I just bought GTA V for Xbox one, me and my brother have setup the online and everything but we're just lost in all the things you can do.

Any suggestions on what we should do first?

You will need rank and money.

Someone might suggest that you purchase a modded account created on X360 and then transfer it to XOne. That would certainly save you a LOT of time and effort, but it probably will make the game much more boring for you.

Go outside and get shot?

I was gonna say, run, and don't stop :p

EDIT: Seriously, play in Invite Only and do races and simple contact missions to rank up and get a little cash going.

FlacidJack

Go fill up on snacks then learn to eat them without doing the eating animation.

Here's how to save you time...

Open interaction menu > inventory > snacks

You can leave that menu open & eat without the animation when;

- in a vehicle

- in cover / leaning on object or wall etc

- aiming & firing

Also armor, the higher your level the more armor you can carry (up to 10). Stock up at Ammunation and stores (before robbing them).

Good luck! :)

Nothing you need to do first in particular, just accept any appealing sounding invites that come up on your phone and figure out what you enjoy over time. Everything you do earns money so it's all good.

What FlacidJack said is good advice for combat. Don't let his flaccidity bother you, he knows what he's talking about.

Go outside and get shot?

In Los santos or chicago?!

But first thing you should do is go passive mode and air thrust high level fools.

Play in invite only until you figure out the basics,do missions, races, heists and other stuff that gives you money, and then when you earn enough money just get all the properties, vehicles, weapons, clothes...that you want.

And also, don't trust invites promising you 9999999 $ and RP,those are just clickbait bullsh*t.

Tonguegirl

Go to a clothes store and buy a Heavy Combat Suit (heist gear) from the counter and save it in your outfits (Edit outfits/save).

When you start doing heists change the clothing option to Player Saved Outfits and choose the suit. Not all heists and set-ups give you the option but most do.

Purchase a Special Carbine and start doing some Survivals with 2-3 experienced players. At low-rank you'll be able to pick up free ammunition and you can learn firefight techniques and discover how NPCs can do some BS spawning and T-1000 aiming.

You're going to be killed a lot for now, so fight against NPCs for a while so it won't affect your K/D (if you care about that. Hopefully you don't)

My suggestion would be to start saving money for Eclips Towers. I think its like 400k orso the cheapest one.

The reason is because you can fill it quickly with modded Sentinals that drive down that street between 22:00 and 03:30 which sell for 15-17k each.(look at youtube to get the idea) You can get 7 or 8 in one run and just sell them every 48mins.

Secondly you can do Heists from there, the first one(Fleeca) takes 20mins incl all setups and pays 75k nett profit.

Up till then just play contact missions(15mins before finish pays the most look at greyleafgamer on yt for tutorials) Missions pay roughly 20k per 15mins.

And last there is VIP work but you need a buzzard for that along with 1mil cash so forget that for now. Those missions pay up to 25k in 5mins.

And also go in invite only sessions when you are getting money made, saves allot of trouble.

With that logic, he should get the S. Shambles garage (about 1/4 of the cost of Eclipse) that has the gang-car lot across the street) that spawns $11,000+ cars all day and night

I made millions off that property. It also suffers only 0.001% of the BS slaughterfest that goes on outside of Eclipse, and it's close to an LSC, a ranged Ammunation, and a Pegasus helipad.

Find a good group of players to play with as well.

What he said about races, missions, and Invite Only. These will give you some early money, as well as helping increase the driving and shooting stats for your character. Once you have some experience, try doing a few survivals. These will help you learn how NPCs behave in-game, how and when to use snacks and armor items, as well as providing you with ammo and weapons you may not have unlocked yet, which you can use until you turn the game off.

While you may be intending to originally just play with your brother and perhaps a couple other people you know in real life, I strongly recommend you use the internet to find more people to play with. GTA Online is almost always better with more people, and a lot of activities are best not done with people you randomly met in-game. Do try to avoid heists until a bit later though - they are a bit more complex than most missions, have less room for error, and do require you know a decent bit about the game (and/or that you are able to learn from from other people). Of course, as noted above, having a pool of other people you can play and talk with makes heists much more fun and doable.

Tackle public free roam only after you actually have an idea of how the game works, otherwise it will probably end in frustration when yet another jet buzz kills you.

Bring up your phone and check the Los Santos Autos website. Get the Elegy - it's free. Then get to an ammu-nation and grab the Special Carbine. Should be cheap and one of the best weapons overall. Then just start doing missions with your brother (start off in an Invite Only session to learn the map/game, afterwards hop in missions by pressing Start - Online - Jobs - Rockstar Created). Just do as many missions as you can until bored/tired. That's the best way to make easy money and learn the game. Some sound advice here but the modded Sentinels is way too much for a new player. We don't even know if OP knows the car names and he's just joined the forum so forget linking the modded vehicles thread. It's just too much for a new player. Let him figure out the game then we can start suggesting how to make money using tactics (mission timers, save NPC modified vehicles, etc.).

You don't "need" a Buzzard, it just makes life easier.

However as he already mentioned, to be a VIP you must have at least $1.000.000 in your bank. It's probably best to be a bodyguard for another VIP to start off with, just to get a little head start on how VIP works and how much money you can make on average.

Don't even think about using a helicopter in public until you've had a few hundred hours of flight time in them/a ton of practice.

Keep an eye on your minimap - if you see a jet icon, run for cover.

Do some missions, get a feel for things. Grind, and - when you're a decent level - see if you enjoy free mode battles. Later on, try heists.

Rob a store and shout "get the f*cking cash in the bag right NOW" awkwardly into the microphone, lol. You get 1000+ dollars and a wicked police chase.

1. Open a Rockstar Social Club account

2. Buy a Special Carbine rifle and make it your best friend until you rank up enough to get the Combat MG.

3. Buy a Bullet-proof helmet. Can't believe I just suggested that but you are new so you deserve a BPH.

4. Work out your aiming settings and test them out in Gang Attacks or Survivals.

5. YouTube and Google are your GTAV friends when it comes to answering questions you may have so ask them anything.

6. Go in PASSIVE MODE when you want to go shopping in FREE MODE or you will be killed when you are trying on a shirt.

7. Play Story Mode to get a "feel" for the game and it's controls.

8. The game is meant to be a grind. Embrace that ish.

Put glitter and tinsel on the GTA disc because currently that's all you're getting until this organisation update comes out. Pretty graphics and big shiny yachts.

Would that ruin the disc if you put glitter on the underside of it and put it in your console/PC?

Honestly curious how destructive glitter can be.
