Advice on storing vehicles in the garage?

Recommended Posts

Voile, theMagicLibrary

Does anyone have any tips on how to make sure the vehicles stored in your garage will NEVER disappear? What do you guys usually do? What's the best garage to store vehicles? What's the worst one? Does it even matter what garage I store my vehicles as long as I do it right?

Is there any rule I must follow?

Cause since I've played Vice city stories, I can never stop to worry about my cars, so I always end up wasting 1 hour of my life checking all my garages in the game and see if the vehicles are there.

Any tip on how to make sure my vehicles never disappear?

Please answer...

Also, on a side note, the impound garages never work in my version of the game...

#1 Look for garages to close all the time.

#2 Don't save game in Safe Houses where garage is close to doors, this may cause glitches with garage - vehicles tend to vanish from garages when you save in these safe houses.

Other than that i don't use anything else, don't store more than 4 vehicles in garage, RC Toys taking one place as well, for example Infernus, Bullet, NRG-500 and RC Raider and thats all you can store in one garage.

Save a MAXIMUM of 4 cars per garage.

Make frequent backups and after every backup check on your vehicles.

If you play on PC, you can use save editor to check your vehicles quickly - not editing the save of course (unless you want to cheat :p ). That would save you a lot of time.

If this is your first time collecting special vehicles in SA, I recommend avoiding impounds, they're complicated, but I'm sure they do work. (Again, you could just check with editor instead of manual checking after you impound something via Pimping, for example - that way you can be sure the vehicle in impound didn't disappear because you looked away for too long)

Also, if you want to store the Truth's unique camper with its paintjob, store it in a small garage and try to not check on it too often, everytime you do you risk the paintjob disappearing, especially if you look away form the garage before its closed.

Santa Maria Beach garage is a b*tch. It's the only garage that has eaten my vehicles. After entering this safehouse, you have to wait a few seconds before saving the game, otherwise your vehicles might vanish. I advise to watch out for Doherty's garage as well. Don't drive next to it, keep some distance and look at it when you are close.

Oh, and watch out for Fort Carson's garage. It appears to be big, but don't use the space that is on the left side of the entrance, as it doesn't technically belong to this garage. Just store two cars behind the door and that's it.

The rest of the garages should be okay, as long as you don't save too quickly in safehouses where the garage door stays open after you enter the house (Paradiso, Palomino Creek, sometimes Hashbury).

Why would you even bother saving in a Safehouse where the Garage potentially opens when you walk into the Safehouse? These are No-Save-Safehouses. There is some you just DON'T save at, unless you like taking risks of having things vanish, but that isn't my cup of tea. My cup of tea would be, to not risk it at all. There is plenty other places to save the game...

2 Cars in Fort Carson?

LvIrzTM.jpg?1

4Buf5tY.jpg

Why would you waste space when 4 can easily fit inside there?

All Garages are the EXACT same. Just like the Mothership is no conspiracy, either. There is a way to lose the paintjob and a way to keep it. If you know what you're doing, you can keep the paintjob. It's a myth of not opening the Garage and keeping it separate in a Garage that you don't use, etc, etc. The paintjob always will be there if you just follow the "rules" in which makes it not disappear. It doesn't vanish for no reason. There is a reason it disappears and it's what I WANT to do especially for the Mothership in Riot so I can turn it into an EC White Camper. The AP Mothership in Black Project is easy to keep the paintjob and it's also easy to lose the paintjob from the one in Riot.

Any Garage that has 4 Vehicles inside is safe, actually. More safe than if you have 3 or less Vehicles inside. Why? Cuz if you drive/fly past the Garage, it physically WON'T open since the tolerance is 4 inside and a 5th Vehicle driven or flown by the Garage will bring a message up about not being able to store more Vehicles in the Garage. If you have 4 inside, the Garage can NOT open unless you're on foot standing by it.

So Doherty is completely safe, driving at 150 MPH right next to it without looking at it....................As long as 4 Vehicles are inside, thus forcing it to stay closed. Vehicle Data is only deleted if the Garage opens and closes while you drive by like a bat out of hell. If 4 is inside, it physically can't open and close when driving by it, thus nothing disappears.

