Players you can't lock on?

Ran into a group of guys today I couldn't lock onto on foot, but they could me. Is this a new thing? (Xbox 1)

Sure you weren't in free aim by accident? Most players in free aim are usually very good.

Had that happen sometimes, also some weapons will lock on further away then others so it can be that as well.

Could be freeaim, could be out of range, could be friends/crew, could be lag, could be a lot of things.

 

Or you are on full freeaim and tbey are on freeaim assisted or partial or whatever its called.

It's a mod, some good modders can attach to modded accounts, same with people within sniper distance not rendering when you aim on them

As for the topic, this happens to me on XB1 when lag is bad. I learned a long time ago when would "wake up" in Free Aim lobbies to shoot freestyle, which I still do even in Auto Aim lobbies.

I've been accused of being this or that, but it's merely just free aim style. Also, if the players were strafing a lot or rolling around, that might be cutting your aim-lock, also.

 

I recommend playing Survivals and only shoot free aim style. That's how I got better at it (and I'm still pretty horrible! lol!) Cheers!

Check your settings when in the lobby to see if you're stuck on freeaim when playing in an autoaim lobby. It's happened to me before - typically done by the game messing itself up when accepting friend invites or timing out from a targeting mode change prompt. If not that, probably freeaim settings as said (as far as I know, please correct me if I'm wrong, there's two lobby systems and it's freeaim and autoaim, meaning full-on freeaim can play with very-light-but-present-lock freeaim). If not that, probably modders but that's unlikely...unless the revolution has come sooner than we thought!

Thanks for all the replies. My settings are set to auto-aim,so I believe that is the type of lobby I should have been in. It was two out of three friends, the third guy I could lock on to normally. One of the guys was texting me a lot talking trash, but when I told him I know something wasn't right, the texts stopped. Had bumped into his crew other day and one of my bodyguards complained about same thing. No worries though, blocked both guys then changed sessions. Was just wondering if I need to look out for this now.

Could be a guns in passive mode glitch or something similar. There's nothing new on Se7enSins, but it could be an old glitch or one that was unpatched recently and they happened to find out. R* has the bad habit to unpatch old glitches with a new released patch.

Usually happens to me in Deathmatches against guys with glitched Bullet-Proof Helmets/Masks combination, Invisible Body [email protected] and the guys with glitched Heist Duffel Bags.

Just for whatever reason the auto-aim goes up in the sky or just cant seem to get the bullets out.

Now I know there is vicious debate whether the clothing glitches and BPH glitches are harmless or not but if you ask me, we aren't given those clothing options in-game which tells me when someone does do them, it has to at some point fug things up.

It gets so tiring playing this game legitimately and having to play against invisible bodies and I don't care if I encounter them in Free Mode, but in Deathmatches...it pisses me off when other enemies are dying normal and the guys with clothes, invisible and mask glitches are flickering seconds after they go into their dying animation. It's such Bulls#it.

I am pretty sure you (and the others who post similar crap) arent joking... and its kind of scary.

 

You make assumptions because you dont understand a thing. That is normal. But then when you realize you dont understand it you cling to your ignorance instead of educating yourself.

 

Is it frustrating when someone cheats to gain an advantage they use against you? Absolutely.

 

If you choose not to make use of something open to everyone, regardless of why... its YOUR choice.

 

Not cheating, your decision.

 

Someone turning off auto aim (so you cant use that against them) and being a better shot than you, does not a cheater make.

 

The duffel bag is a part of a Heist costume; Purchased by EVERY player who Hosts them. It is part of the setup cost each Heist Leader pays.

 

The player you are mistakenly labeling a cheater for having a Heist costume item on simply took advantage of the SAVE OUTFIT feature.

 

Some Biiiig cheater huh? Did they reach into your console and turn that off on you? The answer is no.

 

So the other complaint you made about invisible clothes is equally indefensible.

 

The player had the content on their console at one point, but after the item was "put on" it was deleted from their console. The next time the game is loaded it no longer knows what you were wearing and cannot load it.

 

That doesnt make the Avatar model stop existing or in any way impervious. Just no pixels to display.

 

You might as well blame pencils for bad hand writing or the internet for porn. The player used the way the mechanics work to an end that it may or may not have been the original intent.

 

We cannot infer anything more until the developer takes some kind of action.

 

If you dont want to use the feature you dont have to. But realize you have the power to make a different choice at any time. Not choosing to is a choice too.

 

Whatever you do decide, please choose to stop perpetuating bad/inaccurate information.

Missiles don't usually lock onto people on foot, just to vehicles (they lock on to enemy npc but I'm fairly sure they never lock onto players). How do you know they could lock onto you? If they did it was probably a bug/cheat. Unless you mean that you were on foot and they were in a vehicle, then it was a bug/cheat for sure.

If you are turning off someone else’s auto aim and they are in an auto aim session then you are cheating bud. Some of what you said I agree does not constitute cheating necessarily but using a glitch in the game to make someone else’s game react differently than normal in a pvp matchup definitely is bogus. I am not talking about ghost mode or going off radar or bullshark which all give advantages but are accessible to everyone. I have encountered players who drop below the map and attack from a position that is completely impossible to get into for anyone else who isn’t aware of it.  Then talk trash to people who complain.  I also had a moderator come in and turn their 649 level account back to a level 25. So apparently R* doesn’t like that behavior either...
