Why is GTA online so play to win?

Having all players equal from the beginning was how GTA IV's Multiplayer was designed and it was boring as ****, IMO (though not just for that reason)

GTA IV's system didn't save your progress in any way. The way this multiplayer would be better is if the blatant upgrades were sidegrades, not just making you twice as powerful with no drawbacks.

There were 10 ranks in GTAIVM. Getting to 10 got you a trophy, but each subsequent rank required that you kill more players (or was it make more cash? Something like that) than the last rank. That data was saved and didn't reset every time you started the game. It also saved clothes like the "viral" outfit you got by killing someone who killed someone who killed someone who killed someone who killed someone who killed someone who killed a Rockstar employee.

GTA0 is a "GRIND to win" game. I recently started a new character, and, as OP points out, low levels are completely disavantaged in PvP. So I don't even think about it. I'm grinding solo missions for RP and GTA$$ so I can later actually play the game if I choose to. I've easily gotten over rank 70 and still going, and I'm still not ready for any PvP until I get to rank 100.

Then I take back what I said and admit I am a moron about gta iv as i havent played the multiplayer for more than five minutes. Then again the things it DID save wasn't a lot and was purely titles and how you look instead of a sidegrade or something that'd be useful. I remembered it incorrectly as all i knew was having to pick up weapons the entire time and resetting everything once i quit.

My apologies. I'll make sure to do so whenever the quotes get stacked to 5 or more.

Anyway, after the slight reset of the thread, please, answer me this question: How is it fair and balanced, from a gameplay perspective, to give more health to the more experienced players?

Because i worked for it, and earned it; and its part of the game mechanic as it is with MOST games...

Also, its not "gaining more health"

Its maxing out your health to its full potential.

No one starts the game at full health.

How is it not fair though?! Low levels need to earn weapons and etc and if you aren't bad you can easily kill other players online.

People who first played GTAONLINE on Oct of 2013 dealt so much BS and we barely had good weapons. Now, newbies can easily make money and buy good weapons without having to wait. It happens in every game this isnt new to GTA nor a controversy. IT SHOULDN'T CHANGE.

Name a single reason why, because it's in a few games (of which the only other i know is watch dogs), it's a good mechanic.. A single one. Cod doesnt do it. BF doesnt. CS:GO doesnt. TF2 doesn't. DOOM doesn't. The list goes on and on.

It is purely unfair, and unbalanced.

No offense OP - but are we supposed to have low health forever? We were all once low levels once who got picked on by high levels, especially if you played since day one. You adapt and eventually learn workarounds beating high levels. Just because you're a high level doesn't mean you're good at the game... it just means you either boosted or you do a lot of jobs. Why should someone who only plays the game for a couple hours have 100 health?

And unbalanced???? Low levels can now start off with a bullpup rifle, a bullpup shotgun and the homing launcher - back when we only had the micro smg and a pistol (if you played day one). You have to earn things in this game, not just have it handed to you.

The fact previously people had to deal with it doesn't make it okay. It is still a statistical advantage you have over newbies.

This seems like a hot debate (since it's got to 4 pages).

I'll just throw this in:

If you don't get anything new unlocked from ranking up, then what's the motivation to rank up?

Let me ask one thing to you, OP. Do you like to be handed things to you? Us high levels still hope they give us new weapons which unlocks at a certain high level. Earning and grinding makes it worth it. If you don't wanna grind then just stop playing?! Or yanno get friends and gain levels with missions or fleeca jobs..

Just because you're a high level doesn't mean you're good at the game, no. But if you are a high level and good at the game, if you were to fight an exact clone of you with level 1, you would DESTROY them, even if they had all the weapons you do. This is unbalanced and unfair.

It's not supposed to be "fair and balanced" it's supposed to reward those who play their game and give them incentive to stick around for a few months. Possibly it is also to reflect real life.

You are essentially asking "How come the guy who has spent the last year going to the gym 5 days a week is stronger than me?" "Why is the guy who has gone out shooting three times a week a better shot than me?"

