Creative Ways To Mess with AFK Players?

One of the added bonuses included with GTAO, beyond playing along with dozens of like-minded folk, is that there are characters in the game we can mess with, just for giggles and out of boredom.

Some of them include Cops, shop workers, NPCs and pedestrians, and even Merryweather pilot (a la Johnny Onthespot style).

But, perhaps the most fun you can have is when you find that blip that's been just sitting stoic for ages, not moving and not participating.
Sure, some players just ignore them and keep moving, figuring that the AFK player is just getting a sandwich or making deposit to the throne.

Me, however, well... I treat them as an opportunity to see what creative ways I can mess with them, should they pop back into the game.

Some examples are:
• surround them with the same vehicles (ie, surround them in Patriots)
• move them as far away from their original location as possible

• have them mugged

• place a Bounty on them and see who comes after them (to which adds another dimension of fun by hiding behind the AFK player and attacking would-be hunters)
• gently pin them against a wall with an Insurgent
• place a ring of sticky bombs or proximity mines around them
• and more!

So, curious to know what creative ways you might have to mess with AFK players?
I'm always open to new ways of keeping this game entertaining!

Cheers! :)

ps. If you're offended by the idea of messing with someone who's AFK, then perhaps you should do something else, like a Heist or go to a car meet. Those are fun.

Send mugger as you stand near them. Watch them get robbed, steal mugger and then profit.

-Kill them with a melee weapon

-Scope them from point blank range with the heavy sniper

-Calling a mugger

-Whacking them with the barrel of the tank

My previous record for mugging an AFK player was twice, as most of them get kicked for idling before you get chance to mug them again. I recently beat that though. I spent around 3 hours in a session with 1 other player and the odd player coming and going, and he was AFK and must have rubber banded it. The player in question had a questionably high rank, and also had "-MODZ" at the end of his name. I was looking for stunt spots so it didn't matter to me that there was no-one else in the session (it was actually better for that purpose).

I lost count at 15 muggings, but considering you can do one every 10 minutes it was potentially 18 (I think 15 is a fair guess). Due to his "leet hacking skills" I made over $130,000 profit from that guy, making it by far the most profitable stunt hunt I've ever had!

Thanks AFK guy :D

Use them as target practice for the Buzzard's miniguns.

Also, putting a sticky on their back could be great.

If they're in a car, Cargobob it somewhere new.

I like to see how many different melee weapons I can kill them with before they come back.

Its great when they do come back and you get to kill them again and they see a score of 12-0 or something like that. The looks on their faces must be priceless.

You should always keep an eye on a timer, and also kill them as that resets idling.

I just act like they are not there...wich means i treat them like npcs

One moment i ignore them, the other moment i kill them :p

Of course i mug them now and then to...or if their vehicle is nearby put a mine on it

My favorit thing...though this only happened if a player that once atacked me goes iddle, is to kill them so many times that in the end they spawn in the middle of nowhere.

Legitly sucks if you dont have a heist active :p

I love to pick on my friends when they go AFK. I give them back the money they get mugged for and sometimes use them for a kill or two for a weapon skin. Getting my hands on a fire engine and spraying them halfway across the city before they come back to get kicked is also a hell of a time.

Sometimes, when playing for extended periods with my friends, they'll desire a specific car for their garage, and when they go AFK, I'll literally surround them with every instance of that car I can find.

I've tried moving AFK players but I always find that their character slides back to its original position eventually. Is this not the case?

Call an airstrike on them

Funny enough, I've never done this! Seems a bit extravagant, but now... well, I gotta try! :)

It's also fun with friends, my friend went afk in first person, came back, after like twenty seconds of being back he asked "What's that beeping?"

He got his answer quite soon after that.

I transported a guy's T20 up into a tree today with a Cargobob while he was AFK in a clothing store. The Insurgent is also good for pushing vehicles into interesting places.

Guy with a Beer

A friend and I once used a buildozer, truck and cargobob to to deposit one AFK player onto a frieght train.

Guilty as charged for going AFK a lot.

But I have enough sense to be in Passive when I go AFK.

I mug them then go on my way. If I get 10 k I'll come back after the cooldown and mug him again, repeating the process until it kicks him out.

Yep love mugging them. Sometimes I'll get a few machete or hatchet kills for fun. Even jumped of a moving car to kill a passive AFK. Right before I left I took my heavy revolver and shot a player in the bawsaq. AFK players in a T20 or Adder are the best because I dump their cars in the ocean and they pay insurance.

Always one of two things:

  • Silenced Pistol to back of the head
  • Flick Knife to back of neck

anything else just isn't cool or classy
