Removed missions

First of all, i don't like that these are very rarely in voting screen (almost never). But as many of you have speculated why it is like that, could it be that these are kind of "hidden" missions? A bit like an easter eggs. I bet that there are a bunch of players who have zero idea that these exist.

They were removed from the list to stop mission grinding. I put a ticket in complaining about them being removed back in 1.13? Or so. They were added back in after a while but the removed a 2nd time. These old original missions are kind of incompatible with the newer designs as the were part of the great playlistable free flowing missions this game was supposed to have. It very nearly worked properly when the game was released but has since been dismantled and broken, including hiding the evidence / missions.

Pretty sure it all happened when the lead programer left.. If you remember when all the creator tools were being released. Then we had the widely unpopular timed mission patch, 1.17? Was it?. That patch had noticeable poor frame rate back on ps3, it was a very poorly writen update. Anyway then we got timed mission payment which was the only way to prepare for user made missions and rightfully we expected the mission creator to be opened with the very next patch... Something very wrong happened at rockstar during that period of 1.16 to 1.18. That's when everything went downhill. No bugs from that era have ever been fixed. I've said it before but I don't believe any of the guys that imagined the code and wrote it still work at rockstar, thats why they currently cant fix they game as they just don't know how it was supposed to work.

I see no way to know that for sure, but man, it seems like your guess is spot on. They need to back up a Brinks truck for the guys who did the mission code. Lifetime contract for say $200 mill, lol.

R* probably stopped focusing on missions to make missions for VI/Online.

1.17 Was October 2014, I just looked it up. The time frame seems to match up perfectly. I bet there was a really big sh*t fight between the two parties at the time about what to do with the game. Clearly Leslie lost out. (And the game went to sh*t). To be honest I had no idea who the guy was and how important he was to the game until the event of recent months but I can now see that all the cool things like the tintable crew colours (which have been broken since about this same time) were his code. Real shame he's no longer there. I wonder if he reads these forums. Thumbs up to you if you do old mate .

One way to keep missions on your map is to bookmark them. Potshot, coveted, and coasting are the only ones that will appear once bookmarked but you can easily hover over the mission when on the pause map and press square/x (PS4/xbone) to start the job.

I just noticed they're marked as yellow stars on my PS4 map too.

All my map icons are hidden or I would have noticed sooner.

Well, I'm on PS4 sucka. I've tried bookmarking every job time and time again, creating a playlist with these jobs, but no cigar.

So I remember something about bookmarking. If you do the mission solo and try and bookmark it, it won't, but if you play the mission with other people and bookmark it, it will. ie: cc2, cc3, coveted, coasting ect.

 

Also I bookmarked all my missions during various playlists while I was playing with other people.

 

I know this is true because when I tried to play Dirt Road, cc3, coveted, coasting solo and bookmark it, the bookmark never showed. After I played it with another player and bookmarked it, it showed up the next time I booted gtao.

 

Something to keep in mind if you're trying to get the missions bookmarked on your map.

 

Initially I used playlists to find and bookmark the missing missions fyi.

The removed missions were a victim of a new innovation at Rockstar, called Uploadable Content, ULC. This experimental enhancement to GTA Online will be heavily used in the future, as a new software process, to eliminate game elements that are found to be buggy. Rockstar has discovered that it's easier and cheaper to remove the offending code, rather than debug it.

Are there playlists with any of the missing missions? Not the non contact missions, but Chemical Extraction, Pickup Sticks, A Boat in the Bay, etc.

^ No, they're not that type of mission and they are truly removed. One has nothing to do with the other.

 

Truck Together is playlistable and removed.

Okay, guys, I've added some of the playlists to my game through Social Club, but they're not showing up in my bookmarks in-game. I even added it to the correct console, which is PS3, and they're not in my game.

I added the playlists while my PS3 was turned off. I came on a few days later, and they didn't show up. Resetting the Internet didn't do anything, either, and I don't why that would have an effect on it.

I added playlists over a year ago, but they didn't show up. It's been over a year now, and they're still not showing up, so it's not going to work.

 

Maybe it doesn't work with last gen?

Wasn't on at the time; in fact, if I'm on the forums, that means I'm not on. Also, I've tried turning off the Internet, then on again, but that still didn't work. Why would that have an effect on it, though?

Letting you know you can now start them anytime you want. I just hover my cursor over the job on the map and quick start them.

Coasting is on my job list, but only if the game is in Portuguese. If I switch to English, it simply disappears. Now I wonder what the language has to do with a mission showing or not on the list.
