WWE 2K16

Picked this up last week and it's taken me a while to get used to these new controls. I'm not a fan of the new pin fall and submission system. Much prefer the systems on 2K15.

 

Also, does anyone have any tips on how to get the best out of the Universe mode? Like with rivalries, storylines etc? I struggled making good and interesting rivalries on the older games. If I had a rivalry between two superstars they would be automatically booked to fight each other every week on RAW until the PPV and that felt really repetitive and unrealistic. So has that aspect of Universe improved or is it the same old rivalry/story system?

I haven't played a wrestling game since Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 so I absolutely love this game, nabbed it on release date and I still play it to this day, probably got like 8-9 days of playtime clocked in so far. I myself can't find any fun out of the Universe mode though since without a proper goal, I can't find any reason to play it. I remember enjoying the GM mode of older games just cause the goal was to beat out the opposite brand in ratings, but I feel like I'm going nowhere with Universe mode. Universe and Career just share the same cut-and-paste cutscenes where like a dude comes out and punches another dude while they're going down the ramp or something. It's a bit neat at first but gets old real quick.

 

I think you'll get around to liking the submission system, it just takes a while to master it but once you do, submission moves can be extremely effective over going for pinfalls. My favorite match type is 3v3 Elimination Tag so with good submission skills I can sometimes take out one of the opponents before they're even brought down to red health, rather than going for a longer pinfall and having it broken up if my AI teammates cannot stop them.

 

Only thing I don't like about the pinfall system is that it's glitched up on me a few times. One time the meter was moving extremely slow to where it didn't even reach the kickout section before the ref reached the three count. Another time it lagged resulting in me missing the kickout, this actually happens during the last match of WWE's showcase with Stone Cold, was super annoying. Otherwise it makes for some pretty intense moments sometimes if the section is just a small sliver. I remember having a match with "Hulk Hogan" (created wrestler) as Sting, as kicking out of his leg drop after a two count just barely to save myself, had me going.

 

All I really play is exhibition matches since I'm not a fan of the Career mode at all either, since when you're in a rivalry with someone you keep facing them over and over again, it's incredibly repetitive and the dogsh*t voice acting during interviews breaks all and any immersion. I never even got out of NXT though cause it got so repetitive so maybe it gets better once you hit the main roster. I'm just all about exhibition and downloading people's creations who aren't in the game like Kurt Angle, AJ Styles, Sasha Banks, etc.

 

Just love when the game catches you off guard. Pretty much sh*t myself when this happened.

 

 

 

E: Actually regarding the video, that's one thing I love, the crowd chants. I appreciate the special ones like "Suplex City!" and "Bray's gonna kill you!" when they happen. There really needed to be more vocal taunts though without a doubt. Just a few examples that are in the game:

 

Shaemus: "Are you not entertained?!"

Mark Henry: "That's how I do!"

Bray Wyatt: "I'm the eater of worlds!"

Jericho: "That's right, baby!"

Paige: Her scream and, "This is my house!"

Or even Jack Swagger's that makes the crowd go, "We, the people!" and Daniel Bryan's that makes the crowd do the Yes! chant.

 

There needed to definitely be more, especially when serious sh*t-talkers like Kevin Owens don't have any at all. Hope in 2K17 they add a ton more, adds to the realism a ton.

I just made a Dan Houser and The Benz ! caw, tommorow i'll make a sam houser caw, i'm going to have them feud over the rockstar championship (a title i'll create tomorrow)

 

i play in universe mode and next month at extreme rules it will be the benz vs dan houser in an extreme rules match and if the benz wins he'll fight sam next month in a match of his choosing !

 

it's going to be personal ! i just wish this game had promo's in universe mode oh well...

and obviously i made myself a caw so i can be in the game too i haven't been using my caw that often though,

created a system, thought I'd share.

This is if you want to do a MyCareer in universe (bit more realistic imo).

Say you start from the bottom, this is how I have done it.

Three leagues

- Low Card
-Mid/High Card
-Top card.

I then divide faces and heels.

Example: Mid/High Card

Face:

Neville
Darren Young
Jalisco
Woods
Zayn
Cesaro
Ziggler
Big show

Heels

Luke Harper
Del Rio
Jericho
Shamues
Breeze
Corbin
Rusev
The Miz
Owens

I then give each a number between 1 and 9.

I normally start my rivalry on Smackdown. I like to have free control on raw without affecting my rivalry.

I then use - https://www.random.org a random number generator. Click 1 and 9.

Whatever number, I start rivalry with that.

Each week on raw, do a random number.
Every 3 weeks, do a triple threat/fatal 4 way, up to you.

Do the generic 2v2 every now and again. 2 face v 2 heels in rivalries.

Depends if you want to integrate a real environment. Like MyCareer, I know match schedule only syncs with what division.
So if you are in mid card, do rivalries relating to that, pretend top card rivalries/tag ones etc, are just out of reach. Just concerntrating on rivalries around you.

Do not click generate again if you don't like wrestler rivalry with. Kills the "no control" vibe. Hard but can be done, lol.

If you're heel - do rivalries with faces etc.

And only have 10 in each division. So Ten in Intercontinatal / WWE champ etc.. Keeps it tidy, no dumb rivalries or title challenges.

If you're starting from the bottom..

 

Do two rivalries in Low Middle

Do 3 rivalries in Middle - then one with current US Title

If you lose (or when you finally lose US Title)

3 rivalries with Top Middle then IC Title Rivalry

If you lose title shot, reset 3 rivalries and start again.. and so on.
