From what I've seen, there is no gentlemen's code...

There's only a "I'm going to f*ck you over because I'm a piece of sh*t code".

Joined a lobby with 3 buds and we loaded up into an organization. There was only another crew of 3. Within 2 minutes of starting our crew, we all get a "if you don't mess with us, we won't mess with you" text. Had some randoms join in and group up but it looked like they saw our 2 crews already being civil and I guess didn't wanna rock the boat.

Only one person joined that started trouble. Came at me and one associate like a bat outta hell. We took him out because we didn't wanna take a chance. He kept charging at us, but after 3 kills he THEN messages us saying he's not a threat. Then he went back to minding his own business. Not sure if he was testing us or just didn't think about warning us first, most people lately at the very least give their horn a couple taps like a friendly wave and you know they'll be cool.

There's still some chaos, but it's kept way more in check now.

Sessions now involve players being part of an organization and there seems to be a gentleman's agreement to not mess and destroy each others' crates.

I've still yet to see this happening

I can vouch for this. It's happened twice this afternoon to me in different sessions - quiet ones, but still. Actually kinda refreshing to hear from other players (and not have it being purile trash-talk)...

FAFF_message.jpg

I replied that I have no beef with any CEOs, and that we're cool.

There's still tension as you only have the other player's word, but in a way that kinda works too - you're relatively safe because you know they just want to get ahead just like you, but always watching over your shoulder just in case. No doubt they're thinking the same! This is how running in Crews should have been in my opinion.

It's strange but I'm actually quite enjoying it - it changes the multiplayer experience :)

I think rockstar can learn from the New Need For Speed game. Have friendly or competitive lobbies. Then everyone is happy.

Obey Manufacturing, along with its members, prefer not to engage in activities that would otherwise ruin the public image of Obey, its subsidiaries as well as its parent group.

The only exception of course is the CEO's excessive dislike for Benefactor, but that does not reflect the opinion of Obey Manufacturing as a whole.

On a serious note it's quite rare that people interrupt or disrupt CEO stuff. Sure, there's shootouts but it's more of the usual rather than business-related shootouts.

funny you should mention this. the game now kind of reminds me of vice city stories empire building system. the icon for the office headquarters even resemble the property icons from vice city stories and just like vice city stories there were mission were you had to seize cargo vans and bring them to store houses. I love this new update. its the best yet imo.

We had a lobby, four and four, two groups.

Group A, us, was going well.

Group B, decided to roll on us as we were entering our office in a Armed Insurgent. They didn't shoot first, but one of us from group A did.

We spent roughly two hours fighting these guys.

Went into game chat and came to a mutual agreement that we were in the wrong, and became friends. Weird how things work.

lol, old habbits and paranoia die hard. Edited by huckmonkey

What a time what a time to be alive.

GTAO is now very peaceful.

How long it will last I don't know.

Seems like I'm not the only one getting messages of truce before a shot is even fired.

Weird.

For me, it's like getting a brand new GTA game, just in the same city.

That is until rogue toolbags have to interfere with your gameplay, then it's back to the same ol' same ol' PvP crap.

I have a different take on the update. I game with others that are mostly all high-level and have plenty of money, so now everyone is a CEO. No one wants to be an associate, so rather than a group of friends doing missions, heists, or just miscellaneous stuff together a crew lobby, it's now mostly everyone doing their own thing in some random free-roam lobby. You may end up together occasionally, but you're still doing your own thing, you have to be ready to leave at a moments notice if the lobby fills with a bunch of idiots.

Yeah the gentleman code actually seems to be a thing.

If you play in a small lobby with only other solo CEO's no one will bother you, everyone just wants to do their thing and collect crates.

It's great.

I've experienced this.

But, a random always shows up eventually and grabs a Hydra. Every. f****ng. time. Ruins it all!

Gentlemen code!? I have not experienced that! All i have is people laying proximity mines outside of the warehouses and offices! What lovely "gentlemen" they are.

Yeah same I switched between 100s of lobbies over 6 hours and never saw anyone not try to blow up my stuff so I went back to soloing it today in my own server no one can enter. have to sell way more often that way but 5 million so far in a few hours selling at 200-300k/. Seriously though I feel like people are attacking me more often. I go into the building to get a mission come out and my car blows up. People have been spawning titans on me while driving a truck of stuff back to the warehouse. The worse was the yacht spawning on 780k tugboat delivery and then the guy griefed me with a minigun until i left. I feels more chaotic than ever.

