Hardcore Mode for Missions ideas.

Flacidjack asked me to clarify my idea for a Hardcore Mission mode so I thought I would. Most people have thrown around the idea of harder mission/more payout for a while now. So I think we can put together some good ideas for how it might work.

Hardcore mode would be a sub-menu in the mission lobby screen that the host would check a series of boxes that contained disadvantages which, while making progress far harder would increase profit substantially.

Each box checked would increase payout by various percentages.

Each checked would pay out +15%

Enemies are given one spare heavy armour.

50% more enemies.

Advanced AI snipers.

Each checked would pay out +20%

Ammo limited to 100 bullets across all weapons.

100% more enemies.

Weapon locks (players would be limited to basic pistol, carbine and shotgun).

No access to armour or snacks.

Each checked would pay out +30%

Map blips removed.

200% more enemies.

(Edit)

Hardcore mode would disable all use of

access armoured vehicles.

access Pegasus.

access to phone

Which would mean +40%

These are obviously sketched out payouts and player would be free to check as many as they want to pick their payout and mission difficulty. Obviously players would use more resources so that would have to be factored in.

This would also give more life to the missions we have all played a hundred times. you would be able to replay missions on various sets of disadvantages and difficulty levels.

(Edit 2)

Hardcore mode would only be available after

rank 100 (+15% options)

rank 200 (+20% options)

rank 250 (+30% options)

Oh boy 50% more enemies sounds more aggravating than challenging. Especially if you consider their habit of spawning right on your ass.

I'll make a suggestion of having police activated in these hardcore missions.

If it were to be balanced properly and have an adequate payout i would love that. Recently I've taken to playing Potshots and CCO, ect on hard mode, the constantly spawning enemies are super deadly, more so than the usual contact mission. You really have to be strategic and tactical to beat them without spamming snacks/armor. If R* added a batch of missions similar to these but accessible via menu as well as map, with a beefy payout...well i think we'd ALL love that. A lot of us have wanted more contact/storyish missions more than anything else...Lamar missions were a step towards what i'm talking about, but should have been available to play solo with back up AI like No Hey Branca and Geralds boy. PLEASE R*?

I've come up with my own hardcore mode so to speak to play with friends.

To keep it short, the main points are:

-No HUD or radar

-Not allowed to purchase weapons, you have to get them through jobs, gang attacks, dead enemies. Only pistol allowed, and you can buy attachments and ammo for all guns.

-You may only use non-insured PVs on missions and they must be disposed of afterwards.

These main rules alone make contact missions a completely different experience

Great ideas. I think it would quite neat if these were used in some sort of "daily mission", alongside the daily challenges.

Just a shame Rockstar don't seem to be moving away from Adversary Modes and Benny. :/

if you prefer having hard ones , then i would prefer based off the overpowered NPC ( but buffed even more ) : like police interceptor/gang cars has speed of super , NPCs are now having a range of sniper rifle & being able to lobs grenade , police being able to see through wall , NPC bullets are capable bypassing any sort of defenses ( including a kuruma's , rhino's , and any structure that player hugs for cover ) , each bullet dealt damage of combat MG and accuracy of sniper rifle , police instead deploy armored kuruma , buzzards and insurgent ( replacing the police transporter , police maverick and police riot ) and last but not least , ULTRACOPS !

I meant clarifying your post not a full thread, but after reading your OP i would really like something like that :)

It would at least add more enemies to the really easy missions, which is about 98% of the missions.

It would be awesome, ai snipers without blips. Scary sh*t right there.

Their accuracy while moving is enough to make this a bad idea. The mission calls for enemy spawns are small. It would make already tight missions impossible.

flood in the LS river: Check everything except no armoured vehicles, BAM 40k IN A FEW MINUTES
the idea needs a bit of tweaking but the concept is there.

we'd definitely need to adapt but "impossible"? Far from it IMO. Maybe a couple missions would get bananas, like LS Connection, but we could just keep it on hard difficulty for that one or up one notch from hard

...Or work better as a team :O

Point is these would be extra difficulies (check marks) beyond the ones we currently have, so nothing would change if you just pick hard as usual.

