Your 2nd Favorite Game Series

What is your favorite game or game series you play when not in a mood for GTA?

 

What is the motivation behind playing that game or game series?

 

If you don't play any other games than GTA, please give an elaborate explanation why other genre's don't interest you.

 

 

I go first:

 

I play NHL as my second favorite game series, because hockey is a big thing in Finland, and I like role-playing as a gm or a player.

Warriors beat 'em up games, like Dynasty Warriors.

 

Full of variety and character upgrading. You get around 80 different characters to play as so there's a ton of replay value.

I usually play Rockstar titles mostly but Fallout would be my second favourite game series while I don't dig any other Bethesda games except Wolfenstein.

Problem is, it seems like I'm not giving my non-Grand Theft Auto games a chance as I have a massive addiction to GTA.

Right now Im playing AC: Black Flag and so far its been very enjoyable. Dont really care about this templar-assassin plot since its my first AC game but I love the gameplay and im considering about buying the Rogue once I finish Black Flag. Im pretty much an open world guy with some good RTS and Arma 3 in the mix.

Shoot em ups and fighting games. Both are really fun to get good at and I find it amazing how a genre such as a shoot em up can have so much depth to it sometimes.

With nearly 700 hours in Euro Truck Sim 2, I still play it at least weekly, since I listen to radio shows I would otherwise miss while cruising the back roads of Europe.

 

Elsewhere, I play anything that appeals, just clocked Bioshock Infinite and the DLC again to close the story, now the original System Shock team has reformed and Otherside has confirmed SHODAN is returning.

 

Been waiting 20 years to see the story of Rebecca Simmonds.... (You can tell where my all time greatest storyline is hiding). I wouldn't be surprised if she was the protagonist you play, once that monster is out of her head! (Spoilers)

- RPG games like Gothic 2, Arx Fatalis, Baldur's Gate, Wizardry 8, Morrowind, etc...

and

- Strategy/tactical games like Commandos 2, Silent Storm, Hidden & Dangerous 2, Ghost Recon, etc...

 

The reason being: I love old school games for their amazing atmosphere, lengthy campaign, more complex and challenging missions, open ended environment/level design, plus lots of freedom and choices.

35 votes and 15 posts so far. It seems that people who play GTA play other open world games as well. And no-one has commented on being gta only guy. Puzzle games were less popular than I thought. Shooting and Driving come next, so it seems google search optimizing is correct: because you bought gta, you want more gta!

RPG's have been tickling my fancy lately with the endless hours of content and fantastic maps. Most notably Fallout and The Witcher.

Definitely racing/driving simulators. The earliest memory I have was one of the Test Drive games on PC back in the early 90s. Outside of GTA that's my next love.

Well my 2nd favourite series would have to be platformers.

 

As my user name suggests I grew up on Sonic the Hedgehog games back on every Sega system and have been a loyal fan but it feels an age since I

played a Sonic game since the recent ones have all been Nintendo systems but equally I'm a racing games fan as well and I have hopes that when Gran

Turismo Sport is finally released it continues the enjoyment I've had from all the previous installments.

My second favorite series has to be The Witcher series. Hands down. There upcoming expansions look amazing and actually has updated and improved graphics..............from an already great looking game. It gets better???????? Holy crap.

Probably pathetic, but Pokemon, lol. That's right - my favorite game series is a crime-based one, but then it cycles all the way around to a technically-kiddy one for my second favorite. A third would probably be Zelda.

 

Those top two together probably take up a major chunk of my gaming time.

Skyrim would be my favorite individual title. Favorite series besides GTA would be God of War, Uncharted, or Final Fantasy.