If you think "enjoying the game" means PvP battles in free roam I feel really sorry for you, there's just so much other content and things to do.

its part of the reward system, anyway at the end of the day experience win over everything.

as recent as last week i was once again accused of being a modder because i was owning this 2 high level players with my second character which is a low level 35.

i told them not to feel bad because while im playing with a character level 35, in reality im a high level player with over 2400 hours of experience.

Unfair and unbalanced, is a matter of opinion... specifically your opinion.

The fact that a lot of people like the game the way it, shows that all those people seem to think otherwise.

Read the first post damnit, I'm already level 134. I still think it's unfair. No, I don't want things to be handed to me, but the things I work towards to be fair.

Not necessarily. I sometimes used to play on a friend's low rank character, and I'd deal with groups of players hundreds of levels higher than myself.

You have a decent assault rifle, sniper, and homing launcher, as well as proximity mines. Low rank players can also find the Buzzard.

If you use what's available to you, you can put up a ridiculously good fight.

A little while ago I was playing some team deathmatches with 8-10 people. Most players where level 100+, but there was a level 38 who more or less owned everyone and was mvp in every round. Think that says something about the advantages OP is talking about

You sound a lot like Xenoxx, lol. Anyways, back on topic - not all high levels go searching out low levels. If anything, some high levels like myself ENJOY helping lower levels rank up, get some cash and get that new car they want.

Your answer is also subjective - I saw a level 7 obliterate a level 191 last night. Of course, the high level got him a good 5 times but the level 7 got him about 12 times before he rage quit. It's not always about health and what weapons you have in your arsenal, it's about skill and how you use said weapons.

I do tons of other stuff too, but the problem is that the guy who went to the gym 5 days a week and the shooter are better than you because of SKILL. Not because of unfair advantages.

The difference isn't going to saw off both of your legs but it IS the difference between an instakill and a two shot kill, so it's bad.

It's not giving more health, its the player leveling up.

So you think that players should all have the same stats across the board from rank 1 to rank 1000? You think that someone who has been in SA for hundreds and hundreds of hours should not have an advantage over someone who has maybe been there for fiteen minutes?

Imagine two criminals, one is an experienced veteran of the underworld. Skilled in firearms, tactics, piloting, explosive, has great knowledge of the city and experience in all aspects of teh criminal life.

Now imagine the other, a new guy in town, few skills, no experience, no real knowledge.

Which one do you think is likely to win a confrontation between the two?

The health stat is supposed to represent how tough your character has become after a long time of hardening up on the streets.

It's fair, get used to it.

If you don't like it, restart your character every time you get to level ten. Tell us how it goes.

I get the feeling this thread could run for a hundred pages and the OP still wouldn't have taken a single thing on board. It's an exercise in futility.

wait, I think OP missed my last post which could be a game changer...

I have an analogy that might help with the health issue...

If you play(ed) rough or extreme sports you know that the more you hurt yourself over long periods the easier pain is to handle. For example. The first time I broke my leg I cried like a baby, the 2nd time I broke it (4 years later) I skated to the hospital myself using a tree branch... And it was "much more broken" than the first time. So yes, your body does get stronger / adapts over time when you're active.

Hope that helps you enjoy levelling up :)

I'm sure we've all gotten healthier and can handle pain better than the day our parents created our character, right?

BOOM!!! ME FTW!!! :p

ABSOLUTE NONSENSE.

I have been killed many, many, MANY times by people a couple of hundred ranks below me and people who hadn't even broken 100 yet.

Players have skilled, confidence and ability that does not reflect their rank? Absolutely, stats can have almost nothing to do with it. Your own argument has defeated itself.

If you die to quickly, thats your problem. And wtf are you on about? If you have more experience than you should have the upper hand. You're probably one of those people who bitch and bitch about everything cause special snowflakes like you can't win anymore. And if you have a low level don't go picking fights with people who have more than you. Its common sense. Something you lack it seems.

use bp helmet...

thats the ultimate equalizer in pvp situations.

seriously, for new players, the game is more balanced now that it was back in 2013.