From what I've seen, there is no gentlemen's code...

There's only a "I'm going to f*ck you over because I'm a piece of sh*t code".

yeah same

Sounds like my kind of lobby

And gentlemen's code? Lol if this is how some lobbies are now, GTA has taken a turn for the worse. I'm still slaying and warring with people in freemode and if they happen to have a coloured name, so be it. I don't really care if they're trying to do stupid CEO missions, nor do I need the measly pay out of disrupting the missions but R* put a target on your backs and it's hard to resist if you're in the area. Not been kicked from any lobbies because if I join one that has less than 15 people, I usually go to find another one immediately. Funny how people complained about R* servers and being in small lobbies/by yourself and now everyone wants it exactly like that

we are probably going through the honeymoon period of the update, once people get tired/bored of the thing it would be back to the endless freeroam battles.

on the meantime, lets enjoy the gaming utopia.

sometimes it feels like im playing another game, i mean the other day i was flying in my buzzard with a crate, this guy flying in a buzzard locks on to me, so im waiting for the impact, the lock sound stops, next thing you know i receive a message from the guy saying "sorry for the lock, just flying by"

i was really surprised by that, 3 days ago that same guy would have blown me up and the text message would have been something like "take that bitch" or something like that.

after almost 3 years of endless battles is hard to trust a random, but for the moment seem like this update have changed the way people play in freeroam... and to be honest, like it!

This is the way it should've, and could've, been from the start.

It's not that there isn't a place for PvP freeroam all out bullsh*t battling... but if that's all there ever is, well then, it's simply not fun.

This actually sucked me back into Gta. Now there's something to actually do in public lobbies and not have to worry about semi sniper scrubs. And driving passed randoms not having to worry about getting sticky bombs is a weird yet great feeling.

Keep in mind I play around midnight until like 2-3am in lobbies that never exceed 8 players. Everyone's doing their own thing and everyone's in an organization.

Just finished a 4 hour session of playing and very quiet again.

The tactic being used now, since most sessions are CEOs, is to VOTE TO KICK rogue players. It's almost like a brotherhood and since there are very few violence and killings so when somebody kills somebody, the lobby takes notice and they usually vote to kick.

Majority will get a guy kicked.

It's a game changer.

It would be hilarious if GTA Online turned all friendly because you know the intention of this update was to encourage utter chaos.

Going on another week of gameplay and looks like it is still peaceful. With an occasional pack lobby with violence, you can still find a majority of the lobby being very peaceful.

This is totally a different game.

It promotes teamwork and socializing. It is boring to play by yourself now because no randoms would engage in a gunfight so the best thing to do is join others and it forces you to interact with other players.

Great update.

Recently I've found a group of friends and about 10 of us get into a lobby and somehow the "drive shiny super cars and meet up in between cargo hauls" vibe spreads to most other randoms. It's really cool, we'll hop in and out of each other's groups and you'll see multiple members of different groups tagging along on tug boat rides. If someone ever does try to stir things up it's funny to watch all the different color dots approach them like a beehive :)

Does it seem like we are playing a different game? It doesn't feel like I am playing GTAO anymore. With this new update I find myself in the office a lot and running around fetching things.

I took an hour break and resumed to the usual deathmatches and killing spree and it felt right again.

Sessions now involve players being part of an organization and there seems to be a gentleman's agreement to not mess and destroy each others' crates. I have driven by players and they have driven by me with cargo and nobody has tried to destroy them. The CEO work is another story since people are still coming after people.

This update made the game less violent since its counterproductive to destroy an organization's cargo and the time is better spent fetching cargo than destroying.

Does anyone feel like this has suddenly became a different game?

This game needs more features that breed cooperation in free-mode. And this update was a beautiful start.

as if some psychologist where told to analyze free roam and make it less chaotic. they probably found out that the random gamer needs a lead, there has to be a task at all time or everybody just goes nuts.

the wars are more civilized, it seems that each little fight has a topic and a clear ending. a little like bounties. and of course alot of fights that never start! peaceful it is. people pass by and dont shot. its nice.

CEO's have something to lose, something to take care of, they think twice about there use of weapons. its lovely.

i noticed how everybody is trying not to cross their paths. they take extra turns to not run into the CEO with the crate.
