Why do you hate modders?

I only hate them in competitive modes.

I welcome them any other time and glad they are around to show us some really imaginative cool stuff.

I don't mind being in a session with a modder, I used to think these guys were great but now it just gets boring very quickly when you've seen them do the same stuff a thousand times.

LOL!

Concerning modders in multiplayer -

Modders can be arrogant little pricks who think they can do anything they want and get away with it. My crew have dealt with modders before and most, if not all, of them were butthurt little kids or teenagers when their mods couldn't help them get revenge on us killing them. They're so lazy they'd traded skill for hacks. It's truly pathetic.

And when we called them out for it, they moaned and made up excuses, like...

  • "I've never gotten banned for a modded account/playing modded software. What makes you so sure I will?"
  • "I'll just buy a new account if I get banned. I got the cash."
  • "Sucks for you, you don't have your own mods."
  • [other specified curse words signifying a fragile ego]

No exceptions should be made to modders regardless whether they have no malicious intent.

The scourge of any multiplayer game.

FFS no the "scourge" of this game are brain-damaged people like you who keep talking about modders like had any impact on multi-player aspect of the game - THEY DON'T!

Modders are single-player exclusive (witch exception of visual things that only the modder can see in MP).

Banning for modding is in most cases impossible, unless mods affect your MP performance (they can be considered cheats then), like changing POV, or colours of uniforms in a shooter to make enemies more visible.

You also used word hacks, which is also different thing entirely.

Once again, if you have no idea what you are talking about, don't talk.

Game is rated for adults, and adults should have basic understanding of what modding is.

You are out of touch with reality and pulling crap out of nowhere. I'm beginning to wonder whether you're projecting your own issues out of people, such as accusing me that I'm not an adult. I am twenty-years-old and have been playing video games since I was five.

Modders are not exclusive to singleplayer at all. They infiltrate multiplayer and ruin it for everyone else. Modders, hackers, cheaters, script kiddies... they might have different methods, but they're all the same in intent.

Wow, you care so much about defining hacks from mods than keeping the game fair for everyone. Manage your priorities, son.

If I didn't have any idea what I'm talking about, I wouldn't talk! Lol!

Is this nonsense still going? FS.

Modders create additional game content.
Cheaters use third-party software to harass players.

Learn the f*cking difference.

Hey as you see at the title mate it says modders not cheaters so some other people says they hate modders example like spawning clones likely to crash your game or spawning things.

But that dosent mean that the opinion they can only say is about modders . I will allow players to say their opinions on cheaters also

Deal with it

There's no difference between a modder and a cheater in online gameplay. They're using a menu that they shouldn't have, that's cheating.

Yes, it is a huge difference, because of such morons like you, people are negative towards modding, which is one of the best thing that can happen to a game, while cheating is the worst (right after such idiots like you).

I'm sorry for harsh words, but it's hard to talk to such people in a different manner so they understand.

Why are they called 'mod menus' and not 'cheat menus'? That's how they're referred to, even by people who 'know the difference'.

Reports don't do sh*t, actually. Also, they can always install their mod menus again and clear all their reports (yes, you can do that with mod menus).

And how would you possibly know if someone has a sh*t ton of money?

Now you've proven me right. For somebody trying to defend their position, you're doing a pretty poor job at it. It makes me facepalm. You've resorted to calling me names and attempted to invalidate my argument saying that I have no idea what I'm talking about, having stooped to a level lower than I. Not very mature.

I could care less what you think of me. It doesn't affect me whatsoever. Nothing will ever change my belief that modding/hacking/cheating should remain segregated from online play, and any breach of or affiliation with that should be punishable with a nice ban.

I also don't care what anybody does in singeplayer, seeing as I've played mods on other games. If you're so adamant, STAY OUT OF MULTIPLAYER or enjoy getting your account banned. :)

I have answered this thread's question.

Not all modders cheat, though.

If they're in online play, they're already cheating. It doesn't matter what their intentions are, they shouldn't be there.

There are no modders online. Modders are in singleplayer. A trainer is not a mod. Is it so hard to understand? Modding and cheating are two completely different things.

You're arguing semantics, OP is clearly talking about modders online. In online gaming parlance, 'modder' is the accepted term for people with trainers, scripts or whatever you want to call them. Nice try though :p

OP doesn't seem to be the smartest. Modder has never been the accepted term for cheater, as it simply has nothing to do with that. But hey, keep ruining actual modder's reputation by calling cheaters modders. Who can blame R* for not giving official mod support for singleplayer? Thanks to gta's amazing community, they think mods are trainers. Well done.

