Every type of buying run

Recommended Posts

I'm very impressed with how many different ways there are to buy stuff and how many different ways it goes right or wrong, so I'm compiling a list of what I've done so far.

Buying runs

Seperate crates

These are the runs that have you collect crates separately depending on how many you bought (one held per player at a time)

(Can be done solo by going back and forth from warehouse to crates)

1. Going out to a (lovely looking) marquis and having to blow it up to salvage separate crates.

2. Finding a crashed plane with the cops checking it out to salvage items from.

3. Going to a drop zone and signalling the seller that you're ready with droppable flares.

4. Investigating some attacked vehicles and having to follow a blood trail to find the packages.

5. Having to search location for crates (No blood trails)

6. Having to shoot down three Froggers and collecting the crates that drop from them. (crates drop immediately)

7. Having to shoot down one Valkyrie and kill the people that parachute from them (crates drop from each person parachuting)

Vehicle crates

These runs have all cargo (no matter how many bought) all in one vehicle. (Usually trucks, rvs, or vans)

1. Being blackmailed by your seller and having to assassinate some people before they give you the location to the vehicle. The amount of crates effects the amount of targets.

Some targets:

  • Nurses
  • Body Builders
  • Actors (Monkeys, Zombies, Astronauts)
  • Epsilon people
  • Hobos

2. The cargo being stolen meaning you have to use trackify to identify which vehicle has the cargo. (amount of possible vehicles determined by how many crates bought)

3. Similar to 2 however the vehicles show on the map rather than trackify

4. Simply picking up a vehicle and taking it to the warehouse (little or no resistance)

5. The seller gets spooked and you have to change course to pick up the vehicle at another location. (little or no resistance)

6. The cops find your cargo and take it back to a police station (similar to ambush but much less resistance on site)

7. Having some gang members hijack the delivery truck holding the items (And transferring to a police van if it's the LSPD) you're buying so that you have to get it off of them.

Confirmed possible gangs:

  • The Lost MC
  • Vagos
  • LSPD
  • Triads

8. Grabbing a vehicle and being ambushed by cops or gang members that may try to block you in.

Confirmed possible gangs:

  • The Lost MC
  • Vagos
  • LSPD
  • Triads

9. Interrupting a buy between two gangs that turn on each other, killing remaining gang members and taking vehicle

This should be all of them.

What have you guys done that I might have forgotten or not done yet?

Selling runs

1. Flying about 1-2 planes (Titan or Cuban 800) around the map to drop crates from, whilst your team protects you from enemy aircraft and other players, also the planes have an upgrade that you're passenger can use to avoid homing missiles.

2. Flying 1-3 planes (Titan or Cuban 800) No opposition, no staying under altitude.

3. Flying about 1-3 planes (Titan or Cuban 800) to a specific location with ambush at location,

4. Flying about 1-3 planes (Titan or Cuban 800) and making air drops whilst staying under certain altitude.

5. Driving about 1-3 brickades to a destination. (Possible ambush at location)

6. Driving about 1-3 brickades to a destination only visible on trackify.

7. Driving 1-3 brickade to multiple destinations to drop off crates.

8. Driving 1-3 brickades with no resistance (I think) $9000 delivery bonus that goes down with any damage to the trucks.

9. Driving a tug to the ocean to make the sale, but being ambushed at the docks whilst picking up the tug.

10. Driving a tug out to the ocean to make the sale, with enemy sea-sharks attacking.

11. Flying a Titan over drop zones, last one does not appear, at final drop, a call from assistant to say the last drop over a restricted area. (Humane Labs, Merryweather docks, and places that often get you stars in SP) Heavy resistance and Law enforcement (a three star wanted level after making the drop)

Note: Completing a selling run that you started in a lobby with 25 players or above can net you a bonus that often makes up for the amount you spend buying crates. (Around 500k for large warehouses, 200k for medium)

Anything you've done I missed?

Testing for correlation in companies buying stock and the method of sale

So far there seems to be no correlation, so I'm pretty sure it's random.

Running some research here to see if the companies buying your stuff affect the method of sale:

Two special crates warehouse selling to Old Media Enterprises - 1 Brickade trackify

Full Medium warehouse selling to Ameropean Partners - 3 Brickades

Full Small Warehouse to Chiliad International - 1 Tug

Full small warehouse to FoxHen Enterprises Ltd - 2 brickades them kill 18 enemies

Special crate (Large Diamond) to Amir Group Investments - 1 brickade kill 4 enemies

Special crate (Large Diamond to Amir Group Investments - 1 brickade trackify

Full small warehouse to Grandgor Communications - 2 Cuban 800s, 4 normal drop offs and 1 restricted area drop off per plane.

Full medium warehouse to Grandgor Communications - 3 Brickades 15 drop off locations.

Full small warehouse to Che Dan Group Limited - 2 Brickades, find delivery location with Trackify.

Full large warehouse to Depredationist Equities - 1 tug with enemies on seasharks

Full medium warehouse to Depredationist Equities - 3 Brickades kill 18 enemies

full small warehouse to Conch Communications - 2 Brickades, deliver to different drop off points

Feel free to contribute.

