I have played the old GTA1 and 3 in the past and played the story mode about half way through, so I know the basic game-play principles. I just need a little help with starting online. I'm sure I am not the first asking this but maybe I am missing the obvious. After logging in online, making a character, racing Lamar in the tutorial I joined the big angry world at level 3, armed with a handgun and a new T-shirt. After I found a nice car to bring to Los Santos customs I was bombed by a jet fighter. After re-spawning I got shot by a level 151 sniper and then again, and again. I finally made it to customs with a car, and fitted a tracker before getting bombed again by mr. jetfighter. So what's exactly the point here? just massacre any other player? Is the solution buy thousand shark cards and buy a frigate with anti-aircraft guns? ...or is there a way for beginners to actually enjoy the online game? Much appreciated! kraftwerkd Posted May 10, 2016 Share Posted May 10, 2016 (edited) Welcome to GTAO. Press 'M' (I think? It's been a while) to bring up the interaction menu, find Passive Mode. Find some friends, forum buddies, reddit pals and start a private or invite-only lobby. Do some contact missions, get up to level 12 or 14 or whatever, do some Heists, run some VIP work, then you're set. I guess. When your finished with a heist and the rest of the team is cool, stay together and run into the planning room to do the next one (if your in someones apartment) by doing so you will rack up money and rp faster cause you will skip a couple of loading screens and wont have to wait on finding new players. Could just as easily say: This is Freeroam, not "I suck at Deathmatch so I use my military vehicles against new players." The whole "This isn't meant to be a friendly game" is just a weak excuse from all the kids who prevent freeroam from being anywhere near as awesome as it could be.
