New to SA...

So ive played SA for years but only on console, just bought it on Steam and I want to get the best possible version.

 

What mods are crucial to have? Not worried about graphic mods, dont really want to change the "feel" of the game. Just some to up traffic levels, draw distance, spawn levels, maybe a lens flare mod?

 

Any suggestions are great!

First downgrade your GTA SA copy to US 1.0. With this your game will be totally moddable.

Use google for it. Search gta_sa.exe compact or gta_sa.exe hoodlum.

 

Then install:

 

• Silent's ASI Loader
• Mod Loader (MUST HAVE!)
• SilentPatch
• SkyGfx
• Widescreen Fix
• GInput (if you have a joystick)
• PS2 Vehicles (install them if you are using skygfx and you will have the same PS2 reflections as a real PS2 console)
• PS2 Features

 

With these things you will have the best experience.

Oops, I almost forgot add a must have in SA: Mod Loader.

Thanks! Il have a look at them, I just need the ASI loader + Mod Loader to load everything in? Which is the Mod Loader I want to use?

And is the Steam exe not compatible with mods?

If I'm not in a mistake the Steam exe (3.0?) it's almost unmoddable also it's obvious some memory addresses are different in comparison a 1.0 exe so the mods won't work.

 

EDIT:

Downgrade your GTA SA copy.

Drag, drop and replace Silent's ASI Loader into your root folder.

Drag and drop modloader.asi and modloader folder into your root folder too.

 

Create a folder into modloader folder (e.g. modloader/mods/*all files goes here*)

and voila!

If want to play two players, there is the two player mission loader. This mod enables the multiplayer just like it was on PS2. but with added bonuses like being able to enter seperate vehicles, and go farther apart. I made a

of this mod today.

 

Another mod I use in that video not listed is manual driveby mod by ThirteenAG. It allows you to hold a button to do freeaim drivebys instead of just looking left and right. Just like GTA IV/V.

 

Both these mods require Ginput to work best.

Ok so, ASI Launcher, The Mod Loader, then install Cleo? Then download the mods mentioned

Yup, but first downgrade your copy (obvously). Then install ASI Loader, modloader and CLEO.

 

Personally I install everything on modloader like this: modloader/mod name/gta3.img/*all files which exclusively goes in gta3.img goes here*

You guys are great! I know GTA modding scenes are always pretty solid but I didnt expect this much help for a 12 year old game! Il give it a go and let you know how it works out, thanks!

Haha damn that's true, my bad.

Also, how it works? Doesn't replace only the exe as the same way of download it directly from google? I have never used it.
