    • I don't think they should ever be limited

    • 6-8
    • 10-12
    • 14-16
    • 18-20

    • 32-36
    • 38-42
      0
    • 44-50
    • >50 (practically unlimited)
    • Unlimited capacity, but they aren't free. Pay for *every* shot, like the hand-fired explosives are

Are armed vehicles inherently OP because they carry unlimited free ammo?

Should the ammo be limited ever? Just in Freemode? Just in missions/jobs/PvP?

 

I'm not advocating one way or the other, but since some people think certain vehicles are griefmobiles perhaps limiting them with a hint of realism would balance them a little.

I like the idea, but either the ammo would have to be dirt cheap, or the Pegasus fee much higher. Ohterwise, what's the point when you can just blow it up and call in another for $200? Cool down period maybe?

Really, rockets aren't the problem, it's just flak cannons people are on about.

2000 explosive rounds and infinite, high-damage standard rounds to replace them when they're done sounds pretty good to me.

no....they are overpowered because they are to good in other aspects(or to bad)

 

-the homing launcher need a 50 percent damage nerf so it takes 2 rockets to take down any armed helicopter

 

-the 2 jets need a armor nerf 75 to 50 percent so it only takes a few heavy sniper bullets to make it smoke

 

-the savage needs the armor of the cargobob and the bullet proof cockpit so it can withstand 1 rpg hit before a second one makes it going down.

 

-the savage also needs it guided misile mode to have the firerate of the buzzard and a buff on the firing rate of the unguided misile mode

 

-the savage also needs a top speed buff(not an acceleration buff though or an improvement on the handling)

 

-all unarmed aircraft needs unlimited flares

 

-the tank needs to have a one rpg hit one kill weakness at the 2 sidevents at the back and further besides that, overall be able to survive 4 hits and the ability to survive an unlimited amount of explosives underneath it so it can run over an unlimited amount of cars.... exept for mines it runs over, then it shoud become a one hit one kill.

 

-the tank needs a greater turning radius towards the sky to combat aircraft better

 

-the valkerie its main gun range needs to be increased

 

-the karin technical its main gun shoud have a plate to better protect the gunner, an optic and have 2 times higher damage then it has in freeroam and be on the map as a regular dot(to use the gun while driving you need to be with 2 anyhow and any person that knows gtao will always be on the lookout when 2 guys in a car are coming in their direction anyhow)

 

 

and bam....freeroam woud probably be 80 percent more balanced and fun

 

 

edit: im realy oposed against limiting the amount of ammo because i still use some of those vehicles to just finish off npcs at freeroam....it feels just like a buzzkill

I like the idea of buying ammo but only for pegaus vehicles, the limited ammo would work well with stolen vehicles

IMO yes it should be limited to a somewhat realistic amount, maybe a bit more than the real deal since it's not a mil sim. But... There also needs to be places to rearm if that's the case to avoid players from just ditching their ride once it's out of ammo. So if there's ever a ammo limit adding a rearming station at all helipads & runways would be a must IMO.

Explosive rounds are the problems. Nearly every time I have been killed by a jet is when explosive rounds hit near me. They dont even need to be on target and you can be killed in cover.

Limiting ammunition supplies isn't the solution we need (or the one we deserve). Properly balancing vehicle weapons and armor so there is a decent system of checks and balances and reasons to use each vehicle is.

 

Rhino and Savage armor, jet cannons, everything on the Annihilator, etc. all could use some reworking for instance.

If GTA goes the route of limiting ammo, I don't see why it should affect anything other than the jet really - that's the only one that's a little overpowered right now.

 

If they limit the jet's ammo, I don't think you should just be able to pay and have it reappear right there and then. Then you'd essentially have infinite ammo anyway, and it'd just be a money-drain, which is lame in my opinion.

 

As for all the other vehicles, they'd only deserve an ammo limit if they were buffed in some other way. Otherwise, they're not currently overpowered, and don't need it.

20 rockets, 2-5k explosive rounds and 7500 non-explosve rounds seem reasonable to me.

maybe a cool down mechanic (10 seconds of straight shooting then going through a 10 seconds cool down before shooting again)

but that one would actually be a real cooldown to allow the cannon barrels to cool down. You could always hop on the wing and piss on the barrels like in the good ol days :)

I also paid for all my guns too and, funny enough, I have to pay for ammo for them if I want to use them.

You should see how much I spend on ammo after freemode wars. I think the price tag is irrelevant, the idea of unlimited ammo leaves a lot to be desired. $3 million wouldn't buy you a jet and unlimited ammo from the manufacturer thrown in for good will.

Also a valid point.

 

My take on it is that only jets really could do with an ammo cap. The rest are simply too weak to warrant it in my opinion; not unless they have some kind of buff to their armour.

Well, if I said jets only, certain members would probably try and lynch me :lol: but if R* were looking for ways to balance the more powerful weapons (assuming the tank got an upgrade etc) having to pay for ammo might help balance things out. Nobody is going to strafe for hours on end like they do now at what could cost millions in ammo when those hours were up. I mean, the way I look at it, if I fight somebody (or a jet) from the ground, paying money on ammo to engage in the fight, why shouldn't they too?

You could always hop on the wing and piss on the barrels like in the good ol days :)hahaha i remember when i was a kid, i was watching a vietnam movie, the guy was shooting a big machine gun like an m2 browning and it was overheating, so a few soilders got their junk out and started peeing on the thing to cool it down hahaha

 

accorind to a interview i did to a vietnam vet, that was a real thing they did back then hahaha

If you want to limit how many explosive rounds the jets can fire, making the gun overheat after a couple seconds of continuous fire is a better way than limiting the ammo. The rockets and non explosive machine guns aren't powerful enough to need a limit

so "take a piss" dlc? ...and why stop on jet cannons, maybe car and bike engines could use a good soaking too every now and then... for example driving from city to baleto bay at full speed, engine overheats, park at the side of the road, pop the hood open and ahhhh... TTTSSSSHHHHHHHHH! cloud of yellow smoke clears and good to go again... or imagine standing on the side of your yacht and taking a piss into the ocean! pls rockstar...
