What Will Get You To Play Jobs More?

  1. 1. What will get you into doing more jobs (both isn't an option)

    • Higher RP and Cash payouts but same broken match-making
    • Same RP and Cash payouts but MUCH better matching-making (full lobbies, less lag, etc)

Short of cheating (which grinding absolutely isn't), how can there be a "wrong way" to play a video game?

Just because it's not your way, that doesn't mean it's a "wrong" way.

it is the "wrong way", in my honest opinion.

It of course, isn't the objectively "wrong way", but it is the "wrong way" as the developer and I think.

In this case I am reffering to grinding(X).

Well the developer evidently doesn't feel that strongly about it, since we're allowed to do it. Anything we're allowed to do cannot possibly be a "wrong way".

Next time I take a dump, should I consult you about that too? Do I need to aim a little to the left, or am I doing it the right way?

Grinding (and what others meant) is doing one contact mission and doing others as they appear on the selection screen after completing a mission for an hour or 2.

Now to me, that's just playing contact missions for an hour or two, not grinding

What mission do you keep getting in anyway? In LG, I get into a large variety of different missions. No one ever plays the exact same missions over and over again. That was before the payout system change, dude.

I am playing the game since it relased back in the days on PS3.

Before the Payout system changed(that was before NG released), one could usualy find a variety of missions FOR A TIME, UNTIL the whole Rooftop Rumble hype erupted, after all YouTubers and stuff advertising Rooftop Rumble, literally and i mean this quite literally, all I could find through the quick job option was "Rooftop Rumble", RR and ONLY RR.

And that was before the "On Call" feature being added...meaning I had to leave the lobby, HOPE TO GOD that it wouldn't be Rooftop Rumble and sadly see that it was yet again.

After Rockstar rebalanced the Payouts, I could find a host and a variety of missions, thankfully so.

As I was reffering to grinding(X), the developer rebalanced the payouts in a way so people would NOT play the same mission over and over again(grinding).

This debate right now is useless. I dont think nobody would play a game and keep playing if there is no fun at some point. Whatever your definition of the word ''grinding'' is the players are obviously playing and having fun or no one would still be playing or discussing here. I consider doing multiples contact mission grinding, because you are doing basically the same thing in most mission, but I still have fun doing it

Well it still let's us do that. So I'm inclined to believe it's not a "wrong" way to play the game.

No one ever said anything about doing the same missions over and over. Grinding (and what others meant) is doing one contact mission and doing others as they appear on the selection screen after completing a mission for an hour or 2.

No one literally said do Pac Standard and Noobtop Fumble all day.

I did say something about that, and that I interpret that as grinding.

In my very first post in this particular discussion:

[...] were grinding the SAME MISSION ALL THE DAMN TIME....Rooftop Rumble...EVEN AFTER R* NERFED IT...

You are essentially playing contact missions either for the hell of it or to get something - it is grinding. But unlike some people, I get why you would think of it that way and I'm not going to attack you.

Nutduster

Neither problematic matchmaking nor payouts are my problem. It's that I tend to like cooperative jobs (heists/missions) the best, but as they are fairly scripted and give you a similar experience each time, I feel like I've seen it all and done it all, too many times to count. A new heist and a big chunk of new contact missions would be amazing.

I guess as I'm above the $$$ needed for pretty much anything I am doing it for the hell of it, I just enjoy playing contact missions sometimes, especially with some friends or crew members.

Better matchmaking, it's a multiplayer game so that only makes sense.

A lot of people said they play contact missions alone, why not just play story mode?

Grinding is just part of the reality of GTA Online. Sure, you can provide variety into how specifically you go about earning your cash. But however you slice it, you do have to grind to get what you want legitimately.

Maybe the term "grind" is negative. It implies it's not fun or repetitive. I've had plenty fun ranking up and earning money through various jobs - races, survivals, heists, missions, DMs etc. Its still a grind though. Maybe it can be called "work" instead. But you have to "work" for your money in GTA or you simply can't afford to enjoy everything the game has to offer. If I don't grind work, my broke ass is gonna be at a disadvantage.

