If you could pick a career..

Recommended Posts

FranklinsIron

Not talking footballer, pro gamer, singer etc.. Talking, a stable career path, think the sims, when you have to pick a career before job.

Imagine you had the option, complete free training/education to said degree and told you're guaranteed a job soon as you've qualified. And whilst learning all bills and finances covered.. What would it be?

I'd love to become a councillor, for kids going through sh*t/sh*t families. Surprisingly compassionate to people dealt a sh*t hand of cards, told I give good advice and like the feeling of knowing I'm helping someone have a better framemind/positive thoughts etc.

Only been that way last 6 months. Prior when I was a young prick, wanted to be a lawyer or stockbroker.. Ha.

When I was really young. Wanted to be a long distance lorry driver. Waking up at 5am still dark, flask of coffee, radio, freezing out, get in car to depot and get in your lorry, warm up, drive up to otherside of country. Loved the thought (I was that weird 14 year old, that had a steering wheel and blow up chair, set up and role played on 18 wheeler on the ps2, if you remembered it ha ha!

I'm somewhat tempted to become a Gay porn producer/director...I've been taking notes while browsing the Gay forum and Gay porn blog to know what the audiences want to see and don't want to see...

Should email producers/directors or main companies that produce the videos, see if you can get in recording and go from there.

Until you end up being caught for tax evasion then all of the crime of selling illegal drugs will just pile on :^:

Since i am already taking classes for engineering in university, being a mechanical engineer is a pretty obvious choice for me

Good question, the latter :) I'd love to mentor growing talent.

Thing is that we do it differently here in Norway(or so I assume). After year 10, you select a field of study for the next 3 years- Music, dance, theater, art, media/communications, design/craftsmanship, and so on. OR you can go for the general one which has no specialized field, but will grant you " general university admissions certification" (from the education directory's translations page). This is probably the most common one.

If you choose to study music, like I did, you will have the same common core subjects as the "general" direction(english, math, etc) but also music subjects; Ear training, composing, performance, production, main & secondary(also tertiary in year 1) instrument, choir, band, direction, general music theory, applied functional/chord theory, music history, and listening. There might've been more, it's been a while.

At the end of your 3 years, you have a main instrument exam recital which can be public or private. You may also have to do an exam in any music subject or common core subject, but 2 additional norwegian exams are mandatory. The end result is that you have more school and can study whatever you want in uni, basically.

Having studied like that myself, I've seen how great talent can emanate IF the teacher is good. I'd love to be that teacher.

...or even a university professor! Why not teach those wholly dedicated to their art?

you seem to have amazing knowledge (I know you could say, it's a requirement, but still to say it in detail and know what you're talking about, is rare.

You can be that teacher, no reason not to! And you're right, at least at that level, you know every single student is doing it, because they want to. Not because it's a secondary school subject. And yes, a teacher plays a big part in someone nurturing their talents/continuing to progress their talents etc. Hell, a teacher alone can make you completely hate something, due to the negative experience you had if you get what I mean.

So seriously, continue on that path. You'll wake up happy.

I am considering choosing a career within the field of biology or medicine where as I would love to become a biotechnician, pharmacist or just generally work with chemistry, molecular biology or genetics. With my current experience and competencies, I could become a great physiologist already.

Problem is with these careers is that they require a level A degree in math (highest) in the gymnasium before I can even request a spot at the University of Copenhagen, so I am literally f*cked anyway. At least I can dream...

Weed tester, sofa quality control. I could even combine the two.

By the way, every time I see this thread go by, I misread it as "If you could pick a cancer..."

In which case, I'd go for Prostate, every time.

When I was a kid, I wanted to be a cartoonist. I drew constantly, made little strips for my family and read as many books I could find in the library about drawing styles. I then got into music and had these delusions about becoming both an artist and a musician. I later learned there's little money in either, with the industry being more about luck than it is about skill. I still continue both avenues as hobbies but I fell into a career in the healthcare industry, which has worked out better than idly scribbling on a notepad sipping a coffee I couldn't afford in the first place.

See, that is how it works (if you quote references tax evasion). The government is getting their money from you no matter what and anything else illegal you do is icing on the cake.

I'd go for Cancer of the sack. Only need one ball to function and mine are surprisingly very unbalanced so wouldn't be able to tell. I might actually need emergency medical treatment as I type this...

Yours and every other guys, they're "unbalanced" so they don't smack into each other when you walk.
