The whole past two-or-so weeks were a crumbling train.

 

1) To begin with, my mom is diagnosed with cancer. Much easier than the one she had before, but still. How did she get it? The f*cking retards back in Libya told her to stop taking some Hormone-related med, when in reality she's supposed to stop taking the one she was using, and *then* switch to another for at least 5 years.... she didn't even finish 3 on the FIRST med w/ no other med. Libyan medication everyone!

2) Said retards also made our heads spin. Cancer=Chemo, there's no argument about that. Even Tunisian docs said the same. Difference is, the 1st doc said that ma will need at least 7 shots on the span of a year and so (a Chemo shot once every ~3 weeks), along with some Immunity System-enhancing drug. How much do the Chemo cost? $12K LYD for one f*cking shot. What is this, the US? The 2nd doc, at first, said that mom only needs a Hormone drug, no Chemo. Later the f*cktard changed his mind and said the same sh*te, only this time the cost of the Chemo is different. Still expensive AF but whatever. Ma almost lost her sanity because of this sh*t (We all did really).

 

3) we all said "f*ck it" and went over to Tunisia where 99% of Libyans medicate anyway (says a lot about Libyan medication....). Tuesday we were in Tripoli, yesterday we took a plane to Tunis then a car ride to Sfax (a Tunisian city known for its advanced medication, been here when I was like 6 because surprise, sh*tty Libyan system is sh*tty). Only slept like 2.5Hrs, felt my head would explode. We had $1.5K, each of us took $500 with him/her. While still in the f*cking airport, my $500 magically fell off my pocket. Thank God for finding them. The actual travel was a breeze, until we reached Tunis and had to take a drive to Sfax. On the way we were hit by (or did we "catch up with"?) a terrible thunderstorm (in f'ing August in the heat!) and almost had an accident. Not our fault really, the two cars in front of us had a terrible crash and the pickup truck in the far front was so badly hit the whole thing spun around. We *narrowly* escaped the collision ourselves. No one's in blame AFAIK, you can't even see your car's hood never mind a vehicle in front of you, the rain was T H A T hard.

4) We reached Sfax, all broken, my dad started looking for a place to rent. Hotels were a big no, because while it's defo much better as a place to rest, you can't actually make anything there yourself (at least here) and it'll be much more expensive. Had we been here for fun it wouldn't be terrible, but since we're here for medication every cent (*ahem*, millime) counts. We found one at a 90 D.T a f*cking night, and while the place is nice none of the pillows or blankets were clean. ONE spoon, ONE. How many dishes? 0. How many cups? 2, and one is broken (other one's so small it's a joke). The A.C barely makes any difference either, you may as well sleep naked instead. We stayed the night before my dad went nuts at the owner of the place (c'mon, 90/night ain't cheap yo).

 

Today's nice tho, no complaints. Almost immediately after waking up my dad started looking for a doctor (a proper one this time), and he did - and it's so close! Just two blocks away. Went there, waited our turn. What she said was roughly the same; ma needs Chemo w/ the Immunity-upgrading drug/shot thingie. How does both count TOGETHER? Just 4K T.D (compared to the 8K LYD *Chemo-only* shot back home). The best part? Unlike assbackward Libya, Tunisia (& Morocco) have this sorta protocol where only the infected part(s) receive the Chemo, so only one location will be "burned"/targeted. The f*ckheads back home will shovel the thing in your veins and you'll basically be almost-dead for 3 days before you can even open your eyes properly. And the treatment can even start TODAY if ma wants. But first we need new (read: proper) tests to see if my mom can handle it or not. So a proper C.T Scan (What we had back home deserve a f*cking thread-worth of ranting on its own), a heart scan and some blood tests. We did that a couple hours ago, but we need to wait for the results to come out, so we wait - again, no complaints. Pretty much the only thing I can "rant" about is the Chemo-shot-every-21-days thing. So if my mom wants to start the treatment, she'll have to travel to Sfaxs once every 21 days. Not bad, just "inconvenient" that's all. Only "obstacle" would be my education, but since we have a Trimester system in the college I can halt/pass on the study for this trimester easy peasy (especially since I have a very legitimate reason to do so) if I have to, no problem. Again, just inconvenient. And it's also just for the first 3 shots, the rest we can take back home, so only 2 required travels (1st shot will be taken anytime right now).

