How about a year long itinerary DLC Magazine?

This is how it would work

Annually, we would have a small magazine or pamphlet sized DLC itinerary. Explaining what to expect in the through out the year (Digitally or in Print within all video game related Magazines).

Here's the catch

Ever DLC,Adversary mode, new game mode, etc to come is displayed and explained. However there aren't any dates to their realise. Only "coming soon" will be written where the date will be. The only way to know when the specific DLC will be launched is to visit the Newswire as a (Top story; new featured content) will be shown.

For example: You open page two of the Magazine and you see an upcoming Pfister heavily based on the 918 or Carrera GT, without the knowledge when exactly the DLC will be launched.

Thoughts?

Name has to be "Adversary Monthly"

I think you're forgetting that R* goes by the seat of their pants, there's no long-term plan for the next 1-2 years unless you count "more adversary modes".

I would be down for that. Screw the dates, the content is enough to keep me hyped. Shame R* probably won't do that.

But if it would happen I would be happy, cause R* secretive attitude is starting to get irritating. Open your secrets, Rockies, c'mon.

Guessing a DLC these days is hardly the best thing...

I'm pretty sure it won't be long before we get an update. This long wait has made everyone go insane. Just be patient.

Yh perhaps there should be GTA DLC books too, maybe a dictionary on Online updates?

I'm still waiting for those GTA seat covers.

Nope, I'd rather have the surprise. If I see something in the magazine that I really like and it end up being release at the very end of the year, every DLC I would be kind of dissapointed that it wasnt the one with the thing I really want.

Edit: Unless they are in the right order of release but we dont know the date.

As players we should expect that when we buy a game the full amount of existing content is available at release or at least once it's been properly tested & patched. Asking a company to break up the content into tidbits to be released as extras is not in my best interest, personally I'd rather DLC be created after release to meet the wishes of the of the community / customers. So the company would need to research to know what type of DLC fits the community & gameplay or guess based on data from the gameplay itself (that's why we vote yay or nay for jobs we complete right?).

I know others may like to know what to expect but the majority of new content released (in GTAO at least) often cancels another prior addition (I.e. Crate drops, Simeon vehicle, smugglers etc) so each one comes with no expectations since they're all free additions. If we had a pamphlet as the OP is suggesting we would have expectations for the deadlines, quality, lifespan / replayability, why would R* do that to themselves over free DLC?

I think by now we can all expect fireworks in July, masks at Halloween and snow at xmas, I know I'm forgetting some but there's the first page on your pamphlet.

The basic concept is good. We would like to know how much good stuff, and of what type, is in the pipeline.

Even though many people think (perhaps with some justification) that DLC is just held-back content, it would also seem that the same creative people who made the original game would also have more great ideas they would like to develop, after the original deadline to ship the game. That kind of DLC should be / could be good.

If look at it. These DLC's are already generating a lot of money through Shark cards? Shouldn't they be making a way to keep players playing by showing them what's in store than letting their reputation speak for them all the time?

That is an interesting idea, and one my hobbies, the company's do that, tell you whats coming for year, but most do it in quarters, but its nice knowing whats coming so I know how much money I am no longer going to have lol

no... wheres the surprise factor?

the only thing i would like to know from R* is if they are working on a new update, thats it.

i dont want to know what they are planning to release, unless they are dumb enough to leave files in the game and said files get dissected in a "next dlc" type of thread.

I wouldn't mind it as it would curb the sh*tposting on when the new update is coming, might kill the surprise as some people put it but I personally don't care to much about that, but it is nice when the surprise pays off.

I concur and have even sent something similar to Rockstar in the recent past.

It doesn't have to be as fancy as you suggest, I think the best method would to simply make it a Q1 Newsire saying this is the gyst of what we're planning for content over the next fiscal year. They could highlight major DLCs and the fundamental ideas behind them. Maybe even provide concept art or a screen-shot showcasing some aspect of each DLC, similar to the teaser image for Ill-Gotten Gains after the heist update.

The community as a whole and the positive PR for Rockstar would be a win-win because we would have a loose road map of updates to look forward to and have a basic idea of where GtaOnline is heading.

Additionally, maybe once per quarter, R* should post an updated Newswire revealing a little more about the DLCs as they draw closer to be more transparent with their customers and wet our appetite.

And in between drop smaller updates like we've been getting, but the most important thing is that the Gta Community is informed and know what's in store.

I think allot of the player disgust and disappointment would be elevated if players had this info.

Heists coming soon! Two years later...

I like the concept. It gives enough to look forward to it, but not entirely revealing everything that'll come with the dlc's.

R* has been dreadful with release dates in this game, just look at the delays to release the game, Online and Heists.

While your idea is quite neat, I don't see it working well with R*.

Could you imagine the uproar from the community if we had a DLC magazine and that particular DLC didn't come out?

That is not true,

The whole road map for GTA Online has been setinstone allready and was written by The Benz.

Thoughts?

It could never happen. Imagine what it would do to sales figures if people saw a large chunk where there were no updates, with a wall of adversary modes at either side. The potential for great DLC is much better than the promise of mediocre DLC.

Besides, they can't stick to timetables - we all know that - which would also be damaging. It wouldn't look good to have 12 month's worth of updates listed, and for them to only meet 1 or 2 proposed release dates.

The idea sounds like a needy teen's wet dream, and could never work in reality.

Better yet, ask Take Two for a seat at their creative meetings. Maybe have them catered. Think shrimp cocktail, surf and turf, that kind of thing. Fly you in on a jet. You are important man, they need to keep you in the loop for Christ sake!!