I don't think English is his/her first language, so the perception of intelligence shouldn't be a factor.

You're right though, the 'modder' name has been ruined by 'script kiddies'. The biggest problem is that these 'kiddies' have to get their tools from somewhere; that would be you guys. Perhaps if members of your community policed themselves better and stopped selling or giving away their work to complete strangers, players would be less accusatory.

That being said, there is no latitude in GTAO for any form of 'legitimate' modding. It's against the rules and is therefore cheating. You may not like the negative connotation that the word cheating implies, but that's what it is.

Replacing in game cars with real ones are not ruining the game for everyone. The word you're looking for is script kiddie.

I love how these children try to differentiate Modders, Hackers, Script Kiddies and any other title you'd care to hang on a subset that comes under the heading of cheats, I've been playing PC games since long before most of you were born. My friends and I know all the differences. We have seen them even before there was Punkbuster, it doesn't matter how you want to see yourselves we all see you as cheaters because you are, some of you boldfaced cheaters are actually proud of what you do like you're special or something, lol. We used to go directly through the ports and fry you little bastards in the old days, make your PC's reboot and overclock themselves into oblivion. You should feel lucky that modern games and OS are protected (somewhat). You want to bring cars and objects into the online game: you are cheating. Give yourself and others money; you are cheating. Make yourself or your vehicles invincible; Cheating.
Nothing any of you can say here absolves you of this one fact, if you are online and using Mods, Scripts, Hacks or anything else not provided in the game for everyone. You are just a low life Cheating f*cktard, Period.

Have we come so far downhill that the definition of modding has been lost?

When you're modifying the game through legitimate channels, i.e. not by bypassing security, it's modding. These kinds of people are respected. This has been going on for years with developer support in games like Unreal Tournament.

When you're bypassing security to modify the game, it's hacking. Depending on the intent, it's good or bad.

When you download someone else's tools from the internet to run in an online game, you're either a script kiddie or a cheater, but you're not a hacker or a modder.

Fact is, if the original developer had wanted you to use the functionality contained within trainers, they would have opened it up to you in a legitimate fashion. It's very likely that the game has a license agreement stating that you will not interfere with the game in this manner. Therefore there's absolutely nothing to discuss. Anyone using one of these trainers is cheating, and whether you believe it's for a good or a bad purpose is up to you. Personally, I've yet to see a single script kiddie who actually did something imaginative and helpful - but I've seen many who have maliciously used NPC spawning to crash me, blown up all players on the map, modified other players' personal vehicles and spawned attached objects and prisons to render the session unplayable.

How anyone can even ask the question in the OP is shocking.

@Azarael Your actually wrong, script kiddie has nothing to do with running a game. Script kiddie shouldn't even be used at all!

"is an unskilled individual who uses scripts or programs developed by others to ATTACK computer systems and networks and deface websites."

Had to open up a support ticket, needed to vent and lash out at Cockstar. Cheaters made my game crash 3 times in one hour.

It's starting to reach a point of the game becoming UNPLAYABLE anymore.
I stated about how dissatisfied I am with their seemingly LACK of efforts to tackle this incredibly annoying issue of modders/cheaters running wild.

I have been playing GTAO for almost a year now, and didn't see any improvements. It's actually getting worse IMO. Now you can find multiple script-fukkers in a single lobby, whereas when I started playing, you had to load 3 lobbies to eventually find one.

God how I hate them...I truly hope their filthy corpses rot in the deepest, darkest pits of Hell. And that before that they meet a horrid and grisly end.

Modding is, however you choose to phrase it, cheating. Certain people like cheating in online games, it really ruins the experience. For a long time GTA modders were shunned by the wider community. Nobody cared about your obviously modded gear, it was lame. Go take your ugly pink and orange Kuruma/Insurgent to some other lobby and grief people there, OK? Now though, modding is pretty much the only viable way of keeping up with all the update gear. I mean, sure, the basis of the GTA franchise is characters who rise from being underdogs to rich criminal superstars by any means necessary, but do we really have to emulate that in our playing style of GTA Online? Just left a game where some player gamegirl or girlgamer had a bulletproof head. He just stood in the middle of the street shooting down players trying to collect the 9000 dollar bounty on his head. I keep saying his because I dont think a female gamer would want to break a game in this fashion. Killed me 10 times before I quit LOL.

Why do you assume a female wouldn't ruin games with mods? Is there a psychological and biological reason for this?

I don't care if their mods give them money and a higher rank. If the mods affect other players, then it's just being an absolute dick.

Modding to increase some numbers isn't affecting anybody.
