On a straight line in no-contact race, why is my t20 slower?

Hello Community,

i crawled the internet for answers but i just can't find anything. So that's why i registered here and i hope someone of you can help me out.

Yesterday i experienced the following in a NO CONTACT (so no Catchup and no Slipstream) Race for Supercars:

5 Players, 4x T20 and one Zentorno with maximum Tuning i guess (mine T20 is fully upgraded aswell except i don't use armor) start on a clear highway .

I am position 1 and start (like the other 4 guys) with Turbo Boost Start.

We drive only forward max speed without any steering wheel movement.

Why the F*ck do these 4 guys just overtake me like nothing and race away so i can not catch up and stay behind for the whole race? How can this be, when there is no slipstream or catchup, we all have identically cars (zentorno normaly should be behind a t20) and race max speed? How comes their max speed seems to be way higher than mine?

There were no LAG involved in this game. Also no one was cheating.

Please help me out ! Maybe someone of you guys have the answer.

The Zentorno is faster than the T20 in a straight line. Anyway, back to the issue. The only thing I can think of is uneven parts of road that give a small boost. Similar to curb boosting. Your opponents may have possibly known the sweet spots of that particular race and got the advantage.

ok didn't know that with zentorno. but doesnt't explain the other t20. there were no curbs to drive on. really just a straight highway line. all driving on the street, not on the side.

The other thing it could be is your R2/XBOX equivalent button. Might not have full contact, which is why you are getting less acceleration. However if you are on PC, I have no idea I'm afraid :(

I thought about that (cuz i read about this before) and so i switched from pressing RT on my xbox360 controller to pressing the W key on my keyboard. But no difference.

Hmm, is this console dependant or something?

The T20 has less mass, higher drive force and a higher top speed than the Zentorno.

I also thought t20 was fastest car always but i am not sure so i would let his statement stay ;-)

after checking out some more no-contact races while testing out the curb boosting i guess this is the reason i got overtaken.

just a tiny little curb here and there is enough to gain more speed than the opponent with the same car.

i guess the other t20 racers knew the track good and drove over curbs i didn't see on that straight highway line

Maybe I stand corrected? will do another test with both of them :p

A quick way to see if you are successfully curb boosting is by going into first person and checking for small but very fast jumps on the speedometer :p

I've highlighted the five vehicles generally considered as the most competitive across the range of races and tracks available.