I really hate most people that grocery shop on a weekend. Always people that take five weeks on an aisle with their kids running around and touching everything.

It's even worse in checkout lines. Sometimes in a smaller store, normally 6 people could have gone through in the time it takes for said person to pay for their stuff; meanwhile trying to hold their kids in place. Although when their kids are out of control, crying and wailing, makes it feel like a living hell standing in line.

 

I can somewhat understand, but when it's my lunch hour and time is valuable, not putting up with that sh*t.

I work in academia (well, research administration to be precise) and I have never ever had FB account, despite the popular beliefs that social networks are good in my area. I don't even use Linkedin, happily and I have never felt bad about it. If you're feeling bad about FB, it's not even a discussion, just stay away from it for whatever reasons you have. To be honest, I don't use social media at all not because I hate it, but because I don't see any reasons to. Yeah I neither use social media, maybe some day I will start an Instagram account but only as a professional tool, lol kind of a public CV, I have friends that got benefits with it. Btw I think that in Instagram (and similar social media) you pretend to have an interesting life when it's just regular, but it's all about appearance. I scroll through the comments and the only thing I see is the same empty comments again and again. Needless to say that women that post hot photos easily get a ton of likes and gain popularity. Even in a same account you can compare a post showing body vs a normal one and you will see the difference. Social media could be great, but has now turn harmful for a lot of people, specially if you don't get the amount of likes or followers as somebody else.

Last night I had a dream that I won £10,000 at a casino. The game was a cross between a slot machine and one of those Arabian derby ones where you roll balls up a gentle slope to get a mechanical camel to gallop across and win the race. The thing is, when I woke up I wasn't so much upset that I didn't actually win any money. Instead, I was more upset that even in my wildest fantasies I only win £10,000. Don't get me wrong, it's a tidy sum but it's not life changing in the long term. With absolutely no limits in the world of dreams, that's the best I can come up with? Winning £10,000? How boring am I that without restriction, my subconscious assumes my wildest fantasy is to win a modest sum at a game I've never even played before?

I usually don't remember my dreams, but one that kind of stuck with me was when I dreamed I was buying a car. It was an used 05 Civic. I mean, of all the luxury and supercars I could think of, dream me is driving in a Civic.

 

Maybe that's why I don't remember my dreams too much, they're probably as boring as that one.

Dreams about money are the worst. The realisation when I wake up and realise I'm still as broke as I was yesterday.

There has been this young homeless lady around the town where I live sleeping rough. The other Monday morning she was asleep outside the shop which is part of the building where I work. I kept an eye on her, watching her twitch as she slept throughout the early hours. I went up to the offices upstairs and got about 10 tampons to give her but I didn’t want to wake her and startle her and I have no idea what she has been through.

When the shop manager arrived the young lady had woken up and the lady manager got her a coffee. I went out to give her the tampons but she was asleep again. The next thing I knew she was gone.

 

I have not seen her about these past two weeks so I hope she has a safe place to sleep.

Sort of broke out of my shell today for once. I'm a very anxious guy and that means it seeps in to my Gaming as well. Ever since I bought Overwatch, I've basically never touched the Ranked mode or talked in voice chat. Even though I've put hundreds of hours in. I've weirdly always been scared of being judged and having performance anxiety, even though it's just a Game. I finished all my Placement matches today and it was pretty exhilarating albeit very stressful. Honestly it was just nice that for once (even if it was just a Video Game) I didn't let my Anxiety get the best of me. 

 

I should start taking this approach more in real life as well. The first hurdle is always the hardest, and then you get more used to it. The anxiety never goes away, but I can feel my confidence building. It's just getting over that first hurdle is always tough.
