fun. and i think that simple thing makes the difference between IV.and V. in V unless driving there's nothing to do. there could have been hundreds of things that would have drastically improved V, and that would have taken less than one day for the devs to implement. like sitting, fire camps, adopting a cat, inflatable matress, sunbathing..

I find it ironic that GTAIV had less overall activities and mechanics at play, but the few activities it did have were more enjoyable than 90% of things in GTAV. I got a similar feeling when playing GTA-SA vs GTAIV, I sorely missed the character development, the recreational activities and the persistent gang-wars. Of course SA was very unrefined when it came to physics and gunplay, which was a massive trade-off for me.

I really miss playing Pool in GTAIV, it's one mini-game that Rockstar nailed and was really fun, not just as a mini-game, but it also enhanced role playing due to NPC interaction. I find all the mini-games in GTAV not even worth playing due to lack of polish. Golf for instance would have been great if they actually put effort into creating realistic physics, but it's just too rough to enjoy. I do miss eating in restaurants and hotdog stands, it made you feel like you were in a living breathing city and that your character had human needs, again reinforcing your role play experience.

The world of GTAV lacks character, the NPC's aren't as charming or diverse in their actions. The idle banter and dialogues of peds seemed generic and uninspired. They don't even try to Jack you which was a great feature in past GTA games. Ultimately GTAV feels very robotic and artificial to me. It lacks the charm of what GTA life was all about and the crazed mentalities of people who lived there. Sure there are some throwback events in GTAV that give you a taste of the other games, but there is no real emphasis on it and not enough effort into making it feel genuine or relateable.

In GTAV I very easily find myself standing still like a stunned mullet, reflecting on things I miss about the older games. GTAV is big and beautiful, but sometimes it feels like a husk of a true GTA city.

Actually, story mode has more living world. Because GTA Online is cut version of story mod. Yes, we don't have all cars or houses from online mod but there aren't animals, some visual effects or more-different npc's and cars on streets.

GTA Online is giving me only online fun. But when I want to chill, walk, drive car, prefering story mod.

i always felt fully satisfied with IV. since i started tweaking the timecyc (weather) to get what i wanted (tropical thing), i always had the feeling IV was the game any GTA lover needed, IV for me was all a gamer could expect for. with few maps, few scripting, for the 1st time i had the feeling i had a game that i could play endlessly. my only small issue right now, it's that because of it's engine being stuck on 3 gig memory if you want a good traffic you may experience few bugs using traffic scripts. if only IV could use more memory like a 64 bits game does ................ coeur_zpsiaatwoae.png

You just reflected what many of us here have been writing since the release of GTA V in 2013. It appears that what you describe is a universal phenomenon shared by many players.
