Dear GTA Purist, please stop taking this game so seriously

I'm talking about those who insist on absolute adherence to the traditional rules and structures in GTAO, put in place by R*.

I see these threads all the time, people attacking those with modded accounts (+1000 rank, $$$$), complaining about people for using the heavy heist vest, the Pacific standard finale repeat, glitched outfits, modded cars, duplicating cars etc, etc.

It's time you gave up your quest for GTAO purity and stop taking this game so seriously. Remember, one day these servers are going to be switched off, and your perfect account, with no cheats, etc etc. will go with it.

What do others think? Why is GTAO purity so important? it's just a computer game, and my favorite by a long shot! But it's still just a game.

You can't use your stats to get a job, it won't get you into university. It has no bearing on your real life in anyway so why bother sticking to the rules.

Please note: this is directed at current gen players. As I understand there are serious issues with old gen/PC modders in game and can seriously affect your game play.

So long as others don't directly impact on your own gameplay which near impossible on current gen PS4/XB1 apart from the invisible body, whats the big problem?

One thing can lead to another. You give an inch; someone takes a mile.

I don't have a problem with money glitchers at all. You can already get money from shark cards, so it doesn't bother me.

I do think that once these console have been cracked though, the game will fall to sh*t unless Rockstar up their game and/or get dedicated servers. It's not some special effort Rockstar have gone to to make GTA on current gen (partially) cheater-free; it's just the fact that the consoles are new. But they won't be new for that long.

Once they're cracked ... The idea is horrible. Everyone exploding in every session. Idiots appearing on your back, etc.

Everything gets cracked in the end, and Rockstar can't just count on these console not having had that done yet. They need to put some effective anti-cheat measures in place, or the game will fall apart in a year or two/however long it takes for people to get the nastier cheats working on current gen.

I've modded my money, and regardless of what rockstar says, that is not hurting anybody but myself.

Maybe if they lowered their prices on shark cards, I might get one.

But spending $100 real money for...an apartment, and three, four super cars and low riders? No thanks. My level is not modded, my 1.27 kd is not modded, nor my outfits BUT the police one. Again, doesn't hurt anyone.

1. Invisible body

2. Double health glitch

3. Endless unearned money = endless explosives

4. Passive mode abuse

5. Easy way out abuse

6. ETC. you get the point

I don't think players or "purists" as you call them care about the stats, so much as the BS that comes with it. Everything I listed above ruins gameplay for others. If this truly is "your favorite game by far" I would hope that you would respect it and those who play it. The more players who utilize the above "tactics" the faster the game dies.

Just imagine if every player on GTA had endless funds and ammo, with invisible bodys, repeatedly killing themselves at the first sign of danger, switching in and out of passive when they have an advantage, all while using the double health glitch. Sounds fun right. Bottom line being a "purist" and playing it the way the developer intended protects the longevity of the game. I guess a simpleton probably won't understand that.

You know, there are a lot of people without a job, they play GTA instead, of course its important to them. Some people have a job & don't need any stats, but they play it to relax, and doing something else instead of work, work, work... not a great time to be greeted by all this sh*t, endless loading times & stuff. I'd say the 'virtual life' is a part of the real life. Some people watch TV for like 20% of the time they're alive & not sleeping. Some don't watch TV, they're playing instead. You just have to be serious to a degree, if you spend time with it. Why do you even bother? Its just a game.

GTA "purity" went out the window with GTA Online, when Rockstar let in 30 million assholes.

I think what youre coining as purity in GTAO is simply a sign of how well the person/player understands the software or application that is GTA.

As with many other activities we set our ideas of the boundary of what is possible on what we were taught. As we become more comfortable with it we gradually experiment, testing those boundaries to see where the actual line is.

Some are arguably more curious and will have a wider range of experimentation but the point is either way is equally valid. But to someone who doesn't know better it makes sense they would balk at something that contradicts their experience to this point.

Its a question of is it worthwhile to teach them otherwise? Contrary to the saying you can force a horse to drink when you lead it to water... but you end up with a drowned horse. Show them... they can choose to drink or not. No skin off your back.

I enjoy this gta online that I have about four accounts dedicated to this game. Two original and two modded accounts. It doesn't bother me if someone is money glitching or someone who is a rank 8000. I say game on and enjoy it while you can!

i dont have issues with modded accounts as those have no advantage over my legit account, my main issue is with the invisible outfit and people using the damn health glitch...

Unlimited money only affects people who have a serious deficit in their bank account and can't afford explosive weapons all the time in a free roam session. And if you can't afford explosives, WTF are you doing in free roam?!?! You should be trying to get your bank balance up to a sufficient amount. God Mode, double health and invisible outfits are worse than glitched/modded money.

*don't annoy other players with your mods/cheats*

*don't cheat in a competetive environment*

i really don't care if somebody is glitching a beloved car or have a garage spot for his bmx or just glitches some money.

And why should i?

