PvP is what keeps me playing the game. Now with the VIP update I have a great time hunting down organizations until they all leave. I stopped dong missions/heists consistently a long time ago (couldn't stand the grind any longer), for 5 bucks you can buy a modded account with billions, why spend my precious time grinding for almost nothing? Now I have 3 accounts that I use regularly and I switch frequently to be able to benefit from constant VIP BST and to stay away from Bad Sport (oh...and my new account came with an invisible outfit, that really made people angry yesterday LOL).

My No.1 game has become my No.2 game at the moment because of the bullsh*t marketing over lowriders. It sent me over the edge - I realised I was playing GTA online for the sake of it. I've played various other games since Christmas, but Fallout 4 has been remarkable. It draws you in until you're practically living in the Commonwealth. Normally I don't install other games because I know that addiction can happen, but Fallout 4 is not to be missed and I'm really glad for the lull in GTA online at the moment.

GTA online is still my favourite game, it's just been played to death.

I'll be dipping in and out until GTA6/GTAO2 (or whatever R* throws at us next). For me personally, the current version peaked with Heists and has been on a slow downward trajectory since. Don't get me wrong, GTAO has given me countless hours of pleasure along with many great memories over the last two and a half years - I've more than had my monies worth. However, even though it still provides the odd surprise, the golden-era of Los Santos has passed (for me it has, at least) and I now feel ready to embark on a new (preferably non-adversay centric) GTA adventure....

I suspect I'll play gta online primarily till red dead online is released...

gta:online is still the pinnacle of interactive entertainment imo and it will take a lot to change my opinion.

Since almost everyone that's posted here is clearly dissatisfied with all the Pvp, why the hell are they still going with it?

Here's some rare footage of Rockstar asking fans what they want and then remembering that they don't care about what we want.

Voted 'I hardly play anymore.' Haven't loaded it up in over a week.

Currently GTA:O is STALE. 2016 has been a mish-mash of uninspiring uninteresting content. I don't care for adversary modes nor the majority of lowriders. Most of my friends who we played every night have given up on GTA:O as well. They want to run missions which there has been nothing new on that front for 2 years. We all have plenty of money and nothing to spend it on. Only one guy is still playing and he's heisting to help some low levels get money.

The only people still going overall are the hardcore PVP types. My group isn't PVP, we're more cooperative. R* has so far this year been Grand Theft Adversary and driving the online experience away from grinding and establishing yourself as a Los Santos criminal to more of a lowbrow PVP sandbox with nothing that advances the franchise.

It's a shame. If it continues like this GTA:O is going to keep hemorrhaging players. You'd think with all the microtransaction profits, they'd take better care of the online side of the franchise. This is why people are pissed about the microtransactions, R* keeps making bank on them, but funneling a fraction of that money back into development of more things seems to not be happening. Thirty to sixty million dollars every three months ought to pay for something more than Benny's cars and adversary modes. The current adversary modes could be easily made in the creator by a 7th grader. Not DLC worthy of a company like R*. The Housers are going to be in for a shock if this becomes entrenched as the new normal. When GTA VI finally comes out, sales drop due to their neglect and poor choices overseeing the franchise. There seems to be no interest in drawing people into GTA:O for anything else than high priced content and advancement of microtransactions.

This may be representative of the scuttlebutt out there that the Housers don't care much for online outside of the profits as has been asserted.

Since almost everyone that's posted here is clearly dissatisfied with all the Pvp, why the hell are they still going with it?

That's a great question. The structure of the GTA:O as it stands will allow for microtransactions to keep rolling in for the short to medium term. So other than a few malcontents, there is no problem (from R*'s point of view). Profits are great, they are great. The problem becomes when the microtransaction profits start to drop and they will. Some bean counter will notice a steady decline in microtransaction profits before a question is asked 'why.' By then, it'll have been a year, a year and a half perhaps of this neglect of the franchise. Large amounts of the player base will have left with bad tastes in their mouths. R* has all this microtransaction money but was so isolated to what was really going on they couldn't see, or simply didn't care that large amounts of the player base left in disgust.

This is the problem with organizations that are secretive and standoffish like R*. Organizations have to be listening to your audience. If there is a problem, or the audience feels there is a problem - they'll let you know. Many organizations don't want open dialogue with their audience, but they LISTEN. Or they listen to focus groups. It keeps them from going off the rails. Since R* isn't telling us anything, we don't know what if anything they are doing. GTA:O is losing marketshare and eventually, the microtransactions profits are going to head south. I've written before from a public relations standpoint that R* would benefit greatly from increased sense of openness. As it stands now, the perception is R* is throwing crumbs at the GTA:O playerbase and the crumbs are crap (Bennys/adversary modes). I don't know what they'll do, but the dissatisfaction is growing. People are saying it on the newswire and in some cases getting their comments deleted for it.

GTA:O was a massive success because it allowed a tying together of various playstyles. There was something for everyone. By neglecting the mission, heist and cooperative type of player R* is tossing perhaps 50% or more of it's playerbase away for GTA:O. You'd think a company would hate to lose that much marketshare.

