I remember this thread, me and my mates actually adopted one of the banned words from here as our group chat/discord name when this thread was made, we've been using it ever since.

It is stupid that in a game like this theres censoring of dirty words. And, unlike other games (even the ones where swearing is almost nonexistent), you cant turn it off.

But I think it is one thing if the game is cursing at me or if I see subtitles with profanity or in-game.

 

It's another thing if it's a personal message, which the in-game texting IS. Personally I wouldn't be offended and i don't like the filters, but I think that's what it boils down to.

Yeah. I tried namimg a couple of my outfits "Greaser", but it wouldn't let me, so I changed em to "Rockabilly".

Funny thing. When I started playing in 2015, Greaser was perfectly acceptable at that point, but later on when I edited the outfit an dtried to save it the game went "NOOO YOU CAN'T DOOO THAAAAT WAAAAAH!" so I settled with Tough Guy.

 

God forbid we have to ban the entire alphabet in the future.

Themselves, they don't want to be held accountable for, let's say, a kid being called some vile things through the ingame chat, their mom learning about it and suing R*. It's kind of an extreme example, but you get my point.

This is what annoys me.  Kids should NOT be playing this game.  Regardless if they do, and the fact it's impossible to stop them - tough.  If they hear a load of swears, that's not R*'s fault.  It's the parent's.  Besides, these little sh*ts hear far worse on the playground.

 

But I do see what you're saying.  If I was R*, I'd just say "f*ck you little Johnny, and your mom, we're gonna now include even more controversial content just to piss you and the politicians off even more".  Lol.

There's no irony here. Nobody gets upset when NPCs swear at them. They know it's not personal, but when abusive language/hate speech is directed at you by another human being it's completely different. 

 

It's not the use of the words so much as the context.

But it really really sucks they are censoring numbers, i often have a 188 in my WAN (Public) IP Adress, and if i wanna join the Firewalled Session of a friend (thanks to Codeswines Tool) and i can't send him my Ip Adress, then i have to type the beginning like this 1eighteight.123.456.789 it's just ridiculous. I know it's because of the letter H and seeing it twice HH (Heil Hitler), but hey censoring numbers is bullsh*t.
