According to this site https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_Internet_connection_speedswhich was sourced by Akamai, here are the Top 10 countries with Highest Internet Speeds:

1. South Korea 26.7mb

2. Sweden 19.1mb

3. Norway 18.8mb

4. Japan 17.4mb

5. Netherlands 17.0mb

6. Hong Kong 16.8mb

7. Latvia 16.7mb

8. Switzerland 16.7mb

9. Finland 16.6mb

10. Denmark 16.1mb

Sadly America didn't make the list because all they want in America is money and monopoly against other cabling companies unless if Google Chrome spreads throughout the States.

I'm surprised Singapore isn't in that list, although some people think it's a city, others think it's a country, that may be why it's not in the list.

6. Hong Kong 16.8mb

I don't see the point in having a good internet with most of the daily used sites blocked there.

I can't wait for Google fiber to f*ck over Comcast and run sh*t all over America.

I'm not too fond of monopolies, (sort of like Comcast has in my are) (monopoly might not mean what I think it means so correct me if I'm wrong) but Google has proven to me they're damn competent over the last decade. I doubt they'd let money convince them to f*ck us over like Comcast has.

I'm probably not helping that statistic.

I think Hong Kong has a totally different system than mainland China. Might as well be two different countries almost.

You said Google Chrome in the OP. Are you sure you didn't mean Google Fiber? I think plenty of people have Chrome ha ha ha.

Anyway, I'm in Cali, USA and I get 14.84 Mbps download, 1.22 Mbps upload, and 19 ms ping.

Not A Nice Person

If that is download speeds, my current dl mbps is higher than all those except South Korea, man I wonder what's slow to them.

I'm in the UK, and I've never really considered my Internet speed to be a problem. Always does exactly what I need it for.

The US monopoly is coming to end. Not only are they not allowed to monopolize the set-top box industry for cable TV anymore, but they also now have to deal with the growing threat of competition from cellular telecommunication companies looking to leverage their cellular networks. Companies like AT&T and Verizon are developing 5G networks to do this. Apparently, 5G speeds will be comparable to current standards for fiber optic speeds. So prepare your butts.

http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2016/05/09/att-and-verizons-5g-ambitions-are-cables-worst-nig.aspx

Secondly, Google Fiber is making it's way through a few states, beating the local bureaucracies at their own game. As a result, Comcast and Time Warner have been forced to speed up their internet speeds at no extra cost to consumers.

Yay for disruptive technologies and competition!

I'm confused, Is the speed in the OP the avg speed for people in that country or the highest speed?

Average peak connection, though it'd be interesting to see what a table with highest speeds looks like.
