IkaR3CON won't like me saying this but I do feel it'd be better if there was a bit less strict modding of these games in the future. The old games had more of an anything goes feel and we got through them ok whereas this one's had quite a lot of posts deleted that could have been left in. Just my opinion.

I didn't want to hide any posts but they'd get reported and other staff members would remove them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Meh, I didn't have a problem with anything that got removed. Most of it was just accusations, name-calling, people trying to argue. There's no need for all that in the game. In my opinion.

I think it's a shame when an entire interesting conversation gets removed because it got a bit feisty at some points. Call me an anarchist but I like a bit of fire in these games otherwise it's just numbers going up and down.

Yeah that's the real problem. Too many tender hearted little snitches and wannabe mods. I wish the mods wouldn't cater to them by deleting everything they report, though. Not you dagger. I know it's other mods coming in and doing the deleting.

Civil fire's fine. Off topic rambling, old grudges, that kind of thing, doesn't really warrant a place in the thread, in my opinion.

 

Take the Vapid vs Declasse gentle p*ss-taking, etc. Nothing wrong with that, and nothing personal about that.

 

I think if people are bringing down the entire game with personal arguments (many from months ago) then it doesn't have a place here. That's just my opinion though.

But one question about doing the "Best Weapon of Weapon Elimination" game, Should we incloud Double-Barrel Shotgun and Revolver in there or leave them out?

Before this thread is inevitably locked, I just want to point out the highlights of the game. Those highlights being:

• Brand puns
• livejoker's comedic, and entertaining commentaries
• The variety of discussions (most notably as to what the Ruiner was actually based on)
• The unexpected turn of events. I.E. Dewbauchee being saved when being at a low critical score.

Now there were probably more I missed, but these are the highlights I found to be the most interesting in the game. This elimination game was quite interesting to say the very least. Thank you IkaR3CON for being the host of this game, and for bringing interesting discussions to this forum, and thank you to those who participated.

Anyway, So this is what I suggest we do for the next game.

First we do a DLC weapon game for the weapons that got left out.

Revolver, Double-Barrel Shotgun, Flashlight, Compact Rifle and swiftblade????

Then after that we'll do the Ultimate Weapon Elimination to find the best of best.

Not going to lock it just yet. I need to make some edits to the OP. LiveJoker said he had a pretty busy day/weekend but he might be good for a commentary tomorrow. I look forward to it.

 

I agree with VinceVega84 that we should have a separate elimination game just for the DLC weapons that weren't included in the previous games. Then the Ultimate Weapon Elimination Game, as Khaisz states above.

 

Both Vince and Khaisz would be excellent to host. Khaisz has been an OG in the games, always gives good advice and has a strong understanding of the rules. Vince has also been strong in the games, very quick with score corrections and good vibes overall (the Final 20 list came from a post he authored) so either of you guys would be legit.

 

Nacho & Texas lament the idea of posts being deleted, theres always a lack of breadcrumbs from any recent flare up so its hard to piece things together when this happens. Deletions can seem like a big black REDACTED mark on a thread. As a viewer I understand that.

 

In "If GTA Forums was a Public Lobby" I think alot of it was necessary. It got very personal and vitriolic and there's a huge domino effect to dramatic posts that often lead to much larger conflicts. I think the deletions were less necessary here in the "Vehicle Brand Elimination Game" but it surely got very personal, very quickly a few times and I can't say I was mad to see some posts deleted either.

 

I do think the mods step in a bit harder than Id like but they're extremely helpful in keeping the game on track. It's a mixed bag.

 

As a voter, sure it would've been entertaining to see the games wistfully descend into madness and chaos, people pick up the pieces of their shattered egos and walk away none-the-wiser with only themselves to blame. Its different when the drama doesnt affect you.

 

But that's not conducive to good gameplay, it clutters things with unnecessary arguments, it's gets off topic, only the brave on the forums dare enter, people don't vote as often or feel pressured to change their opinions to fit the vibe of the strongest personality at the time. This is all in the midst of score corrections, graphs, and everything there is to do inside/outside of GTAForums. Drama sucks from a logistical standpoint and it sucks to police too.

 

Theres a difference between being a voter and being the OP of these games. I adopted a heavy hand as OP. Two contentious 40+ page games later (31 people + 41 auto brands) its hard to say the end doesn't justify the means. But trust me, I'm glad to take a break from hosting for more reasons than one.

It's a fair point, just because I'm relatively bulletproof when it comes to personal insults and whatnot doesn't mean everyone is and there should be protection there. In all honesty I would leave everything in there as I secretly enjoy the madness but that's why I'd be a terrible mod. I think a compromise can be reached where we agree not to be too personal in our comments but also only to report people if they've genuinely stepped over the line. That way arguments can occur but not be censored and deleted.

I think we need to give it a couple of days before deciding the next game. To let people on the forums digest the contents of this game, celebrate Vapid, commiserate with whatever, and then come up with their own ideas. Just a day or two to see what other people think. I've no problem with the 'rest of' weapons game if that's what people want.

If that was true then there would be fewer people involved with each game but the reality is that more and more people are getting involved.
