I like to imagine the concept of a complete free-for-all afterlife whenever the mood's down. Infinitely better than reincarnation, as I don't find the future of this planet to be particularly worth living, what with my personal prime having long passed. I mean, this whole idea ain't based on any observable fact, but imagine being able to have a party of a lifetime with all your ancestors, friends from all around, and just to throw it in, your favorite fictional characters at the same time, re-experience whatever your glory days might be, and have it take entirely new paths in some kinda controlled environment. For those who'd prefer a retirement, going to sleep for 1000 Earth years would be an equally valid option. :p

We could even have an afterlife Rockstar Games creating the best possible products of fun with zero time constraints or cancer cells also known as Take2 getting in the way, although I really would not like to be that guy who has to moderate afterlife GTA Next speculation threads.

i’ve been wanting to post but anxiety creeps up on me since it’s been quite some time since my last post on this part of the forum. 2020 has been a sh*t show and has made me become even more of a cynical bitch.

/slithers off back into the void.

I'm feeling a sudden nostalgia for the 2000s. The TV shows (especially Cartoon Network and Pogo lol), the movies, even the cricket matches seemed more exciting/magical back then. My experiences were probably more specific to my country but I'm sure lots of others from that era, like people in their late teens to mid twenties everywhere are probably wistful about that time period now ( unless they're doing much better now and even then they may feel this). So I wonder if the zeroes will start getting more popular as a time period akin to the 70s to 90s. That'd be funny cause at the time I didn't think much of those days and didn't the 2000s have a reputation of not having a defined identity like the previous decades?

I don't mean to dwell too much on nostalgia, the good old days rah rah and all that but this feeling of nostalgia came suddenly to me now. Thinking about it one day some are going to feel similarly nostalgic about the 2010s lol, it shouldn't be funny really but idk 2015 onwards wasn't that good personally and to think someone would look back pleasantly towards those years when from my POV it was a bit sh*t, I find that funny, though I guess the smartphone era really took off in the 2010s so maybe it's a pivotal decade after all.

One thing I've learned is that you never like the current decade until it's over.

Who knows? Maybe the whole COVID pandemic will be nostalgic to someone in the next 15 years.

I was at work and as usual a word I never use popped into my head. Gubernatorial. Only thing I could put that down to is I watched that Ranch it Up vid on YouTube after seeing the 'cheers bro I'll drink to that' gif a few days ago and imagined him saying something like 'it's gubernatorial dude' as some made up word. I might've heard it on the news but can't remember. Or in a game.

Probably a common thing but I hate how I'll find this song I really like, binge listen to it and finally end up getting bored of it cause I listened to it too many times too soon, and then there's never the same magic listening to it again.

@Utopianthumbs This is a very habitual occurrence for me. I know I will end up just not enjoying the song as much, but I follow through with listening to the track dozens and dozens of times. I once listened to a singular track well over 100+ times in the span of a week and I only listen to it occasionally now. This also happens to me with bands and sometimes even albums, but instead over a long period of time (e.g, a few months give or take). As of now, this exact thing is happening to me with R.E.M., I have streamed their songs nearly 800 times in the span of a week according to my last.fm.

I’m being bombarded with lesbian stuff like art and gifs from shows and ads online, and I’m somewhat confused because I haven’t actively pursued that specific content at all.

I think it’s maybe because one of the content creators I’m following has gotten more in touch with her bisexuality? I am noticing some cottagecore stuff as well, which I’ve seen her take interest in quite recently, and I did like some of her queer art because it was cute and had solid quotes.

Two guys broke into where I clean while I was there changing some hand towels. Heard some banging then saw two guys dressed in chav clothing come up the stairs. I didn't know what to actually do so I just said there's nothing here. One of them said they're security and said they're just checking even though they obviously weren't. They left when I got my phone out to call my supervisor. I'm lucky they didn't beat me up as I was by myself and there's no cameras in the building I clean. I stood next to the disabled toilet so I could lock myself in it in case they came back before security and my supervisor arrived lol.