To answer your question, we don't know. Once the microtransactions slow down, GTA:O will go into a death spiral of DLC support. Do they realize that GTA:O's magic (ala profit) can be kept going as long as you continue to give something for everyone in terms of playable content, or do you say 'we're done' and ride off into the sunset while letting the back door cashcards keep coming in until they die off. I know the statistical data they keep on player usage will show massive spikes in playing after DLC's like Heists and Executives. Why let die, unless you've done all you wanted.

It's a complex situation and with R* being mum, we just don't know. Smart money would require someone with a vision in there keeping good DLC's rolling every 2 - 3 months. Ten million dollars a month in shark card profits ought to fund a good team to keep the content coming.

Who knows what they'll do. Either they get a visionary in there who gets why GTA:O worked and take steps to create franchise advancing content or this becomes the new normal and we're back to GTA IV multiplayer with the majority of players left being PVP warriors or modders while everyone who isn't PVP moved on. Take your pick.

Last good week for me playing GTO for a while. When's uncharted 4 coming out? The 10th or something? Im happy because there's finally new games out and I can play new stuff instead. And I'm looking forward to other games coming out as well.

And summer is almost here...I really don't want to be a loser playing gta on a nice day if I can be with my friends.

Rarely play now. There are better, more interesting and challenging games out there. GTA O was mostly fun whilst it lasted but not having anything to work towards anymore means I don't really have much of a reason to play outside of crew stuff.

When I cannot get online anymore

Doesn't this happen already?

Just played a good 3 hours in total last month, bored to death with it. Just roaming around this forum, why? Just cause.

Its an old outdated game at this point, with vehicle damage models/driving physics that were already outdated when the game was first released in 2013.

I voted but I would say I am playing less video games in general, but when I do play Gta online I can be on anywhere for 5 mins to 5 hours; it depends on if crew or friends are on versus if I am the only one playing Gta5 which is rare but I used to have over 300 of my friends playing Gtav 24/7; now on a peak maybe 50-100 are on Gtav.

The numbers have gone down, this game is old (2 years = ancient for internet culture) and the last few DLCS have been hit and miss with the best being behind a pay wall (yachts/VIP). With all that in mind GTA online is still as popular as it is but let's be frank this is a very well made game and the nostalgic factor of the GTA series will keep bringing us back and will keep bringing us back until Rockstar stops supporting GTAonline and the servers are shut down. It's a fun game, I hope Rockstar can support it for many years to come.

I will always continue to play GTA:O until a new version comes out. But I will definitely take a break when Uncharted 4 comes out, I played the multiplayer beta and it was extremely fun.

another terrible poll. The question is how long will you play and not one poll option is in direct correlation to the question.

It's a good thing you pointed it out for us. My day feels better already. Everyone thank the poll police. LOL

For real. He spends so much time pretending to be a mod that you'd think he never goes outside.

OT: Another thing that would bring me back to GTAO consistently would be a Tuner DLC. Something like a F&F: Tokyo Drift themed DLC.

I stopped already, because gta online in ps3 is an horrible hell hole full of glitch kids and squakers.

I will play the online again when I get ps4 finally.

Dont know how much I will play. Probably just randomly, since Im not a big fan of this online gaming thing.

..as much I hate this gta online mess, still Im excited to try the new clothes and cars etc from dlc's and the better character creator.

I voted for the first option as GTA is the only game I play, that being said though I havent played online in around a month or so since my playstation plus membership expired and I see no reason to renew it with the rather stale content being put out by rockstar.

GTA is the main game I play at the moment, but I've been playing a bit less, and may cut back more in future. I mostly play 1-2 games at a time, for a fair while; it's been a nice blend of PvE and PvP activities for me but matchmaking makes PvP jobs more tedious than they should; cheaters with mod menus (PC) make PvP in free-roam more frustrating than it should be, and I prefer more structure anyways. I've just about exhausted the things I wanted to do with the PvE content; although I still play it with friends, and there's still different ways to approach the same missions/heists. Not sure what I'll switch over to or when; I don't expect many friends from this game to move to something else with me, and I don't know if there's much out there that will have the legs that this had for me.

As of now, the only true reason i keep playing is not for the recent rather disappointing batch of DLCs (If you read any of my recent posts, you definitely know about that) but for my crew/friends and all the activites we play. That, in my opinion, is where GTA Online truly succeds. So, is it still my favourite game? Definitely, nothing comes close. Wouldn't mind a proper DLC though.

Unfortunately I hardly ever play GTA V/Online these days.

Normally when I stop playing a game, its because...

  1. I over played it
  2. Got bored of it
  3. Taking a break from it
  4. Lacking in decent content recently
  5. A lot of game breaking glitches
  6. Lazy developers

and more. But lately the content that had been added to the game has been disappointing . R* needs to turn things around...

I am not sure, but as it is now, I rarely play anymore, I am down to about an hour a week, sometimes I might play for longer on a Saturday night, but so far, all this "free" DLC isnt adding anything that I want to play, and after two and half years, running around in free mode killing anything that moves just bores me to death.