I'm pretty impressed with the range of pick up and delivery missions too - even playing in an 'empty' public lobby is still fun because of the variation (they're all still fetch quests, but a mix of land, sea and air really helps). Even had a few collections go smoothly without incident, which is nice to have once in a while!

I've gone through the list and I've played all of those scenarios you listed, Zombly - can't think of any others I have come across yet. Will report back if I do though :)

Once the Lost had seized the truck and were holding out in the chapter in LS.

Quite fun, and it's a chance to drive the elusive Lost Slamvan. But you can't store it, so bummer on that.

Yeah my friend was going nuts about it spawning fr, He wasn't happy that you couldn't store it.

Found another delivery scenario for you:

5. Driving a tug out to the ocean to make the sale, with an NPC ambush at the docks when picking up the tug.

Multiple dropoffs brickades too, instead of 1 per drop off point. Mine was 5 with one brickade I believe.

Was it multiple brickades or just one?

I had a buying mission where I arrived at the location and there were a few crashed/attacked(?) Gang Burritos and I had to follow a blood trail to find the package (map only showed a circle where to search). Not sure how to describe it better.

Also had a buying mission where a helicopter took off with the package and I had to shoot it down.

Although I have not come across the same type of buying mission twice, I did however have to go to the same location 3 out of 8 times I bought something so far.

Might be worth noting that I so far only did single package buying runs.

Oh yeah I forgot about the chopper one. That blood trail sounds interesting, I love things like that, where you take a break from shooting and driving and have to investigate or do some different kind of activity.

I think my favorite one is the buying run where you have to pick up the packages at the plane crash site.

Ive had both those, both mine were 2 packages, I assume they can be for 3 too then.

Yeah I had one where the plane was crashed in water and I think one at the beach, I should have taken some photos on the beach one for a lost kinda of feel lol.

I hope they add more variations in the future. I said this on another thread but it would be great if Rockstar stuck with this CEO stuff instead of abandoning it after this update. There are a lot improvements that need to be made.

Yeah, there's still some things that need to be refined. Example the VIP work Haulage, the trailer can't be blown up but the truck pulling it can so if some random blows up the truck it gets really hard to move it away to connect another truck to the trailer and by the time you've found another the truck half the session is there...

The Triads are another gang that hijack your shipment. A few others I've found:

Interrupt a buy - sometimes the gangs turn on each other allowing you to finish off the ones that survived

Delivery vehicle guarded by a gang - usually in an alley/parking lot

For number 1, there are also Gang ambushes. They barricade the alley and attack after you get into the delivery vehicle.

For number 7, the police can also take the cargo and transport it in a police van that you have to hijack back

Yeah, there's so much variety that you only start to pick up on the patterns being the same if you do hours and hours of grinding, which I have. It's tedious, but not in an annoying way like heists.

Pick up a van in Chumash, instant 3-star wanted level from 'a police ambush'.

Phone Lester, drive home.

My sell mission for a full medium warehouse was to fly 3 cubans from lsia to an area a little south of Zancudo but north of the hills. There were dirt roads and a little bit of open space to land on. When I got in the yellow circle area to land in, NPC Vagos ambushed me. I quickly took off and landed outside the area to fend off a dozen of them. Thankfully they didn't attack the plane and it still counted as landed in the area even though I moved it. The other two plane trips didn't cause any npc spawns.

I'm enjoying the variety of collection activities, I like how you never know what you will get. Ok they aren't infinite and they will repeat but that's fine.

Same with the sales. I've only done 3 of my own and helped a friend with a few more but they are good too. So far I've had a couple of Brickade ones some of them just a straight run to a destination others like the plane ones where you get multiple drop offs. Then the plane ones (not done the Titan one though). And my favourite one is the tug.

Again it is the not knowing what you get till you start the sale that I like. Although I do wonder if you can tell by who is buying as to what it will be or if it is random.

interesting thought, I never took the names of buyers into account, I have medium warehouse ready to sell once my mates are on, I'll remember the name and see if anyone selling to the same name get the same way of selling in terms of vehicle.

it was surprising about buying part - shooting down the helicopter . i've got to shoot a valkyrie with my buzzard but gunners attack first ( seemly having longer range than common buzzards )

^ The thieves in that Valkyrie headshotted me with both miniguns simultaneously, in a flat-out Hydra from a range far greater than lock-on missiles. They are badass.

4. Driving 1 (Unconfirmed if there is one with multiple) brickade to multiple destinations to drop off crates.

I had to drive 2 Brickades (5 crates per Brickade, despite selling an entire small warehouse) last night.

Yep they've put a huge amount of time into this update, perhaps more than heists. Damm shame it doesn't work with assistants due to them getting nothing. I can do 700k solo in two hours now though, but boring.

^ Yeah there's a bunch of voiceover work, which is a bit of a giveaway this had budget and time.

Took my hydra out too during a sale..

Just the hundreds of locations and variation would have taken ages.

How do you get a mission that involves the sea? I haven't gotten a single one so far. is it because my warehouse is too far away from the sea?

Are you doing 3-crate buys? If so it's just luck of the draw. Not sure if there are any 1 or 2 crate missions at sea.