Even if all you do if muck about in free roam, bullets cost money. Armor costs money. Some rims cost more than actual vehicles. This is the whole, shark cards vs modded accounts vs "play legit" debate. If you're gonna play legit you gotta grind "work" for cash.

Maybe this is why they're called "Jobs" in the first place.

GTA Online is too reliant on expensive items for obvious reasons (S.C.) and we know I'm not talking about social club. The least they could do is throw us a bone (double RP & Cash). It helps when we get it, but when they take it away it's not unreasonable to assume players will lose interest. Hence the poll and the question.

I overall agree, but as you said there is significant difference between "grinding" and "working".

One can play the game, have fun with a VARIETY of Missions, Free Mode Events, VIP Missions, Adversary Modes and Deathmatches WHILE earning their money.

Or one can play the game, play the same mission all over again and again and again TO earn money.

The second one is(luckily) not supported in GTA Online anymore.

The point of the work vs grind terminology is to underline the frivolity of this debate. These are just semantics. You say grind, I say work. But at the end of the day, the reality is the same.

How you personally spend your time grinding and what jobs you choose to earn money and RP isn't the issue. Its the fact that we continuously have to keep this hustle up to enjoy the fruits of the game. Nothing is inherently wrong with that. But that's how it is.

Well, the ultimate experience is very different, the OUTCOME basicly.

For me, playing a mission, doing an Adversary Mode, doing Heists or playing Free Mode Events(in a full lobby) are the "fruits of the game", sure I wil earn money, ammo etc. along with it, but the point is I don't play FOR said ammo, I play for FUN in the activities.

In the end I get payed MONEY AND FUN, and they get payed...money(maybe more money).

XenoXx, we play the same game, why is this hard. We all play GTA to have fun. Whether we actually have fun or not is up to the individual, but the pursuit is there.

Playing jobs provides us with money. It doesn't matter what we spend that money on. But we do need money to enjoy the fictional world of Los Santos. Without money we are at a disadvantage. Jobs, whatever specific ones you choose, are more of a necessity than an option.

Higher payouts could remove the priority on "what" gamemode or job we play. If all of the payouts were standardized and/OR raised to such a degree that there's no financial penalty for picking something else, we would solve the diversity problem over night.

Well, it looks like we have varying perceptions of the term 'grinding'. Anyway, regardless of the definition of the term 'grinding', I see no issue with playing a variety of missions or heists or the same exact mission for an hour or more. If you're doing it to make money, then sure, go ahead; it doesn't affect me at all. I don't know why one would consider that to be morally wrong.

It's just a video game. Play it how you want, as long as you're not cheating and ruining it for others.

I play missions and heists over and over again along with other game modes (rarely have matchmaking problems).

If I'm in free mode I do VIP work over and over again.

All of this earns me cash and none of it is a grind to me. It's playing the game.

Was it really 20, or are you only exaggerating to be sarcastic? But yeah, they should definitely bring them back. It shouldn't have taken them almost two years to fix them, so there's no excuse whatsoever as to why they're still not back. I guess they just got lazy and their focus drifted away from them. Not only that, but they should be adding more missions as well.

Chemical Extraction (removed twice!), Pick-up Sticks, American Exports, Coveted etc. Too bad I didn't get to complete Pick-up Sticks; that was the only mission I didn't finish.

Lol, yeah, I got a little carried away. Realistically I think it was about 10-12 in total that were removed, including the ones that show up on the map but not the menu. They were alright to do especially with friends, it's a shame that they never put them back on the list.

I would take better match-making over useless RP and more money 10/10.

But realistically, competitive players would be the best choice for me. I hate when there's idle players trying to get easy money.

I voted better payout/RP. Matchmaking is fine in my opinion. It's a-hole players that leave mid-mission who are the problem. Not even the best matchmaking system can prevent or fix that...

Anyway, the way the poll was worded seemed to me that the OP is leaning towards better matchmaking... lol

I play jobs for fun so I'm more bothered about matchmaking, I play vip work/missions for money and missions aren't too bad in terms of matchmaking.

^ this.

If Matchmaking actually did what it was intended, then the money/RP part would likely become secondary.

When I do jobs I do them with friends. Matchmaking is not the issue, the money is. The money always is.
