/_/_Xrtist_/_/
Does it annoy you that GTAIII has the worst color palette when it comes to the menus, the hud and the cars? Also how about completely blue filtered/tinted (timecycle) gameplay? The blue filtering is at it's worst with mobile port brightness: http://screenshots.en.sftcdn.net/en/scrn/3334000/3334602/grand-theft-auto-3-13-700x466.png If you color a text in red via gxt editor, it shows up as purple in the game, which is completely weird. Now i dont know if this was a mistake or something done in purpose, but in beta screen, you can clearly see "busted" text with proper red coloring. http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/gtawiki/images/a/a1/Busted-GTA3-beta.png/revision/latest?cb=20100118225217 Also red arrow instead of blue http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/gtawiki/images/d/da/GiveMeLiberty-GTAIII-Beta.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130613123001 I also want to talk about the incredibly bad car colors in the game.. They are really, really bad compared to any other 3Dera GTA game. Here is the GTAIII Taxi: http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/gtawiki/images/2/23/Taxi-GTA3-front.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20090415102625 And here is LCS one: http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/gtawiki/images/1/1f/Taxi-GTALCS-rear.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20091205082645 How about VCS? http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/gtawiki/images/0/0c/Taxi-GTAVCS-rear.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20091205082728 Ambulance and Firetrucks: Ambulance: (The writing on the GTA3 Ambulance shows the red coloring they've intended from the beginning) 3 http://gta.rdy.jp/gta3/c_ambulance.jpg LCS http://gta.rdy.jp/gtalcs/c_ambulance.jpg VCS http://static.wikigta.org/nl/images/f/fe/VCS_Ambulance_.jpg Firetruck 3 http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/gtawiki/images/a/ab/FireTruck-GTA3-front.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20090426163711 LCS http://faqsmedia.ign.com/faqs/image/article/710/710142/firetruck.jpg VCS http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/gtawiki/images/1/15/FireTruck-GTAVCS-front.jpg/revision/20100104072645 I'm one of the biggest fans of this game, but it really surprises me that nobody points these problems out.. So what do you think happened in here? Why did they left the proper coloring and went for dark, pale and unappealing colors in the final game? And please don't tell me "it's because of the theme/setting", because clearly it's not according to LCS colors. I just want Rockstar to remaster these games at the same time, with same graphics and colors. I just dont like when it's a mess like this. Just Like 6 Star Wars movies, they need a proper color correction and remastering as soon as possible, with all the lightsaber colors done from scratch. They need to resemble each other; the first three has a lot of film grain on screen, while new 3 has less or none. Old ones are extremely dark thanks to lower gamma settings caused by "modernize" the look and get rid of grey colors and making them pitch black, so they would appeal some kids.. Someone needs to restore, remaster and recolor time these things, and i hope they will do it for 40th year (2017) anniversary of the series.. spaceeinstein
R* didn't change the color scheme the way you want for the Steam version or mobile versions so I doubt R* would satisfy your requests at all. You can always turn to modding your game and have it look the way you want it to look. Kalvin
And please don't tell me "it's because of the theme/setting", because clearly it's not according to LCS colors.I personally think it is, and that LCS & VCS are the more colorful versions of the original games containing that map. Hence it being bloom and neon central (the latter only applying to VCS). Yeah ofc, but they did a great job with the colors and the new and better look of SA mobile, i mean why does GTAIII has to get the worst treatment in the series all the time? LCS also has the same bloom effect with VCS; but you just cant disable it from the display menu, so that why people think only III, VC and VCS has that. stef_92
You are right, I have noticed long time ago but really didn't consider posting a topic about this. It has some bad coloring. Also you are right about this blue tint in mobile version - it is awful and it bugs me everytime I play it. But like spaceeinstein said - you can always mod your game. You can try using the PS2 carcols.DAT (it may look better to you). You can find it inside a mod called "Liberty City - the leftovers fix" Edited May 24, 2016 by stef_92 /_/_Xrtist_/_/, CarlsonRe, UltraGizmo64 and 1 other

I can always mod my game, as it only using RGB color coding for cars and really easy to handle. But my points is that, whenever a new port happens, they never try to make the games more equal, they make them more and more separated. I mean look at VC Mobile, Tommy has shadows! And it's the exact same engine with GTAIII. VC has enough enhancements with bikes, helicopters, more weapons etc. etc.. I just don't get it anymore.. stef_92
What about the blue traffic cones in the mobile version. They are supposed to be red but R* decided to make them blue for the mobile version. However if you run over and break them - the texture of them breaking is red.

How about that LCS IOS thing? they've used GTAIII textures! That port is not canon, its messed up. They've used "Bolt Burgers" texture from GTAIII, but since it was replacing "King Knuts", they've changed the yellow hue to red to resemble King Knuts. I mean talk about lazy.. JRC99
12 noon looks like 9:30 at night IMO. I'm not saying it needs to be GTA V Los Santos bright, but day time never really feels like day time to me.
Arsen Vitiuk
Obviously, the PS2 version is all right. There, all the colors have more depth to them, as it is in all further GTAs (just like LCS and VCS). However, something went "wrong" (if it ever went wrong and was not considered beforehand), and the PC version of III, followed by all the others, were made "bleak" - the game is presented totally in a blueish-greyish tint, and all the bright colors present in the PS2 version have been gone. The only other version that uses the PS2 color scheme is the PS3 one. A shame, really, making such a great game look worse for PCs... Although it may have been due to the limitations of PC graphics cards back in the days, it does not explain why the furhter releases of PC versions and especially the Mobile version didn't revert to the original color scheme. Neon-Noir 198X
I love the subtle blue filter, actually. At the time, a blue tinge was used to convey a cold, modern, metropolis setting. Watch pretty much any drama / action film from the late 90s to the early 2000s set in New York City, and you'll see what I mean. (The most prominent example that comes to mind is the 2002 film, Phone Booth) It's a product of its time, and I love the fact that it's there, but I can understand why some wouldn't like it. Arsen Vitiuk
You may be right. However, the dark grey tone of PS2 version gives the game a much more grim look, as if sending a message that even being in this city is a danger in itself. I haven't watched any of the 'blue tint' dramas, maybe one day I will get to it, however, it just doesn't feel right to me. I understand that back then the 'blue tint' was more applicable to PCs due to graphics limitations back in the day, yet in my opinion, the city has to be dark as it was supposed to be originally. Not only dark, but with deep colors as well.
