Load times could be improved for sure. It feels like they've gone backward in that department, the only times I've played in the last couple weeks it took several minutes to get in. Fallout 4 (the other main game I'm playing right now) loads much, much faster despite also being an open world game with a big map. Online shouldn't be significantly more taxing - you're loading the exact same map as single player, with some additional shared information from other players in session.

I don't know enough about the inner workings to comment in more depth, but something about this system is not optimally designed, without a doubt. The load times and frequency of lagging out are both unacceptable compared to most other major multiplayer titles.

Rockstars business model is not to sell you a quality product but as much useless junk as they possibly can. I wish gamers would wake up and stop supporting game companies like this because they will eventually destroy gaming by release half assed garbage.

Frequency of lagging out is down to them using a peer to peer design. Connection issues between individual participants or a participant and all others are more difficult to handle in a consensus-based design than the authoritative server-client model, which was designed to resolve all the weaknesses and crap inherent in consensus-based designs. That won't stop, as I don't think they will ever host dedicated servers for any version of GTA, especially if the console community represents the bulk of sales.

It's just another example of how gaming companies are getting away with taking us backward and undoing progress that has been made in multiplayer stability and game design by appealing to consoles (where dedicated servers are infeasible and peer to peer MP is widely tolerated) and casuals (who don't understand the problem or aren't actually good enough to care whether their shots are being dropped or that they're being disconnected every so often).

The problem is this: while GTA Online has a lot of issues (seemingly more with every passing month, sadly), it's still at its heart a fun and diverse game that lets me do almost anything that pops into my head and enjoy the pure, unspooling insanity with a huge number of my friends. This isn't like some pay-to-win game on your cell phone that only feeds a click-on-stuff addiction and offers no actual good times. GTA is actually fun. So a lot of people put up with its problems to enjoy the good parts.

But I have to admit: personally, I am ever more disillusioned with the cynicism behind some of their decisions, and the lack of fixes for some of the most glaring problems (especially balance issues, but also things like load times and session crashing). It's pushing me away from the game despite having an ungodly number of hours logged up til now. I kind of hope it pushes others away too because Rockstar needs to start taking a hard look in the mirror.

I've been playing freemode CEO on/off the last three days and am absolutely LOVING it.

The launch of VIP work last year was a game changer, and FF has enhance that no end. Well done Rockstar. No need to leave freemode, and no more cool downs.

My only reservation - making money in freemode has become more competitive due to the amount of players, but that makes it more challenging.

Honestly im bored with the update already. The warehouse missions are all the same. No diversity at all.

1. Rockstar could have done something to stop us by now (even if its making everyone fail if someone leaves during or after the cut scene). Obviously R* does not care about the finale glitch as much as people lead on.

1 1/2. the entry for heist, a high end apartment (cheapest is a little over $200k), rank 12, and $100,000 for the setups. Much cheaper and much more profit. If rockstar really cared they would have at least made warehouses a semi even way to make money. Not just a rip off and a scam like what they gave us.

2. People have already found a way to maintain keeping solo in public lobbies. There will always be a way now so they may as well make it in solo/invite/crew sessions now.

3. This feels like a rushed and incomplete update. They could have added more and tougher npcs or anything and make it solo sessions as well. Its not our fault they keep hydras and homing launchers so broken and do not give us enough explosive protection. If they wanted to make it a public lobby only, then we should have had more things like the insurgent or be able to use our own insurgents to transport warehouse stock.

4. They over hyped the dlc and the reaper in general. So since they didnt even make the car competitive with the T20 it felt yet again like a rushed and incomplete dlc.

The fmj and the bestra as well. Just feels like they wanted to take about 8 mill from us for just pure hype alone.

5. Price. Im rich as hell. Bought everything and the dlc still feels like a let down. No extra garage space. Sh1tty pegasus vehicles. Public sessions only. Sh1tty associate pays. Slow super cars. No explosive protection. No new weapons. And a new way to make money when i can make more doing contact missions for tom cruises sake. The most expensive dlc ever and all we get is some slow and useless toys. The only thing im even happy about is the free snacks and being able to spawn pegasus vehicles on top of your hq.

The warehouse missions are mostly the same yes, but when the alternative is doing the same heist mission over and over, i would much rather do the warehouse missions.

Like someone else pointed out in another thread. If you're going to spend 8 hours grinding Pacific Standard for several millions, why not get a part time job, earn $100 dollars and buy $8 million GTA dollars in shark cards. Why bother grinding that boring heist over and over again for virtual money that you can get more easily in the real world?

I love how this update split this forum even more than before XD

I know. It would be so much easier if we all agreed that this update was poo and nothing more that a blatant cash grab by Rockstar. Once we all do that, we can all move on.

