For the record, Trump hasn't actually done anything to "stop" illegal immigration, although he's certainly made the whole process of legal immigration more dehumanizing and shameful and racist... his changes in border policy are not addressing criminals but rather overwhelmingly targeted at South American asylum seekers and their families. It's pretty ugly...

 

You're right that Trump is trying to impose stronger work requirements for welfare recipients, but this idea has been around for decades and we've actually tried it before. It doesn't usually result in people getting back to work, it usually results in more children and the elderly going hungry and losing access to basic medical care. I hate to break it to you, but the reasons why people are on welfare goes far beyond whether or not they can physically work a job.
