Otter
Preacher is an American television series developed by Evan Goldberg, Seth Rogen and Sam Catlin for AMC starring Dominic Cooper. It is an adaptation of the comic book series created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, and published by DC Comics' Vertigo imprint. =========== The pilot aired this past weekend, and I absolutely loved it. As a long-time fan of the comic, I'm overjoyed with how true they've kept to the spirit of the book but managed to update the story to feel contemporary. The love for the source material is evident and I'm really excited to see where they take it. Has anyone else dived in yet? darthYENIK
I haven't yet. I wanted to snatch up the books and read them before, but I never got around to it. I'm still debating on DVRing all the episodes and wait until I read it. Preacher is one of those comics that I've never read but I constantly hear other comic readers talk about. This, Gaiman's Sandman, more recently Saga. Edited May 24, 2016 by darthYENIK
Otter
Saga is f*cking fantastic. As long as we have a comics side bar here, you really ought to check out 100 Bullets, too. While you're working on reading lists. The show, Preacher, is its own beast. I don't think you'll need to read the books to appreciate it, and I think the show will probably be a better representation of the spirit of books, in a weird way - you can't travel back in time to be a contemporary read of the book. Anyhow, I'm a f*cking massive fan of Joe Gilgun, too, and he really nails Cassidy (even if he does lay the accent on a wee bit thick). darthYENIK
El Dildo
every time you turn around there's a new comic to follow, but it looks good.
Otter
It's an old book, ran from '95 to '00. Very much of-the-time, so it was interesting to see how they rose to the challenge and managed to update the pop culture of the series but also feel true to the spirit of the original. Adaptation master class. So far.

Otter
Anyone else keeping up with this? The chainsaw battle this past week was amazing. I also forgot how much I love a character driven by anger. So fun. darthYENIK and feckyerlife

Otter
Any of y'all still following? I love the treatment of the show but I'm beginning to get a little tired of the how-to-keep-an-idiot-in-suspense approach. Time to spell some sh*t out because mystery isn't f*cking important here. darthYENIK
I'm still watching, and yes I'm not 100% sure on what is happening and why a lot of stuff is happening. But I'm enjoying it. I like all of the cast and it's got it's humor.
