I do like how Bolingbroke is set out in the desert and it's layout, but I would have to give it A.S.C.F. That prison seems more real, it's more fun to explore and to mess around online in.

Why can't we vote for the prison Sweet was being held in 'upstate' in San Andreas?

That prison was so secure, it was literally off the map.

Bolingbroke looked way too easy to escape, wasn't really gated. Just didn't really feel that great in that regard. I'm gonna have to give it the ASCF, even though those wooden guard towers looked really weird.

Bolingbroke because actual gameplay takes place there.

Alderney State Correctional. Atleast it's a mission location in GTA IV and the finale for TLAD.

I forget Bolingbroke is on GTA V's map most of the time. Such an enormous waste of space and only feels like it was put there to fill in the gaps on the map.

In a couple of missions that involve flying an helicopter your path goes straight over the prison and Lester obviously tells you to avoid it. It feels like it was put there just for the sake of changing your flying path.
Did you see the frightened ones? Did you hear the falling bombs? Did you ever wonder...

...why we had to run for shelter when the promise of a brave new world unfurled beneath a clear blue sky?

Bolingbroke to be honest, it has snipers and it's kind of more interactive, still would be easier to escape though but everyone is armed like hell.

Lol..?

Alderney prison is one of the most boring and lamer version of a prison I've ever explored in a video game. Bolingbroke is clearly better, no doubt. Its actually well guarded than you believe. Not easy to enter like IV where Niko can land inside with a helicopter and gets no wanted star nor any guard gives a sh*t, what the f*ck??

Alderney prison feels like a cake walk to enter, way too easy to explore for a criminal like Niko.

What's even more lamer is when Niko points a gun at some of the scripted inmates hanging around, they'll try to run ( and some even manage to escape the prison but return back lol.. dumb AI??? ) and all of this happens right in front of the guards that simply stand like nothing happened. Unless Niko fires a bullet, the prison feels pretty much like a circus with no real threat to talk about.

Any attempt of doing this in Bolingbroke and you will easily end up in wanted stars. The guards will shoot you to death upon entering. It may not be as good as real life prisons but this is a video game we're talking about, and what really matters is the experience of exploring a prison, and Bolingbroke is way better than the crappy version of Alderney prison.

If you mod it out, it becomes even more interesting.

Not when you take into account The Prison Break Heist in GTA Online.

ASCF for me as well.

It has some prominent role in the stories in both IV and TLaD, unlike Bolingbroke, which was just placed there without any bigger role. Only thing we has was the constant teasing how we will be breaking in, but we know how that part of the story ended. ASCF also has much nicer architecture, very likely remembering the end of XIX century instead of looking like shoe boxes placed on the desert.

This is a tough one. Alderny State Correctional in original GTA IV is dead, however in TLAD and TBOGT it is a restricted area and has a lot more activity. Bolingbroke is in a much better location. Rural areas are more practical locations for prisons.

You get to see the visiting room in Alderny State Correctional for Gerald after he gets busted.

The last mission in TLAD was pretty intense when you break into Alderny State Correctional.

The Prison Break heist was also a lot of fun in GTA Online regarding Bolingbroke.

Both prisons are well guarded and active (For Alderny State Correctional, I'm not counting original GTA IV, I'm talking more about EFLC).

Its hard to pick one, but I may go with Bolingbroke.

Both are in good locations, but I just hate the restricted airspace thing. Plus, I really like the final TLaD mission, so I'm going with ASCF.

Misunderstood

ASCF any day of the week. Is V's prison even used in the singleplayer lol? I know it's used in Online's sh*tty heist but that's about it and that heist is garbage. TLAD's finale was great and I've always enjoyed exploring the prison (and IV's map in general) so ASCF>whatever waste of space V's prison is called.

Uncle Vlad

I like Bolingbroke´s layout and location, but it´s a shame that it wasn´t used in the actual game apart from one stunt jump (I don´t give a f*ck about what´s happening in Online). A.S.C.F. at least had little use in IV. You came there to get the later Gerry missions and after "Blood Brothers" Packie sometimes spawns outside the prison when you pick him up to hang out (just visited his brother, nice detail). And in TLaD a great final mission takes place there. So I´d say A.S.C.F., especially in EFLC.

Not easy to enter like IV where Niko can land inside with a helicopter and gets no wanted star nor any guard gives a sh*t, what the f*ck??

Indeed, that felt really strange. But they fixed that in EFLC, you get three wanted stars for entering the prison as Luis or Johnny.

If we're talking about the prisons that were featured during the series, we should also mention Alma Mater Prison from GTA 2. Sure it was pretty small, but it had nice location, along with lift bridge and the mission that took place there was pretty intense.

It's quite sad that GTA IV didn't feature Vernon C. Bain Correctional Center, as it is one of the symbols of NYC as well.

Nah nah nah Gta 6

Bolingbroke could of been way better if it had more NPCs in it and was accesible without a wanted level.

Bolingbroke, it's a shame it wasn't used aside from the Online Heist and the absurd Stunt Jump. Someone escapes where they gonna go? it's the damn desert and the guards have precise aim with their snipers.

i got a headache reading this

A. The Prison Heist in GTA:O. You waltz into the prison, and escape by finding an uncalled area and leaving. That's why I said 'too easy to escape'.

B. This was fixed in EFLC.

C. ugh you're tiring
