Milesinho
From what I understand, when you call it in it spawns at a helipad where a helicopter will most likely spawn anyway, so is there any point at all in buying any unarmed helicopter? I also heard you can't even pick a colour so it's not like it's even really yours at all.

In the case of an unarmed helicopter it's really just about being guaranteed that your preferred model spawns there by using Pegasus. That's it. If you literally never care what helicopter you get then yes, just use the free spawns.
Hunter
No, don't get an unarmed one. Save for a Buzzard. Even then, it's mostly for transportation really, unless you're ready to spend a long time practicing. DedetOS1 and ten-a-penny

I own a buzzard armed of course excellent for getting round the map, weapons come in handy too but beware the homolauncher
AUScowboy
Buzzard so you can free spawn it during vip, or a Savage if you're feeling lucky lol. The lack of armor is worth the lack of cool down for rockets! Question, does the Valkyrie have any guns you can fir without a co pilot?
Hunter
Question, does the Valkyrie have any guns you can fir without a co pilot? No; none at all. I guess you can stop the helicopter and jump in the side? But you're a complete sitting duck then. Nothing you can fly with anyway.

Sky_Light12
perhaps some unarmed variants are fast or because having more passenger . but for luxurious helicopter , you'll get " bling of war " No, don't get an unarmed one. Save for a Buzzard. Even then, it's mostly for transportation really, unless you're ready to spend a long time practicing. off topic : finally , about time to return as hunter right activitist Edited May 4, 2016 by Sky_Light12 Hunter

Zoolock
Not an unarmed one its just a waste of $$$ because by the time you can afford one & your levels high enough that they spawn in free roam anyway plus you can always call Merryweather for a pickup & kill the pilot if you ever need one. They are also pretty useless in missions except for transportation. The Buzzard however is a must buy. She's a game changer in missions & in free roam plus if you have one & go VIP you have instant on the spot spawn access to it for free.
MCMXCII
Use your money to buy a Hunter... oh wait... As others have said, spend your money on a Buzzard. Hunter
jollythecat
I have all the attack choppers and pretty much only use the Buzzard. I also have the Gold heli which is awesome, I love it, but the no passive in it is pretty stupid imo. That's why I also have a Frogger so I can use passive when I'm in public. (I'm always passive in public) The Frogger is easy my favorite chopper, it is worth having for sure. It handles really well and is pretty fast too. So my advice is if you gonna buy a non armed chopper, go for the Frogger.
elfoam
Get the buzzard, it's a good chopper. The launcher can't lock on at a decent altitude so either fly high or along the aqua ducts.
LogScottWood
Absolutely no point at all. If it doesn't have guns, don't bother huns. Hope this helps, Log
FlacidJack
You can also call Lester to get an unarmed helicopter if a free one isn't available like in missions.not during his missions though since he turns his phone off. So you can still have a bird in missions even if you don't own one. Or better yet, call Merryweather, they'll send a heli right to you then you can send the pilot home and fly it yourself. SoDank_ItPainsMe
If you want to carry passengers and you like a specific heli that doesn't free spawn where you'd normally want to get it then yes, if you don't want to carry passengers buy a Hydra because it is a VTOL and spawns at helipads. .Vooodu.
For me i purchased all air crafts,,, Just to have them.. And for any films i may make. I personally enjoy the frogger more then the buzzard when it comes to casual flying and sight seeing.
AlienTwo
One big difference is that if you take a free spawn, fly out somewhere, travel a block or so away it'll despawn, leaving you stranded where the pegasus will stay put for a longer amount of time. Yea but the free spawn will stick around forever if you don't go too far. Pegasus recalls theirs if you don't use it (within 5 mins I think). Lesters helis last 24 or 48 minutes (I forget) then the cops come after you, Merryweathers disappears like a free spawn one. They all have advantages & disadvantages whether you own or don't own them. Sometimes it's better to use a free spawning Buzzard, other times it's better to call your own. FFDP999
I guess it's worth it, but then again I also bought the titan and the dump. I like the Swift, as it's sort of like something a VIP or president of a company would fly in. I guess it really comes down to what do you need a helicopter for. rlk232
It's the ideal way to travel in style. I've dropped about $30m between my two characters just on helis, and there's no gold vehicles involved in that either. They're probably my favorite aspect of this game. Buzzard/Savage are useful for missions. The Maverick allows you to land fastest since it takes more abuse. The Swift looks good. The Frogger is the fastest and most agile. You get the point. Jammsbro
I got a Buzzard for practical purposes but I eventually bought a frogger just for the fun of flying. They are way better to pilot, way more stable and smooth and way more fun.
AlienTwo
I guess also the Swift NEVER spawns and it's the most beautiful helicopter in the game, so there's at least a second reason. kringled
If you rely purely on spawns, there will come that time when you need a smaller or agile heli, and all that spawns are annihilators and cargobobs. The bob is fun but it's not fast or agile, and won't fit in places you can take other helis. But add everyone has said, the Buzzard is by far the most versatile and should usually be the priority if you don't already own one. I do think that Lester can spawn a Swift, but you don't have any control over what you get from him. AlienTwo
DarkSavageDeathlyCloud
I got the original swift...still like it...because its fast. Though my hydra replaced it kinda...you know.. if you are with 2 people there is nothing that can get both of you away in a hurry as fast as the swift. The frogger has the advantage you cant lose the tail without just destroying the heli completely...but yea...dont bother buying a maverick or supervolito....they are completely useless if you ask me AlienTwo
*Lola
Save for a Buzzard. Even then, it's mostly for transportation really, unless you're ready to spend a long time practicing. I've made 75-100 mil using my Buzzard. It's a great investment. A regular heli would be a waste of my money. Call Merryweather for a regular heli if there isn't one at the heli pad. It's only $1000. Shoot the pilot and take it. Although, it's fun having him take you to a destination and repelling from it. Oh I was thinking more from a free mode/fighting perspective, but you're right - the Buzzard is definitely a brilliant tool for missions, and really handy for VIP work too.