Maybe someone detected that you use the Lesbians text message ringtone in GTA IV.

ha ha, how hilarious. since you mentioned a GTA game on a GTA forum, the discussion will most likely diverge to it.

what I recall having was the Sprunk background and stock tones.

I get ads for clothes and cars now.

It's likely not the most ethical thing but I use Adblock. I do turn it off on sites where the ads aren't too bad, but having 4 non skippable ads on an 8 minute YouTube tutorial is not ideal.

I stopped using adblock because it was messing with certain stuff on sites. I only use adblock when I'm using firefox. I don't use adblock on chrome.

This talk on feet makes me think, why is foot fetish so common but not say, hand fetish lol? What's the difference as such?

I used to get hentai ads over here after searching for a certain video for the Pit™, but now after seeing Mister Pink's video in the US election thread I started getting Washington Post ads over here, lol. Otherwise it's the usual gambling sites ads

Nah I meant the show specifically lol, I liked poor Courage too tbh but the show....it was pure nightmare fuel, I was creeped the hell out but strangely drawn to it too, like I was determined back then to find out what exactly was in this show that a kid would like lmao. I had a secret battle with the show; in my mind it was like, throw as much creepy stuff as you can this kid will watch through all of it. But it wasn't a show I particularly enjoyed

I mostly purged it out of my mind but today when on the YouTube rabbithole I encountered that show again, and yeah all these years later I still hate it. But I still didn't figure out what a kid would like bout it, like I get the appeal of horror shows but I'm still fascinated what anyone saw in that show, specifically as a child, and it'd be interesting just to know what they are like I thought  and perhaps make a mental note to stay the hell away from them...

Thinking about it some of the staff seem like they could have been avid watchers of that show; in particular Voodoo, Rhoda and Uncle Atric. Anyway f*ck that Eustace guy, Go Courage, I hope that mutt won in the end.

The Time Ranger

@Utopianthumbs

Yeah I felt the same about Courage, scared me as a kid, I remember the "Return the Slab" guy giving me nightmares, it's always fun to visit YouTube and look at some of the more famous clips such as "Return the Slab" or "You're not Perfect," it's full of people our age talking about how it scared them, I have to give the show credit, it certainely left it's mark, I might actually try watching a little bit again, for nostalgias sake.

Here are some clips, some good discussion in the comment sections by fellow scared 90's babies.

@The Time Ranger Thanks I hate it... As said in the comments the kind of bad animation style and the almost cheesy voice acting makes it all the more scary lmao

I was curious on how the show ended and well I'll put it in spoilers just in case

Spoiler

This video explains the ending of Courage and why it's...perfect (also the name of the last episode)

So relieved for Courage,he finally accepts himself for who he is, glad it wasn't some macabre ending lol.

incidentally my mobile suddenly rang loudly which gave me a jumpscare, think watching clips of this show has once again made me jumpy lmao

I've seen Courage The Cowardly Dog, but I lost interest after the first couple of seasons. Don't get me wrong, the art style and humour was great, I just didn't watch many cartoons.

I don't know if this is what you mean, but have you heard of solipsism? I would have those kind of thoughts growing up but never knew it was a thing until my late teens.

Oh yeah I've heard of solipsism, it's quite interesting and it once really intrigued me to the point where I used to go around jokingly calling people a figment of my imagination lol. I don't take it too seriously now though as there seems to be too many things going on in the world for it to seem like only I exist, these days it feels I'm just another irrelevant cog in the gigantic turning wheel, so to speak (hope that made sense lol)

Probably this is just my lazy ass trying to think wishfully but I always sort of felt my life turning around would require just that one spark, that one thought that consumes me and sets things into motion, that this is what interests me or that this is what I want to do. I find myself not that motivated to do anything productive in general and perhaps I'm just fooling myself into thinking I need that one bright thought that will motivate me, but I hold onto that hope anyway haha

(Interestingly this video touches upon the solipsism thing while asking the same question I asked. I didn't absorb the video properly as I'm a bit sleepy right now but it seems interesting)