Please tell me where I can easily get $100 for 8hrs work everyday, and I'll do it right away.

Just because we aren't being charged a price to download the update does not mean we can't come up with criticism about it, or expect that a company like Rockstar should be held to a standard for games like this.

It's not that simple. The pricing of everything (both buy-in prices and payouts) make it cash grabby as hell, and the risk of having to do it in public lobbies is even worse. But the actual content is fun and more thought-out than I expected. There seems to be a lot of scenario diversity in the pickups and sales, and if the balancing in free roam was better it would actually be enjoyable running the gauntlet of avoiding other players while doing deliveries. It's as close as they've come to free roam-based, partially-PvP missions and heists.

I just don't know what to make of Rockstar sometimes. It's like they're so close to realizing a dream of what GTA could be that I've had ever since I played GTA 3 - but at the same time they have so many problems they refuse to fix, and are so focused on selling cash cards. Argh.

It follows Rockstars usual pattern - great ideas but terrible execution of those ideas. This update had huge potential to be the update that most of us have been waiting.

I've been abusing the hell out of Rockstar's sh*t peer-to-peer system by manually desyncing to invite my friends to a pub that I'm hosting. Nobody ever matchmakes in, maybe due to how I've done it or something, and we may as well be playing in a crew lobby.

This update is great.

This new update is just going to turn into a modder infected fiasco...

Try doing Pacific Standard only using bikes, Armoured Vehicles are BANNED in my Heists.

I have near $90 Million saved up at the moment, just from doing heists, so much fun doing them without Kurumas. (I can get to the dinghy most times with 100% cash, using a bike).

We need more Co-Op content and less PvP crap.

See what happens in the coming months, GTA V's latest updates are starting to become, well... 'dull'.

MORE HEISTS PLEASE ROCKSTAR!

LESS BRAINLESS PVP ****.

She is going to/probably has receive/d some serious flak for this, but I think she's kind of right.

Complaining versus not complaining seems to be an age old war on here, and it seems like it's difficult to not just get lumped in as a "whiner" or "fanboy".

I have complained a hell of a lot over time, but I try to be balanced.

For about 6 months I b*tched and b*tched and b*tched about the adversary modes and Benny's cars, and I still stand by that b*tching. But now we finally have an update of substance.

Some of the things people are complaining about just seem too small. That they didn't nerf jets, etc. I mean sure, they probably should have, but that doesn't mean the update itself is sh*t.

Think about how I feel with the homing launcher. Every single update, I long for that thing to be nerfed, or for helicopters to be buffed somehow. I've been waiting since December 2014, with feelings of vengeance and spite about the thing lol.

But I can still acknowledge the good parts of an update, despite it not bringing the changes I was after.

Feel free to criticize the bad parts of the game (and believe me, I do), but if you ignore the good parts of the game, then people will label you as a whiner. You have to keep your hopes up; be balanced and fair - then people will take your criticisms very seriously, as you don't seem to be the type that just hates everything.

10/10 thread mate. Agree with every point made.

This update was by far the best thing R* has done since the launch of this game but at the end of the day, you can't please everybody and there will always be whiny little brats.

All I know is that after an extended dry period with GTAO, I'm now having buckets of fun again.

I've had enough of people complaining about this update:

- You are not supposed to be able to grind Pac Standard Finale so stop saying it is more profitable, you can grind it all you want but know that that is a glitch and you're not supposed to be doing it.

-There's no denying that playing heists (w/o any glitching) is more profitable but you need a group of 3 other competent players and if you don't like grinding it can get boring quickly, Rockstar never claimed this was the most profitable way of making money but it does make a lot of money.

- Ofc the delivery of cargo worth $2.2 million is going to be hard, if you don't hire associates then just stay selling smaller $200,000 batches like I'm doing or sell them in solo public sessions without getting the rival player bonus. Don't bite more than you can chew.

- Difficulty - do you seriously expect Rockstar to have this new dlc be a walk in the park. You are running a freaking smuggling company ofc you are going to get sabotaged, attacked, etc you can easily stay away from being a CEO if you like being spoon-fed.

- Cars - just because you don't like a car doesn't mean it's "ruined" or Rockstar did a terrible job. If you go to their respective appreciation threads you'll see that there are people that like each one and if you don't like one just don't buy it lmao, it's that simple. I don't like the Bestia's back-end so I didn't buy it but there are others that love it.