Make note that Dillimore is the ONLY Garage in the game in which CJ can't jump behind the Vehicles parked inside to push them out. So if you go about storing 2 CARS inside Dillimore and not just 1 + 3 Bikes, then you will need to park them like this:

cUkpIWO.jpg?1

See the AP Sadler? See how the front wheels are sticking out like that and I didn't back it up into the Garage as far back as it would go? Well, there is a reason for this. The Vehicles are saved in there, but the Garage won't close unless you run away from it while keeping the camera on it OR you get into a 5th Vehicle close by Dillimore to force close the Garage. Like I said above, a 5th Vehicle automatically won't allow the Garage to open and if it is open, when you get into the 5th Vehicle, it automatically closes. Anyways, the reason they are parked like this is so I can get onto the AP Sanchez and do a burnout to get it out of the Garage, then I do the same with the AP HPV-1000 to get it out. Once both AP Bikes are removed, I can get into the passenger side door of the AP Sadler and drive it out and last, get into the driver side door of the AP Sabre and drive it out. If I would of parked the AP Sadler way in the back like the AP Sabre, then I would of needed a Tractor or Tow Truck to get them out, DON'T DO THIS:

hzeeAGw.jpg

If you do this, then you will NEED a Tow Truck or Tractor to get them out as you can't jump behind and push them out like you can the other 16 Garages in SA. Dillimore is the worst. Only store 2 Cars + 2 Bikes if you know what you're doing and how to park them, etc. But if you don't know, then it's safer to just store 1 Car + 3 Bikes inside there...

But yeah, I don't know what all the fuss is with Vehicles vanishing and people being afraid of some of the Garages. Only when I was inexperienced and on my first ever Special Vehicles Save or something like that would Vehicles vanish, but that's cuz I WAS DOING SOMETHING STUPID, so I get what I deserve. People blame the game, but they shouldn't, as THEY are the ones who probably did something dumb in which made it disappear.

III, VC, SA, LCS, and VCS are more or less the same in terms of the Garages and how they behave. If you know what you're doing, nothing disappears...There isn't one Garage that is worse than the other. They are all the same in terms of reliability...

Impounds do work in SA. You're probably just not doing something right. They are only for Advanced Players. There is a certain way to enter and exit them. Do one thing wrong, Vehicles will not be there in the Impound. It's all about how you enter and exit them as well as taking care of the random Vehicles generated in there and performing the proper steps to get rid of them. Also knowing about how NOT to get the Vehicles inside overwritten, etc, etc. You need to learn before you can use them...

Alternatively, put useless vehicles in garages you will never bisit and put the better ones somewhere safe.

I also like to prioritize my Vehicles. I put AP Vehicles with AP Vehicles, BP/FP Vehicles with BP/FP (and BP/MP Walton), EP/FP Vehicles with EP/FP Vehicles, etc, etc, etc. Also I put small Vehicles in small Garages with big Vehicles in big Garages, logical, right? Obviously. I've done enough SA Saves with 23, 47, 57, and now 61 Special Vehicles all in the SAME Save and know where to park them for maximizing the storage space...

Well, ok, park only two cars there if you want to have an easy access to them.

That's my point. I can get into the AP Bandito and back it out of the Garage. I can use CJ's Body to move the AP Hustler sideways and get right into the driver's side door and drive it out. Then I can get into the AP Romero and drive it out and last, I can get into the AP Monster and drive it out. It's all logical. If you can get them in, you can get them out...

And in my iOS Save, I can get onto the AP Quadbike and drive it out, then get into the AP Patriot and drive it out, then the AP Sandking, and last, the AP Dune. Again, logical and the way I got them in, is the way I get them out...

You would hate GTA III, as in III to get SIX Vehicles inside the Staunton Island and Shoreside Vale Garages, you need to cram them in and in the SI Garage, you have Vehicles PARKED ON TOP of other Vehicles, etc...Still, can I get them out? Absolutely, and quick at that. Same way I got them in, same way I get them out...

You can also do the same as in SI, in SA. Store vehicles on top of each other, or cram them in. That's how i stored 4 pretty big cars in Palomino Creek.

I stored the BP/FP/EP/MP/UC2 Elegy, BP/FP/EP/MP/UC2 Fortune, AP Tampa and AP Sentinel there.

hey @MetalMilitia89 and everyone else that might didn't see this

concerning FC garage

VVV

"space that is on the left side of the entrance"
VVV
that part is totally true
i tried saving some bikes on that side recently and they vanished!
i think the thing is, the game treats the left [lefto looking from front to back] side of it as a normal "non-garage" street/territory and u might even be able to look around w/ your mouse from the vehicle, as if outside...
obv it can store 4 vehicles but those parked on the left side might really vanish...
lol just wanted to confirm that part rlly...

Fort Carson is fine...

I've only posted 12 completely different Special Vehicles in this Topic alone showing 3 different combinations of what can possibly fit in there.

The left side isn't a place you store Vehicles. Is there any on the left side in any of the 3 Photos I posted? No, and none of them disappear, either. You need to park them a certain way, far from the left side to get 4 inside there and not disappearing...

well yea but brand new players might try it, it looks way bigger than it effectively is, so there's a slight "problem" w/ a garage...

just saying it's an actual thing
