How much special cargo do you lose on failed delivery?

If I'm selling all cargo and fail the objective how much will I actually lose?
Not if a vehicle gets blown up, just running out of time or get disconnected.

If you get disconnected, you'll lose nothing as it hasn't saved. If you run out of time, you get paid for what you have delivered and I believe the rest is put back into your warehouse.

I must have gotten unlucky then, because I lost 7 crates from disconnecting.
