epoxi
The RAGE engine is closed source and proprietary to Rockstar Games. The widely accepted engine to learn how to design games on is Unity. https://unity3d.com/They do a free 'Personal' edition and there are thousands of tutorials available if you search on Youtube. I would start with a basic programming language however to get used to how computers work, like C++ or Java. Lakitu
You should go for Unity or Unreal 4. RAGE is not available to the public.

The most popular of them is Unity, which is being used for all kinds of games nowadays. You could look into that. https://unity3d.com/learn Another option is the Unreal engine, which was recently made freely available. https://www.unrealengine.com/what-is-unreal-engine-4 As for getting someone to 'explain to you in detail the working of game engines', this is something you would usually pay a college a great deal of money for. This is extremely complex software that takes years to master. If you're dead set on learning on your own, you've got a long path ahead of you, and a forum post is not going to cut it.
