waveyxhris
I know this is a few years late but today I came across a very intriguing thought. I was watching the video of the last mission in GTA when Franklin kills Michael. In the end, if it is chosen to try and pull Michael up, Franklin starts to pull Michael up but Michael head-butts Franklin causing Mike to fall to his death. Michael had to have known that this decision would lead to his own death so by this logic he had to have committed suicide. But why? He had no incentive to do so. At the beginning of this mission, he was telling Frank how he has gotten closer to his family, he has his dream job, his daughter got into college, and overall his life is getting much better. I do not think Frank's betrayal is enough for Mike to decide to end his own life. Even at that, just before Mike's death, Franklin was expressing regret in his actions and tried to save Mike. So we see there that Frank chose Mike;s side. One theory I had thought about is that Weston might end up trying to kill him and Frank but I mean come on now. Mike and Frank have completed much more difficult tasks then killing an exec. That would be easy for them to accomplish. And if this were true, that would be an act of compassion on Mike's part towards Frank. This is contradicted by some of Mike's last words to Frank being "F*ck you!" and "I should've clipped you when you broke into my house." There is no sign of compassion from Mike, quite the opposite in fact. So what led Mike to kill himself. The only thing that makes sense to me Is that Mike went crazy at the thought of his best friend who was like a son to him trying to kill him. I want to know what are some other theories or ideas about this. Thanks. saintsrow
The Corrupted
It's Michael's egotism. He chooses death rather than to accept that Franklin holds control over his life in that particular moment. Or something. Che Guevara_187, waveyxhris, MikeMyth and 2 others
saintsrow
Nicely written, OP. This should lead to some great discussion, seriously. I did not play that fork at the end, so I have not yet experienced this scene. Now, being snarky rather than serious, I might suggest an alternative theory: Rockstar has no story review process, no editorial oversight, no script review, poor character development and motivation, bad script writers, and generally no clue. This theory is bolstered by their obvious incompetence and total obliviousness in the design of the Online environment, which shows a total lack of logic. Uncle Vlad
I have two possible explanations. #1: another example that the writing wasn´t one of V´s strongest sides #2: knee-jerk reaction because the "son he always wanted" betrayed him
ShiningLight
Karma for how he done Trevor over in North Yankton.
Maibatsu545
It is extremely odd. Honestly V has a lot of poor and nonsensical writing. The proagtonist death endings are also exceptionally poorly written. Why would trevor flee from franklin in fear? The characters all like different people compared to what theyve been established as during the main game.
universetwisters
Because even if he had been saved by Franklin, Devin and merryweather still wanted to kill him.
