So I got the D.O. to parachute dangerously under 200 ft. I can usually go to the big bridge by the docks and jump off and parachute and have done it multiple times.. Well I guess that's not allowed anymore. I've plummeted to my death 5 times now with no parachute deploy option once,

WTF R*

Someone confirm if possible maybe I need to restart but I don't think so. Restarted, still dying, even went to a high building and jumped off still no parachute option. Fukin bullsht

EDIT: You have to buy a parachute when on foot or car when trying to jump from a building or other now. If you get in a aircraft of some kind it auto spawns when you jump out. But now on foot you have to buy it every time before you can jump off a bridge or building other wise you commit suicide.

Always been like that. Before you probably happened to have been in an aircraft sometime before the jump. There's no patches comming for ps3 ever.

Negative was always able to jump without needing anything because I bought the parachute and reserve long ago.

Wrong.

you wont have a parachute in your inventory unless you buy one or unless you have been in a aircraft.

reserve parachutes are a 1 use item, you need to buy them again everytime.

If they're really active enough to make such minor changes, on the respected-but-now-mostly-dead last gen, then it really rubs salt in the wounds of everyone begging for little changes to the game.

Like, they can do this, but they can't look into fixing wall breaches, invisible outfits, fixing matchmaking glitches, balancing out jets and the homing launcher, improving stability, etc.?

Of course, they must've figured jumping and having a parachute was a bigger deal. Much OP.

On topic, I'm pretty sure you'd get a parachute if you jumped off anything on last gen. If it's not working like that, I think they must've done something, or something's up.

No, he's right.

You need to touch an aircraft at some point in order to get a parachute available. I've had the parachute/reserve since the Flight School DLC added them.

Don't fret. When you eventually upgrade to next-gen you'll be delighted to find out you can't put on armour any more during missions, VIP events, all sorts of things, for some mysterious reason, and then, suddenly, you can.

Rockstar give us brilliant games, provide us with fantastic free updates now and again, but don't fix stuff - on old gen OR current gen.

No, Before I could load online for the first time of the day. I could look at my dos if i had a "parachute dangerously" objective i would hop in my car drive to the big ass suspension bridge. Get out of the car hop the railing immediatley pull chute and complete the objective. Without touching a plane once. THAT has now changed and cant be done anymore.

You had one in your inventory already. Nothing has changed and it's always been like that.

When you get in a helicopter or airplane you get the parachute. That's a 1-time use parachute and it stays with you until you use it, even if that's 3 weeks and 100 sessions later. You've got it and you keep it. However, once you've used it you have to get another on or next time you jump off something, you'll die.

You can, of course, buy them at Ammunation, but they're still only 1-time use. You have *never* just happened to have a parachute before. It's always been because of 1 of those 2 reasons.

I'm going back to day 1 on PS3, and it's still the same on PS4 today.

Hate to rain on your parades guys but for the longest time,

1) Equipping an outfit with a chute on your back gave you a free chute

2) Changing your reserve chute's design gave you a free reserve chute. It's possible this worked with main too but I don't recall doing it.

Both are now recently patched, because R* are c*nts. It wouldn't surprise me as per OP if you used to spawn into sessions with a chute either.

You're wrong. If you don't already have a functioning parachute equiping an outfit with one still won't give you a functioning parachute. This has been posted several times as a glitch on se7ensins and each time debunked by simply telling the poster to:

Use your parachute then equip the outfit with the chute and go jump off a bridge...SPLAT.

Fyi: if you don't see a chute on your weapon wheel you don't have a functioning parachute.

I still don't get why so many people use the jumping off tall buildings method when there are aircraft located all around the map that will give you a guaranteed free chute as well as an easy way to do the objective.

I'm wrong that it used to work like this, or I'm wrong that it is now patched? i didn't say it would work now.

However, I was just f*cking around trying to replicate it and did in fact gain a free reserve chute. I definitely haven't bought one (for, like a year) and yet I have one (shown as a '2' on my weapon wheel. I'll do some more playing around - it didn't appear immediately.

Either way, I promise you faithfully that you use to be able to reliably do what I said.

Jump off the Devin Weston hangar @ the airport or do the parachute jump 'Dropping In' you'll get the objective every single time.

You had to have a parachute in your inventory to use one, even if you have an outfit with a parachute, doesn't mean you have a parachute.

It's been that way for-f*cking-ever.

I just tried on PS3 and it still works (booted up GTAO just to test this). Bought a chute, jumped from the building across the street from the cop station (a hotel I think?) - there's a fire escape ladder/stairs from the street to the roof. Chute deployed OK, although I still killed myself by licking the opposite building :p

I just spawned online (first time today on xb1) with a chute in my inventory. Got in my yachts heli and paraxhuted back down. After loading an outfit with a glichted chute...I still had no chute in my inventory. I jumped off the nearest bridge and guess what. Bugs Bunny packed the chute.

Nobody's saying that would work. I said there used to be a way to do it and it was patched.

If you buy a parachute and save outfit, Everytime you load up that saved outfit, the parachute will always be there regardless of weather you had one or didn't beforehand. I've been toggling parachutes on by switching to my saved outfit and I almost always never had one beforehand.

Edit: Not sure if it works on ps4/xbox1/PC because I'm still stuck on ps3

Edit #2: Nevermind, appearently my reply isn't really valid

Parachutes are great for this kind of thing.

From pulling someone's 'chute, to wind-blowing the canopy, the joys are endless.