What about the vehicle locks? An armored kuruma would take all the challenge away.

What about hardcore freemode for LVL 100+

(like the red dead redemption freemode)

Just so this looks more like an online mission idea / concept thread than a wishlist post here's an idea I had to make missions better & hardcore of course.

what would you think of an 8 player (max) PvE lobby in which the host would have options to start a mission without leaving freeroam and other options like...

- set the max number of players for all missions (up to 8 players)

- set the difficulty higher than hard (hardcore, nutty, balls out)

- set restrictions on vehicles and weapons in missions

- spawn specific vehicle(s) at the beginning of missions

- set the spawn location of the mission (default, current location, waypoint)

After playing many contact missions and single player mods that allow us to make our own I think this is a great solution to all the current contact missions issues. We would still see a bit of loading at the start of missions but once completed we would all load back into the same 8 player lobby seamlessly pretty much. So would you play that?

Yes, I definitely think that there should be options like this for missions, with appropriately increased payout for the more hardcore. It's too bad that Rockstar doesn't understand the concept of options.

Slightly on topic -- I've been playing "All in the the Game" (the Simeon Grove St Baller repo mission) on PC, and lately, the hood just keeps spawning more and more NPCs, attacking from multiple directions. And they're mobile, coming from a distance (as opposed to spawning right behind me). It's challenging and fun. Too bad I don't get 25 RP for each one, since they're just regular NPCs, not part of the mission.

EDIT: PS: I happened to be playing the Max Payne 3 soundtrack playlist on youtube while I was replaying "All in the the Game" for the 50th time or so. The youtube sound was much louder than the GTA0 ambient, even the gunshots, so it was like one of those violence montages in the movies, with a downbeat, pessimistic drone soundtrack. Really cool. I felt like I was making a Michael Mann film :)

That's an idea.

Maybe in hardcore mode armoured vehicles and Pegasus are automatically disabled.

how about a skill map?

headshots = more money.

the fewer snacks and armor used = more money.

used a karuma = default D

die= f

The Wandering Hunter

armed Pegasus and armored personal vehicles need disabling by default if you want to make a mission anywhere near challenging

then give a small cash bonus for:

disabling all personal vehicles and Pegasus

limiting your weapons to the last you used (3-1) more money for fewer available

no snacks or armor

increasing enemy numbers in a few steps, or increasing enemy health in a few steps

disabling phone services

making your head explode if you go afk

Same here, but rank 100 for "veterans"? It should be 300+ I'm a casual player and playing since day one, I can guarantee that I was rank 100 near Christmas 2013.

Rather than find more reasons to be annoyed at the issues with on-foot combat and NPCs auto-aim, I'd like to have mission options that would both buff the payout and give strong incentive to make use of all the tools at your disposal - be it vehicles, weapons, or other things on the map. The idea being that you create a sandbox environment for the mission with less of the purely scripted and arbitrarily limited stuff that was in heists.

For instance, rather than disable Pegasus vehicles or the mechanic, you might add in things that make them no longer all-powerful. NPC-controlled tanks for instance would making using a Kuruma dangerous, while NPC Lazers and Buzzards with actual AI so they don't just lazily fly in circles or crash into the ground most of the time could be a powerful threat to even airborne players. NPCs with RPGs appear in a couple of missions at current, and while getting blown up isn't always a lot of fun it is a challenge that makes you actually prioritize targets and makes some vehicles very hazardous to use without having some skill (try doing Chop Chop with a Rhino or Kuruma instead of a Buzzard to see what I mean here).

Imagine hardcore mode in heists.

Complete all heists, including setups, on hardcore mode with randoms, and you will be granted a permanent mod menu.

Urustay Gordov Matt D.

There was a difficulty mode in the Devil May Cry series:"Dante must die"

If enemies hit you once, you die, but at the same time they are one hit-dead also

There should be a similar mode in GTA online , restricted to only free-aim players.
