Rick & Morty don't even need time travel, they could just visit a dimension with different time advancements than their own. It also removes a lot of the messiness created by time travel. If I remember correctly, Rick visited a dimension in the pilot where time moved differently or at a different rate so he was gone for much, much longer than we experienced on-screen.

I think time travel would only be possible when going into the future, not the past. What's done is done. Unless multiple dimensions are real and we'll find a dimension that's not as far in time as ours.

Either way, I doubt humans ever should and will crack codes such as time travel, dimensions and the true nature of the universe. We're way too stupid for that. I rather see some nice aliens handle it than humanity. We don't deserve it.

I would have assumed the opposite - we can't travel into what hasn't happened. The past has happened, so surely it would be more plausible to visit that timeline that go somewhere that relies on current events? I'm suspending my belief greatly here because it's purely hypothetical, but I would have thought visiting the past holds more water than visiting the future.

I was thinking more that time always flows foward, as a general rule of the universe. It's a one way street. Wouldn't traveling back contradict with the time travelers existence?

Einstein once said that each person can experience time differently depending on what you're doing. Not his exact words but it was something around that principle. What if there's some kind of glitch in the universe where time flows faster or we once create an artifical portal that speeds up time without affecting aging of the time traveler? Cryosleep perhaps? Maybe a mix of both, put a preserved body into a portal to ensure both the fast, if not instant passing of time and no aging of the body.

I just can't think of anything that could put us back in time, when everything always moves foward. But yeah, it's all beyond our understanding.

I'm thinking too literal maybe.

I mean... technically we are traveling through time, just very slowly at a constant rate... which even then is independent and isn't constant because everybody perceives time differently depending on activity and location...

I need a glass of water.

Time only exists because we invented clocks. If they didn't exist we wouldn't give a fu*k.

That's some clever sh*t right there, I should write that down

Here some quotes about time:

"Time is on my side" - Mick Jagger

If only we could travel back in time and give electricity and toothbrushes. Just think how advanced we would have been by now if we had what we have now back then. Sigh.

It could also end with disastrous results.

Butterfly effect seems overrated.

What could go wrong if we gave people toothbrushes and toothpaste?

It would change the face of dental hygiene as we know it.

It sounds like a joke, but it would have disastrous results.

Omg,I can picture it now...going back in time just to give a caveman a toothbrush and some toothpaste. That would have disastrous results.

Yeah, you joke, but what really happens? Instead of growing as a stigma through disparaged living conditions, dental hygiene soars through awareness. By the 14th century, dental care is better than we've ever had it. Nationalised and affordable for all walks of life, more of a focus is shifted on that perfect smile. Those with even slightly uneven teeth are mocked and looked down upon much like how racism tore apart society. Effigies are burned. Threats are made. Those very same dental practices that aided millions are torched for driving a wedge between those with even slightly different teeth. Dentistry becomes a niche, forced to operate underground with high risk. Those who were lucky escaped to private practices operating from unmarked vans, constantly on the move providing oral care to those with money and influence. People leave the underground dentists with gum disease and infections, forcing people to wear hoods and masks covering their mouths. Teeth and smiles are painted on in a pursuit of vanity. Our society grows more distant, through a combination of genetics and affluence.

All because one foolish traveler left a half used tube of Aquafresh in the bushes...

It could though, the better dental hygiene could lead to better teeth, which might change the culture to the point where the population lived longer, and therefore spent more time as an aged person in artistic pursuits, philosophy, education.... we might have had faster access to things, the culture advancing at an insanely faster speed, cars being invented in 1107CE and Martian colonization around the 1500s.

What a crazy world...

An actor friend of mine has a great story about that.

It was an open audition and someone auditioning used "let's call the whole thing off" for the song portion of the audition. He sung it just like it was written. "You say potato, I say potato. You say tomatto, I say tomatto".

Leftist Bastard

when people talk about Rick and Morty being intelligent I honest to god can't differentiate the irony from what is serious anymore. It is a good show, a funny show, a good funny show that sometimes has something interesting to say - but I don't know about genuinely intelligent. It's a good piece of pop culture. That's all I can really say about it.

make total destroy

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Rick’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they’re not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick’s existential catchphrase “Wubba Lubba Dub Dub,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon’s genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them.

And yes, by the way, i DO have a Rick & Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid

I find Rick and Morty brilliant, even if I was a little disappointed with season 3.

Also, the sci-fi references are awesome (Cronenberg, Zardoz, Total Recall and so on)
