Golfing in GTA Online

Is it just me or is golf almost unplayably broken? I actually really enjoy golf in the game, but I wish it was actually mechanically a decent minigame. Anybody else have a lot of issues with golf?

They broke the everlasting sh*t out of it when they ported it over from PS360.

Horrible post-shot camera angles, stutter, and I swear to god it's the same golf course from Space Jam with the ball going in when it feels like it.

Shame, I used to enjoy it a lot.

Golf is like the only gamemode that isn't broken....

Yes. Balls vanishing, automated putts not landing, infinite water spouts when other players hit water hazards, wind only taking effect at random, and balls landing in the hole, sitting there, and then appearing on the other side of the hole make for a fantastic golfing experience.

In the game I'm in right now, the shot camera does not work if I change shot type.

Like occasionally wind might matter, it might not, just depends on what mood the game is in. When a ball goes into the water trap it then becomes a giant, constant splash animation for the rest of the hole. When putting the ball consistently pops into and out of the hole, misses the hole, or stops just short of it after a perfectly aimed shot. Etc.

I pretty consistently shoot between -6 and -8 on 9 holes and haven't run into any of these issues.

The Chosen Undead

One time after the session was over, my character showed up on the win screen, and there were 15 clones of Faeryx's character standing behind mine, angry. Never got a picture of it because PS3, though.

Sounds like something is wrong with your GTA, as i never encountered any of those issues. I play regulary Golf and it always worked flawless.

Why the f*ck are so many people allowed on the course with such informal clothing!

All I see are jeans, or flip flops, or high quality bullet proof armour, or tank tops - it's bullsh*t! I swear, if they relax the rules anymore I AM GOING TO SUE!!!

We come here to golf for f*cks sake. This is chaos!

Who plays golf? Tennis is where it's at...

Joking, I used to play golf a lot with friends, we'd get on gta play a game of golf then go off lol, I wish we could taunt whilst watching our characters watch other people take their shots.

I play Tennis more. Golf is good too, but just not my sort of thing.

You have to be so bored with the game that's you'd rather play virtual golf than go around destroying sh*t, I understand that you can find it enjoyable from time to time on a monthly bases but I don't understand how can anyone play golf regularly without getting frustrated or tired of it.

I haven't noticed anything new wrong with it. New meaning in the past 6 months or so.

There's still some long running problems: invisible rocks on the green, "super" rough that causes your ball to fly up to 20 yards farther than it should, camera angles changing mid-flight, poor camera angles to begin with, and the one that just drives me absolutely insane: the wind changing once you've already started your shot with NO indication it changed!!!!

But most of these can easily be adapted to. You just have to remember where the rocks are. Stay out of the rough whenever possible. Have confidence in your shot and don't worry about what the camera is telling you - or - learn how to read the tracking shot (it's never a true angle of directly behind the ball). The first option is easier. If the wind changes? Adjust on the fly or live without that eagle.

Yeah, some days it feels like the wind is a lie. Some days it feels like putts you know should be good aren't going in. A lot of it is placebo effect. Some of it may be just random variations. Chalk it up to a fast green / slow green kind of day. The next round will be better. (Usually, as hard as it is to admit in the moment, it's YOU).

Check that. I've noticed one thing recently. Players leaving during or at the end of a round negates your win. Shouldn't happen from what I understand. But I've seen it a dozen times or so in the past 2 weeks.

Never had an issue with golf and I've been playing it a bunch to level up my second character's strength.

I play golf several times a week. Frustrating? Hello, it's golf. It is no more buggy than rest of the game.

Golf has been broken for me for months. I cant play at all because I can not aim the ball. Rather than showing me the arc the camera just goes behind my character. It totally sucks.

Only issue I have with minigames is that you have to leave the current session to play a minigame, which usually leads to connection error when exiting the minigame and you get thrown to SP. Having seperate lobbies for minigames results in frustrating in frustrating loading screens.

Running around destroying sh*t gets old very old, very quick for me. Different folks with different strokes.

Can't say I play it enough to know. I hardly ever play it.

If you like it, good for you though. I hope they fix it, if it's broken.

No issues here. Only play about once a week though.
