It's not any different. GTA O and SP use the same files for damage (handling.meta)

Provide comparable pictures of data if you can.

I mainly think of flying out the windshield and wheels falling off. These feel like they fall into the damage files, yet are very obviously different between sp and online.

We need soft body physics for online so people will learn how to drive right.

A lot of things were toned down from single-player to multiplayer by necessity. If the graphics (including damage modelling) were as good in multiplayer as they are in single player consoles wouldn't be able to handle it and there would be HUGE performance difference for PC players just because there's a lot more going on in multiplayer that needs to be processed.

You don't need to examine the game crazily to figure this out.

Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online rely on the handling configuration file(s)* to control the speed, body weight, damage variables, etc. You can restore GTA IV-style vehicle damage just by editing the handling configuration.

The multiplayer framework, network game (netgame for short), doesn't affect vehicle damage variables at all, as it only controls sync between players and pedestrian density/variation.

*I say it in plural because each DLC adds a new handling.meta for the new vehicles.