But there are different kind of people on this planet and some of them are just real pricks, calling the cops when they see you enjoying your life. they have issues, bad childhood, whatever.
don't blame them, they will never be anything else than a sheep in this world.

since i turned real fluffy like ui ui ui this game is much more fun, im not getting angry at anyone. there were times with god mode glitch on ps4, it was fun following them around in passive in my car with the most annoying horn honking all the time. if they troll, troll back or leave, simple hihihi. when i see an invisible body i just text them ooooh nooo you lost your body, are you okay?!!!! hihihi. if there is a jet griever i just text him "oh, two small balls in the sky". mostly the find it funny. dont be serious all the time.

i see gta as a zoo with all kind of animals, but the cages were left open. enjoy the show.

The virtual world does not matter but neither does the real world.

I don't know about that. If I'm on the bus and some guy walks in and his chest is invisible I'd probably start freaking out.

I used to be all legit, refusing to do money glitches on last-gen after the billionaire days. Out of respect for myself. Out of fear of being banned. Out of stupidity when I look back on it. Man, I seriously wish I would've stocked up on some chrome Adders or do one of the hooker glitches or something. Having everything in the billionaire days made the game enjoyable but on a different level. Working towards a goal such as a new car is fun but so is buying a new car, modding it and leaving it on the streets to mod another. The game grew stale for both cheating and legit, though. When I had billions, I grew bored of having everything. When legit, I grew bored of grinding missions. I should grind heists instead and I should do the Mastermind Challenge but the reality is, as a lone wolf player for most of the time, GTA offers little in terms of money-making for those players. The game forces you to play with randoms or friends. Now the ideal bank account for lone wolves should be rich as you can stay in freeroam and enjoy the game but even that gets old to some degree when you don't have something specific to do. Your mind wanders and it sometimes walks in a dead end.

I'm definitely not a purist like "DON'T USE THE KURUMA!!! USE THE BIKES!!!". I want results, not experience/showing off skills. At the end of the day you're just a guy sitting on a couch eating cheetos off your chest hair. Not that I would know what you look like...there's a piece right there...no, more on the left...yup, that one.

Exactly as others have said, cheating and modding ruins the game. I honestly don't understand the mentality of people who mod simply to get kills or to p*** other people off. I honestly believe it's a sign of a flawed personality. How do you feel a sense of accomplishment without accomplishing anything?

As for money glitching, as has been said already, it does affect other players as it enables people to abuse elements like explosives which takes a lot of the fun out of battles. Abuse of passive mode and players constantly killing themselves to preserve their KD ratio are cheap and Rockstar really ought to rethink how they work. Make it a big cash penalty, like $10k or more for a suicide. Again, this is something that would be offset by money glitchers not giving a f***, which is another example of how money glitching does actually spoil the game for everyone else.

Another aspect that money glitching killed was, I believe, the casino, I'm sure a casino was planned in the early days but the idea was abandoned as without a balanced economy where money actually means something in the game, it would be pointless.

OP is incredibly naive and apparently simply doesn't understand the implications of what they're suggesting. if you think that being angry about modders, cheaters and trolls ruining online games is 'taking things too seriously' why even bother to play in the first place?

Despite all the whining about Rockstar's policies and practices, the biggest problem with GTA Online is a large part of the playing community, and posts like this prove it.

don't you worry. u would have been broke by now anyway. u would not have more than 50 cars, and your pegasus list would just be filled with things worth 30+ million and u would never use them.

even worse, u end up buying shark cards cause u are used to the easy money. but i am ok with that, as long as ALL OF YOU can be in the same game version i am gladly paying the bill *sarcasm*

I started playing in Feb 2015, and found my early days a real struggle. I didn't even know you could lock your car access. But then I found some cool people online, then this forum and Se7ensins and it made the game so much more enjoyable.

For me, I don't have a lot of time to spend gaming, and what ever free time I do have I want to enjoy it playing missions with friends, having crew meets, running through playlists etc. GTAO is meant to be fun, not a endless grind

I agree those with endless cash are more inclined to blow up Personal vehicles, and use endless explosives, But there's plenty of people that do this anyway.

Interesting to hear others perspectives, thanks for your posts. Happy there's plenty of others out there just like me :-)

I dont mind if people glitch for money (I personally wouldnt but if someone else does, fine with me. Rockstar deserves to have their stupid in game "economy" abused) but if you start f*cking with other people and ruining their fun it veers into douchebag territory.

The thing is to me, GTA:Online was always about rising through the criminal ranks of Los Santos' underworld and becoming top dog. The majority of the player-base though see it as an easier version of call of duty, whilst I dont care for people who glitch etc. It makes me wonder, how much fun are u actually having? Duping a car for the 50th time?

Im actually surprised at how many people find the fun part of this game to be the purchasing part, yes most peoples idea of 'fun' for this game is buying a new car modding it then leaving it in their garage for months at a time.

Invisible body glitches. Are people really that bad that the only way they feel they can protect themselves is to make themselves disappear? Easy way out to preserve their k/d? Modded money to be able to purchase everything? I don't know about you but it seems to me its these types of players who take the game too seriously, not the 'GTA purist' like myself who actually enjoys the game for what its worth.

I complain about modded accounts because they are against the game rules. If Rockstar wasn't so kind with those who disrespect them I'm sure the game would be way better. About the other things, I don't care at all.

A lot of the spirit that was GTA Online went to sh*t after DLC content was released that was not level locked.

Even with the horror that was the first few months of GTA online, I had so much fun climbing the ladder :beerhat:
