Specific people, eh? I feel like The Cougar, my GTA:O character, has a strange smell.



She looks like she smells like cheap cigarettes, mayonnaise past the "Best Before" date, perfume that you'd buy from the 80's in a Sears catalogue and leaving chicken in your car and leaving it parked in the sun for the whole day.

I honestly don't want smell technology to be real. Like Japan is coming up with these...*ahem* very Adult simulators with "attached guns", if you know what I mean, and while that's somewhat disturbing I can get on board with that. Technology is amazing at replicating reality but I do NOT want to smell other players. Walk outside in Los Santos? Sure. Take a quick whiff and...oh, is that gas? Cars all around, of course! I'll probably get light-headed from smelling gas all the time, though. The wind has this scent to it...the trees! Smells fresh! Then, in a matter of seconds, a brightly-colored Kuruma veers around the corner, skids to a stop, windows roll down and a wave of smells assault me. A body that hasn't been clean in 3 years and rolls around everywhere so definitely got some flies around him, let alone the moss that grows on his skin. Hasn't taken a single sh*t in 3 years so he's got a full adult diaper that's dripping everywhere and I'm not talking about the urine. Doesn't eat anything except candy so he's got breathe as bad as a dead fish. He wouldn't even need to shoot a gun at me, only exhale in my general direction and I'd probably faint in-game and in real-life.

I think I'll auction it on ebay, there's probably a niche mens market for that kind of thing.

If you really want that ice cream let me inform you first that it will be served by The Cougar...and she won't be using her hands to scoop it up, if you know what I mean.

 

Definitely a weird thread but in no way an insult. It's refreshing to see threads with thought, with creativity in them. Something so simple as SMELLING can totally make our minds reel, thinking of the nicest smelling places in LS as well as the nastiest and that's what the GTA:O section, at its core, should be; making us think about GTA:O. Seriously, you're doing amazing work by being weird. Please keep doing such threads. I enjoy them immensely, despite the little attention it seems to be getting as of now (there should be WAY more replies about smell!).

Well, my F620 would definitely smell nice. It probably still has a hint of that "Dollars and scents never smelled so good" smell acquired after being driven for years through The Exchange.

Another great thread FW3. Imagination is one of things you need to continue playing a sandbox game for years on end.

 

I imagine the smell in Sandy Shores to resemble a desert-like smell. Dry, dusty, fine hints of eucalyptus through the wind as it passes through the trees.

I like spawning in my muscle car garage in East Los Santos by the Unit 2 garage, I'd imagine myself smelling like motor oil from assuming my character likes tuning his own cars and burnt gunpowder from the guns he fire.

 

Otherwise on the other end of the spectrum, I like spawning by my yacht, smelling like I just showered and styled my hair with a nice Old Spice-y smell and wearing Vice City-themed clothing with the scent exotic expensive Italian perfumes following me, all that is missing is owning a Testarossa on my yacht to display and sipping gin to enjoy admiring its beauty, all with classic rock and power pop playing on the radio.

Think about it...

It's tough, because I've lived in both a major city where the combination of smells – garlicky restaurants, smoking manhole covers, truck farts, and sewer drains – remains etched in my memory forever, yet I've also lived on a lake where the peak of summer brings the most opulent smells of rotting fish, smoking red necks, boat farts, and curdled sea week, again, stuck in my mind forever.

 

If I had to pick one, it would have to be Downtown Los Santos, just because there's so much to do there. I think I'd lose my mind in Sandy Shores, and the smell would only be half of it!

I would say downtown LS would smell worse than the heart of sandy shores.

 

My only reasoning behind it that the smell in LS would linger more, due to less windflow into the area.

 

The sea breeze over the mountains into Sandy Shores would at least give you some relief to the stench.