- Expensive - You are not meant to buy the most expensive office or warehouse. I literally bought the cheapest office with the least amount of customisation and a small warehouse and I've almost made back what I spent. You could have easily stayed away from wasting millions if you wanted to.

best post of the week IMO

I haven't done the CEO stuff yet, so I can't have a valid opinion on it at this time, but I appreciate what you are saying about the difficulty and the cars.

Well said OP, I think a lot of people are missing the entire point of this update. It brings a welcome change to the game and diversity to do something different. It is very refreshing and fun to play. It's not necessary a money maker, but I don't think it was intended to be one, but it could be if managed correctly.

To me this sort of makes heists and generally money making boring and redundant, enjoy the update, it is very welcome from the boring adversary modes that no one plays except a few, at least a lot of people are now playing these which is great.

Also warehouses double up as places to hide from cops giving you a lot of escape options which is cool in itself.

Very good post, OP. I absolutely agree.

I will mention that this Update especially would be way better if we had Explosive Restricted Freemode Lobbies so that players could engage each other using guns only. The crate pickups are good fun. Forcing people to use trucks and vans. However, being attacked by a Jet or Sticky Bomb Tossing Super Car immediately ruins it. Having people drive up and trying to gun you down would be way better. In the Finance and Felony Trailer, there's a part where there's people performing drive bys using the new Bravado Rumpo Van with sliding doors which enables people to use their assault rifles on the side. It's great.

Explosive Restricted Freemode Lobbies would solve that. Jets would have their cannons disabled so the best ways of taking people out in the air would be either Buzzard/Annihilator Guns (GTA IV Style) or flying a helicopter with your friends using sniper rifles and machine guns hanging off the side. We took down a plane using that yesterday and it was incredible... Until a jet griefer came by and instantly blew up our helicopter.

I personally think that this is one of the best updates Rockstar has ever delivered. The immersion, criminalisation of Freemode and objective based gameplay is fantastic. However, the imbalance of Freemode (An issue that's been present since the start) dulls down the fun.

Explosive Restricted Freemode Lobbies would solve that issue. Those who prefer a chaotic environment would stay in Standard Freemode Lobbies. Currently the separation lies between Assisted Aim and Free Aim. This change would create 4 lobby types: Assisted Aim Standard. Assisted Aim Explosive Restricted. Free Aim Standard. Free Aim Explosive Restricted. Everyone wins.

this update is amazing.

tonnes of freedoms to play gta the way most people will choose to play...

missions in free roam, friendly fire off, be a CEO in an office with wage-slaves, or a homeless bum with a bike that you lose...

c'mon people.

just join up with like-minded people (and you are on the premier website for making gaming buddies) and have fun. do what you do.

strength in numbers.

adapt.

have FUN

If we, glorious weirdos all, all can make the massive amount of friend we have on here to do this game right, then SO CAN YOU. Seriously, the SP portion of the game is perfectly designed for aloneness, the rest for friends, and therefore when you do it alone you're missing a good deal of the fun within the game.

One of the most fun experiences I had was when the PBMO all dressed up as the "Fingerer" and waiting out LSC to assault a guy with bats. He was having such a good time getting killed, he stuck around and we killed him over and over. It was a blast for everyone... now we have this amazing new update that only make the game's endless possibilities more, by tenfold. Tenfold endless... that's like... more than the monies of Trump.

All that just to tell people that their opinions are wrong?

Here is a lesson you absolutely should know by now: Everyone has an opinion, and yes...they ARE entitled to it.

Opinions are like assholes; everyone has one. But also like assholes, it's possible to have a sh*tty one.

The OP is not mad at people for having different opinions; she is calling out their BS excuses for sh*tting all over the update and acting like it's the worst one we got.

This is a good update, the only issue is the sh*tty reactions from the players.

Case #1

Discuss a solution to a problem and give reasons to why it needs to be solved.

#a

If majority forum members don't like it, then reported the thread = locked in minutes

Case#2

If majority of forum don't like something rockstar did or didn't do and whine about it with no solution

#a

Stays open to continue whining about it

It'll be different if points are made

Mine often sh*ts (when I'm unhappy over helicopters, etc.) but I always remember to wipe it, and to be fair to the good parts of things.

Recently some people are like "jets didn't get nerfed, so I'm going to hate everything about the update". That's forgetting to wipe your behind.

I am incredibly far from being an anti-complaining type of guy, and I agree with the vibe of OP's thread. You should be fair; you should be balanced. People will listen to your criticisms more if you are.

When people complain about jets (so all the time, I'm always thinking about this.... thanks, Obummer) I always say "Learn to fly or get freinds who can fly." Again, we are at a place where it's easy to meet people with "a particular set of skills" so instead of having your game ruined by standard tactical moves... beat the moves and enjoy the game more.

It's really not super difficult.
