Well, the title of the subject is a statement of opinion, to which it's hard to agree without any real basis or argument presented with it.

In your comment, above, you state that the game's been unplayable, but I've found it to be as playable as it's always been. Sure, sometimes empty but sometimes plenty of other players.

So, while the idea that free events may have destroyed you're game experience, I can't really agree that they've destroyed mine.

My game is still very much intact. As I write this, I'm right now having a massive shootout with the police at the Grove Street convenience store in story mode. So yeah, my game isn't destroyed.

It didn't destroyed the game, but it sure did destroyed the Smuggler Planes, Cop Distraction, Armor Truck and Crate Drops. One of the reasons why Freemode Events Update wasn't a relatively good update to begin with.

I think OP meant the lobbies have been empty because people running to the free events.

Its not the Events though, its just the matchmaking, I mean, yesterday I spent 1.5 hours trying to get into a decent deathmatch, I began inviting people to my bookmarked maps, I was lucky if three people showed up.

I accept invites and I see 5-6 ON CALL folks...and I'm like, why cant i get 5-6 On Call folks sent to my map invite?

 

1.5 hours to get into a deathmatch, pretty ridiculous. But then there are days where we go on Deathmatch sprees.

So i guess once in a while I should expect a s#itty gaming session.

No but I would like to present my scientific research and my data has shown that it is the players within GTA Online that have destroyed the game.

 

My solution is dousing each lobby with bleach.

They are not ruining the game but some of them need some adjustments. I hate spawning near random planes even when I'm not even doing the event

At least you have the option of ignoring (turning them off to you) some of them, if you choose

TBH, I think E&OC free mode events are quite nice, but...
- when they start you can't enter jobs by foot (really annoying),
- old free mode events are gone (most of them), or bugged,
- while they last, you cant see your "on call" indicators,
- with being kicked from the servers/all other people leaving it's hard to even finish one (especially the longer ones),
- almost nobody cares about the events that you have to go to (like castle defence).
I can't think of any more at this time, but there is a lot of problems with those events.

tl;dr: Many problems but not game breaking.

When you're in passive mode it plasters an annoying purple banner that says "You can't participate in this even in passive mode" but then it takes a while before it tells you what the event is so you can decide to either stay passive and ignore the event or drop passive and participate.

If you decide stay passive it still clogs up your screen with the score(s) and timer and you can't check location/vehicle name/etc by tapping D-pad Down until it's over.

I like the events because they are an easy way to make cash with little effort. Most folks ignore them which makes it even easier. Hunt the Beast pays more than a day of objectives.

I don't think they did. The game's always been a little shaky to say the least anyway.

 

I wouldn't mind some things having adjustments though. Like marksman god said, the plane spawning thing can be annoying. Also, I think Piracy Prevention could do with being less one sided - it's either a Hydra bombing everyone, or a helicopter being hopelessly shot down, and its occupants spawn killed on the beach.

Freeroam have destroyed the game if you look at ps3 there more action you cant stand still and not be killed.

In ps4 you kan stand still and not see a other online player but the servers are full.

Ps3 is more fun! It got action!

But in PS4 the player are more wide spread they dont stay in same place making it feel empty.

They have taken away the fun the fun was to battle it out in the city it hardly no battles at all now cause all is makeing events.

Take out the beast is sh*t

Playstation 3 was more fun it got more action and was easyier to invite friend and ask some one to be friend.

I miss playstation 3 it was more fun sadly i sold it and cant play it otherwise i would play.

All the updates in ps4 have broken the game to be less fun and destroyed the mission.

 

They sad they got big plans for ps4 but they have destroyed the game!

 

I think ps3 gta5 will live longer than ps4 gta5

 

More players dont mean more fun it mean more chrashes constantly i get all the player left the server!

Yeah I miss these events, why can't they just run online at the same time? I loved Crate drops! The special event ones were so much fun!

 

But I love being the beast and some of the other events, I'm till hoping to get the Duke O' Death event one day, I live in hope!

I kinda agree with the OP. Adding more things to do in freeroam effects the player population. For example. The server is full of players but the world seems empty as half of them are doing freeroam missions or chilling out in apartments. This would not be a issue if the servers did not have a 30 player cap.

 

Plus the do this or that R* mentality is annoying.

I just want the old events back. I got over 30k the last smuggler plane I shot down before upgrading to Xbox One. And I loved blowing up armoured trucks. And the only reason I went after crates was to piss off other players. A guy once tried to run me over for about 20 minutes while I climbed up and down a ledge wearing the T-shirt they were after. He was parachuting towards the crate earlier and I killed him seconds from landing on top of it.

 

Way more fun than driving backwards without crashing.

Whenever an uninteresting freemode event occurs like the headshot and sniper challenges I tend to quickjoin a heist on-call, but because of the freemode events the notice never says which heist I'm on call on.

 

Is it Prison Break - Plane on Easy? Is it Fleeca Job on normal? Is it Pac Standard Finale on Hard? I'll never know and it always annoys me when it isn't a good paying heist and the team consists of low levels.

Well the 1st thing is players indicators should not exist period. You should not be able to simply follow someones blip.. If you don't actually see the player.. then tough sh*t. Thats how it should be.

 

And everything else is optional. All the events are not a MUST play.. its just sh*t to do. No ones telling you to do anything.. And free roam is more then just a big death match. Killing players is just optional.

 

 

And making friends is easy.. Just like making enemies.
